I find it hard to believe it's already been two years.....two years ago, November 2004, "Pokémon XD: Enigma Shadow" was first conceived, and as we know, things haven't been the same since.

Now, two years later in November 2006, so many things have happened. Victoria was really Parfrida, but Parfrida was a fake Queen Shadow. Maria wasn't really dead, but was the true Queen Shadow. Rich and Anabel got married. Milotic evolved into Melodic. Olivia was born. Dr. Yung replaced Maria at the head of the evil organization.

To commemorate the second anniversary of the Enigma Shadow series (and to mark the Pokémon franchise's 10th Anniversary, if "Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon" didn't cut it for you) I present this special mini-fic following Rich and Anabel on an all-new adventure to discover the secret of a mysterious and frightening never-before-seen kind of Pokémon.

Without further ado, the curtain rises on "The Curse of the Terrifying Glitch Pokémon: A Special Anniversary Celebration"...........
=======================================================

It was a typical yet busy day in Viridian City. The rookie trainers just starting their journeys from Pallet Town to the south passed through with the usual starting Pokémon, be they Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. More experienced trainers, meanwhile, came and went from the western gate to the Indigo Plateau and Mt. Silver. Viridian's shopping district was busy too, with patrons weaving in and out of the stores carrying bags of all sizes and shapes.

Indeed, it was a typical, busy Viridian day. But a great adventure was about to begin there.

In the center of the city stood its grand symbol---the Viridian City Pokémon Gym. The Gym's marble columns and arches gave it a foreboding air, and its grand double doors invited only those brave enough to take the challenge of the eighth and final Gym Leader for the Kanto Region. This Gym had gone through several leaders of late---the first, Giovanni, mysteriously vanished amid rumors of him being the head of crime syndicate Team Rocket. A trainer named Gary had taken the reins for awhile then left to become a researcher in the Sinnoh Region, leaving it to the temporary control of Agatha, trainer of Ghost Pokémon and a member of the Elite Four. Agatha had passed away recently, leaving the Gym once again without a leader. Rumor was that Gary would return and become the Gym Leader again, but at the time, it was vacant.

The two people walking up to the Gym's entrance didn't know that, however. One was a man in a sharp purple suit matched with black slacks and a purple hat covering his head of sky-blue hair. The other was his wife, a purple-haired woman dressed in shades of light blue and purple. In her arms was their baby daughter, who had her mother's hair and her father's eyes. They stepped up to the doors of the Gym, and he pulled on the handle. It didn't open.

"Awww.....it won't open!" he said, disappointed.

"I think the Gym is closed, Rich," she observed. "None of the lights are on."

"I guess you're right, Anabel......besides, a full-on Gym battle might have been a little too much for Olivia. I wish I had planned our itinerary for our vacation a little better...."

"Don't worry, I've got an idea. Near the north end of Viridian City, not too far from the entrance to Viridian Forest, is a place called the Trainer Dome. There, you can battle with trainers from around the world in practice matches."

"Sounds like a good idea to me. Let's head over and check it out."

It's been several months since their Orre vacation went wrong, so Rich and Anabel, along with baby Olivia, have come to Kanto to try and have a proper one. They're in a stop-over in Viridian City on their way to Cinnabar Island, but little do they know a new adventure and a creature possessing abilities never dreamed of before awaits them there........

ACT ONE: The Old Man and the Roselia

Rich and Anabel had navigated their way out of the urban section of Viridian City and now were strolling through the town toward the Trainer Dome.

"Ah, such a lovely day!" Rich exclaimed. "I honestly didn't expect places outside of Larousse City to be this clean."

"People aren't slobs, Rich," Anabel scolded back.

"Hehehe......I guess....wha!!!!"

Rich tripped and fell to the ground. When he stood, he was horrified to see what he had fallen over---an old man lying down on his back in the road.

"Oh! Look what happened, Rich! I'm sorry, sir, it's my fault...."

"No, Anabel, it's mine. I tripped on him. Are you okay, sir?"

"Bah, kids these days!" the old man sputtered. "No respect for their elders! Dammit, where's my granddaughter with my Starmiebucks?"

Rich and Anabel looked at each other, but before either of them could say a word, a strange sound floated in from down the road.

"Huh? What's that?" Rich wondered, straining to hear more.

"You haven't been around Viridian long, have you, boy?" the old man said, standing up. "It's that damn Roselia causing trouble again."

As if by cue, a Roselia came running down the road towards the three on its tiny feet. It was chasing a Weedle, which stopped a yard or two in front of Anabel.

"Wee....weedle!!!" the Bug Pokémon cried out in fear.

"Roseliiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!" Roselia launched a Razor Leaf attack, hitting the Weedle and making it cry even harder.

"That Roselia is hurting the Weedle!" Anabel said, upset. "Someone should stop it!"

"It's not worth it," the old man cautioned. "I tried to capture it myself and it got the better of me."

Rich took a step forward and drew a red-and-white Poké Ball from his belt.

"I'm going to give it a try. I choose you, Riolu!"

Rich threw the ball, and out of it came a tiny creature with black feet, a purple and black body, black arms, and a black stripe running across its face and ending in a teardrop-shaped growth on each side outlining its big eyes.

"Riolu, are you ready for battle?"

"Rio! Rioooluuuuuu!!" Riolu lept up happily into Rich's arms with a huge smile, nearly knocking him down. Rich gently placed it back on the ground.

"Riolu, we can play later, but we have to battle now. See that Roselia? It's bullying the Weedle, and we're going to stop it!"

"Riooololo!!" Riolu said with a tough tone.

"There's the spirit I like to see! Riolu, use Drain Punch!"

Riolu jumped in between Weedle and Roselia, then hit the flower Pokémon with its glowing right arm. The green glow of Riolu's arm allowed it to absorb some of Roselia's energy.

"Rossse, roselia!!" Roselia became noticably angry before retaliating with a Magical Leaf attack, knocking Riolu back a bit.

"Yikes, that Roselia is pretty strong! Let's wrap this one up in a hurry, Riolu. Blaze Kick! Let's go!"

Riolu lept up into the air, and when its feet began to glow with the bright red of fire, it came down and delivered a harsh kick to Roselia. Roselia tottered foward, then collapsed.

"Rose...........rooosse....."

"That'll be enough, Riolu. Poké Ball, go!"

Rich threw the red-and-white sphere at the fallen Roselia. It tapped against its target and opened up, transforming Roselia into red energy and drawing it in. The ball then fell to the ground and shook for a few seconds..........

......then the button on it flashed red and it clicked, indicating a successful capture. Rich picked up the ball and stared at it in his hand.

"There......hopefully now that I've captured the Roselia, I can tame it and it won't cause trouble anymore."

The old man took a step forward, having recieved his coffee from his granddaughter during the battle.

"Son, you're top-rate at capturing Pokémon if you caught that Roselia! Ahahaha, now that I've got my Starmiebucks, I feel like a new man!"

"Weeee........" Weedle looked up at the old man with a sad look in its eyes.

"Sir, I think that Weedle's taken a bit of a shine to you," Anabel advised. "Maybe you should give a shot at capturing it?"

"That's a good idea. But......it's pretty bruised from Roselia attacking it. I'll just throw this one Poké Ball I have and take a chance. Poké Ball, go!"

The old man threw his own Poké Ball at Weedle. In a similar fashion, he quickly captured it.

"Ah, Weedle, we shall be partners after all! Ahahaha! Now, where were we.....oh yes. Is there a particular place you three are heading?"

"We're on vacation, Anabel, myself and our daughter," Rich explained. "Long story short, do you know where the Trainer Dome is?"

"Oh, that? Ahahaha! It's right down this road. Gonna compete there, son? Good luck! Ahahahahahahaha!!!"

"Thanks, sir....." Anabel did not say another word until she and Rich had walked a fair distance away. "What an odd character...."

"I agree, but helping out that Weedle felt good. I bet Riolu enjoyed the battle, too."

Soon enough, they had arrived at the Trainer Dome. It was a grand building with shiny steel sides and a big blue dome roof. Rich walked up to the sign at the automatic double-door entry and read it aloud.

"'Welcome, trainers from around the world, to the Trainer Dome! Originally erected as a single house with a battle arena in its basement, the Trainer Dome has become the premier facility in Kanto for training battles! Step right through the automatic double doors and compete! Good luck, trainers!' ......It was a house with an arena in its basement?"

"Yeah, it was. Before it became the Trainer Dome it was the Trainer House. It was founded as field-testing to see if there was enough interest for the Battle Frontier."

"You'd be the woman to ask, I guess. Let's go in and check it out."

The doors slid open, allowing Rich and Anabel inside. The Trainer Dome's interior was just as impressive as its outer shell---the black marble floor was polished to a brilliant luster, reflecting those walking on it perfectly. Off to the left was an area of large steel tables where trainers were trading Pokémon, and to the right, a bank of videophones and computers. Rich and Anabel walked up to the brown wood reception desk in the center.

"Hello and welcome to the Viridian City Trainer Dome," the receptionist greeted them. "Are you here to compete in a Pokémon battle?"

"That I am," Rich responded. "What do I need to do to register?"

"Just let me scan your Trainer Card into the system."

Rich handed the receptionist his Trainer Card. She scanned it with a handheld laser scanner, entered some data into her computer, and returned the card.

"Rich Mistbloom, resident of Larousse City, Hoenn. Okay, Mr. Mistbloom, you're all set. Feel free to use our PCs if you want to swap Pokémon for your challenge. When you're ready to battle, use the doors directly behind me to go to the arena. Good luck!"

Rich nodded, then walked in the direction of the PCs, followed by Anabel.

"What Pokémon are you going to switch?" she asked.

"I'm going to swap Ludicolo out for Roselia. I want to let it get some experience. So while I do this, go on and find a seat."

"Okay. Good luck!"

Anabel turned and walked off towards the spectator entrance. Rich entered his data in the PC to access his Storage System. Placing Ludicolo's Poké Ball on the transporter, he entered some more information before activating the transfer---causing Ludicolo's ball to vanish and a new one to appear on the opposite side of the computer. Rich picked it up and stared at it.

"Roselia......."

Rich clipped the ball to his belt and headed for the arena.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The crowd inside the arena was huge, with the seating arranged to box the rectangular grass battlefield. Anabel had just gotten a seat fairly close to the floor when the referee, red hair clashing with his black-and-white uniform, appeared in a flying booth.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Viridian City Trainer Dome!!" The crowd responded with great enthusiasm. "You are about to witness the spectacle of a no-holds-barred Pokémon training battle at its finest! Before we can begin the battle, we need two trainers to compete, so let's meet our challengers! First we bring you a hot, up and coming trainer from New Bark Town in Johto! Please put your hands together for Cal!"

A young man entered from the gate on one side of the arena. He wore brown shoes and pants, a black shirt under a yellow jacket, and a blue-and-yellow hat. He waved as the crowd cheered him on.

"And our other challenger is a veteran trainer from Larousse City in Hoenn! Now entering the Trainer Dome.........Rich!!"

Out from the other gate came Rich, giving his trademark bow to the crowd.

"Go for it, Rich! You can do it!!" Anabel shouted, to which Rich responded with a wink.

"I hope you're ready, dude!" Cal taunted. "I pull no punches!"

"Neither do I. Cal, was it? Training battles are great because you can do just that, pull no punches. Let's get this done!"

"We will now determine how many Pokémon each trainer is allowed to use, and if it's a single or double battle!" the referee announced as a big wheel lowered down from the ceiling and began spinning. After going around for several moments, the wheel slowed and stopped on a space with two red dots and two black dots. "That's decided it! We shall have a two-on-two Double Battle, first trainer to lose both Pokémon loses the match! Now, commence battling!"

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Pkmn Trainer Rich ---vs.--- Pkmn Trainer Cal
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"Here we go! I choose you, Bayleef and Quilava!"

Cal threw two Poké Balls, sending out his Grass-type Bayleef and Fire-type Quilava.

"Ah, this should be a good one. Roselia and Riolu, go!"

Rich released Riolu and Roselia, but as soon as it spotted its partner, Roselia became angry and attacked it.

"Roooosssse!!!!" Roselia hit Riolu with a Bullet Seed attack, causing the Fighting type to back up.

"Roselia, no! Stop that this instant!" Rich grabbed Roselia's body and held it firmly. "You will behave yourself. Riolu is your partner in this battle, now, it isn't your enemy!"

"Rose. Roselia......"

Rich let go of Roselia, whom then returned to its position on the field.

"Very well. Rich's Riolu and Roselia versus Cal's Bayleef and Quilava! Begin!"

"Quickly, Riolu! Begin with Brick Break!"

Riolu took aim at Quilava and began jumping forward on its short legs, arm drawn back and ready to punch.

"Bayleef, cover Quilava with Vine Whip!"

"Bay, baybay!!!" Bayleef extended a vine from the leaves around its neck and whipped Riolu, sending the tiny Pokémon tumbling backwards.

"Excellent! Now, Quilava, use Ember on Roselia!"

Fiery blasts spouted up from Quilava's back as it lauched small bursts of flame at Roselia. The Grass and Poison type took a super-effective hit, weakening it considerably.

"Roselia, counter with Poison Sting! Go!"

"Rrrrrrrrose....." Roselia growled as it stood back up. It held its roses straight out and launched poison spikes from them, striking and damaging Bayleef forcefully.

"Riolu, follow that up with a Blaze Kick!"

"Rioolulu! Rioluuu!!!" Riolu lept up into the air, and with its feet flaming, it crashed down onto Bayleef. This critical hit combined with Roselia's Poison Sting was enough to bring down Bayleef.

"Bayleef has been knocked out!" the referee announced. "The score is one to nothing in Rich's favor!"

"Bayleef, return! Very impressive, I must say. Unfortunately for your Roselia, the game's over here. Flame Wheel!!!"

Quilava balled itself up, activated its fiery quills, and began rolling like a fireball straight at Roselia. Roselia braced for the blow, but suddenly Riolu lept in the way and took the full force of the attack. Quilava bounced back to its place while Riolu was knocked down in a cloud of dust.

"Ooooh! Rich's Riolu appears to have sacrificed itself to save its partner!....." Suddenly, a bright white glow began to emenate from the dust cloud. "Wait, what's this?"

As the dust cleared, the white glow took form and faded. Riolu was gone, replaced by a taller purple-and-black creature. Its black legs were longer and firmer, its paws tipped black with a spike on the back of each, and it had foxlike purple ears. Also, the black stripe on its face now ended in two teardrop-shaped growths per side and a yellow coat of fur covered its chest.

"Oh, my! What a turn of events! After taking a brutal blow, Rich's Riolu has evolved into Lucario!"

Roselia, stunned by Riolu's evolution, looked up at its new partner Lucario.

"Rossse....rosselia....." the rose Pokémon stared at Lucario, infatuated by it.

"Lucaaaaaa!!!!! Lucarrrrio!!!"

"Lucario....." Rich took out his P*DA and activated it, opening the Browser page for Lucario.

"Lucario, the pulse Pokémon. Type is Fighting/Steel. Evolved form of Riolu. Lucario possesses the power to see the pulses given off by all things. It can understand human speech well, and even can learn a second language. My reading the pulse waves of its opponent in battle, it can predict their movements and thoughts."

"Awesome. Ready for battle, Lucario?"

"Lucarrrrrr....." Lucario took a fighting stance, but then Roselia suddenly jumped on it.

"Rose! Roselia liaroseliarose!!!!" the amorous Roselia cried out, hugging Lucario with its tiny arms.

"No, Roselia! Stop!" Rich had to pull Roselia off of Lucario again. "Behave yourself during battles!"

"Rose." Roselia seemed angry at Rich's interference.

Unfortunately, this little distraction had allowed Cal the time to silently order another Flame Wheel attack, and his Quilava crashed into Lucario, causing more damage now that Lucario possessed the Steel type.

"Let's see....what moves does a Lucario know?" Rich mumbled, looking through his Browser. "Ah, this one will do. Lucario, Stone Edge! Let's go!"

Lucario dug its powerful arms into the ground, then dashed forward at Quilava. The wall of dirt and rock it pushed overwhelmed Quilava easily and caused the Fire type to faint.

"Quilava has fainted! The winner in this Trainer Dome battle is Rich with Lucario and Roselia! Congratulations!"

"Awwwww..dang it! I need more training...."

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

The crowd went wild one last time for Rich, then he left the arena through the same gate he had used to enter.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

As Rich stepped back into the Trainer Dome's lobby, Anabel met him with Olivia.

"That was great!" she praised, giving him a kiss. "You sure showed him something!"

"Yeah, but I'm worried about Roselia...."

"Why?"

"The behavior it's showing isn't normal, I can tell. First it was attacking that Weedle earlier."

"Well, truthfully, we don't know if the Weedle provoked Roselia."

"That's true. But then it attacked Riolu for no reason, as if it were angry that Riolu fought it. Not only that, when Riolu evolved into Lucario, Roselia lept on it as if it......loved Lucario."

"Maybe it fell in love when Lucario, then Riolu, protected it from that Flame Wheel attack. Perhaps like how we fell for each other while protecting ourselves from Enigma Shadow~" Anabel laughed lightly, blushing a bit.

"I don't know, but hopefully she outgrows it......" Suddenly, a beeping noise sounded. Rich pulled out his P*DA and looked at it. "Oh dear! We've got to go, the blimp's about to leave!"

"We've still got to get our things from the Pokémon Center, too!"

Rich and Anabel rushed out of the Trainer Dome.

---------------------------------------------------------

The blimp, inflated and ready to take off, sat on its launch pad in the Viridian Airfield. A security guard in a blue uniform stood watch at the gate to the blimp as Rich and Anabel ran up, each carrying one suitcase.

"Hold it, you two," he commanded, holding his hand up. "You can't go in here if you don't have tickets."

"We've got the tickets right here." Anabel put down her suitcase and fumbled in her pocket, finally producing two tickets with the 'Wailord Blimp Flights' logo on them. She handed the tickets to the guard.

"You're cleared. Enjoy your trip."

The guard stepped aside, allowing Rich and Anabel inside. They rushed to the boarding area and made it on board as the very last passengers. A few minutes later, the blimp lifted off.....destination, Cinnabar Island.

Rich and Anabel's vacation hasn't even truly started and already it's become quite eventful. An encounter with a caffeine-addicted old man and Rich's capture of an unruly Roselia was capped by an intense training battle in which Riolu evolved into Lucario! Now Rich, Anabel and baby Olivia set off for their destination, tropical Cinnabar Island. But what awaits them there is completely different than an amorous, overemotional Roselia or a cranky old man........

END of ACT ONE

T'was good. Is this a fic? LOLZ!!! Anyways, yeah, he caught a Roselia and he's got a Lucario. Whoa, so now Rich has:

Roselia
Tyranitar
Melodic
Lucario
Salamence
Blaziken
Slowking...

Am I right?

I must say that I greatly enjoyed creating the overemotional, horny Roselia with attachment issues ;)

I can't help but laugh at the puns you put in this story, TGB. Starmiebucks is so funny! It's also funny to laugh at a hydrogen-filled Wailord flying in the sky...

STARMIEBUCKS WAS MY CREATION BUTLER! YOU GOT THAT FROM MY SIGN-UP THREAD IN SEREBII!!

Ahem... Well, guess it could come from anywhere. I enjoyed this story and I also know that Roselia will evolve into a Rozerade as its one of your ever-growing game bishies (where do you get those anyway?). Don't hate me for this but I enjoyed Mastermind (Kayzie was good!) so this is sort of a real treat! Eagerly anticipating,

The Doctor is out.

I'll be honest, I didn't know Starmiebucks had already been used. I'll credit you for it, k?

Heh, as for my bishies, I just put 'em in my sig as I so desire.

ZOMG, STARMIEBUX ROOCKS! I'd laugh if the use pieces of Starmie's jewel as a refreshing flavour for the damn coffee! LOLZ! C'est magnifique TGB! Eagerly awaiting your next chapter....

Hola Great Butler! ^^

Well, I quite enjoyed this. Hehe, really liked that emotional Roselia! I bet that will be not the first time that it will show its emotions to Lucario! ;D

Also, I like that caffine addicted old man. Hm...will we see him again?

Oh, and sorry I still have not finished the banner yet. I got a midterm to study...>.> I am halfway done with it though! ^^

Well, good luck on the next chapter! Sorry this review is not too indepth like the other ones. I got quite a lot of things to do, so I did not really have time to look over too much on which parts needs a little more descrption. Maybe next time. ^^;;;

Hi, Bay, glad to see ya!

Don't you worry about it, there are things that are much more important than a silly little story. You just do what you have to do and enjoy it when you have the time.

Well I've read the other fics and I hope it'll be fanfic after fanfic of a new pokemon series. Anyways it's good and I hope to see more of Rich's pokemon.

On to Act Two........
--------------------------------------------------------------------

ACT TWO: Tales from the Glitch

Cinnabar Island was usually a lively and energenic place. Tourists, many clad in the most hideous of flower-patterned clothing, walked around the vibrant shopping centers on the island, being courted by merchants. On the beautiful, flawless beaches people sunned themselves. Others went running with their Pokémon, while still more swam and surfed in the shining blue sea.

Or at least that's the way it usually is.

As Rich and Anabel walked down the street from the airfield, Rich now carrying both suitcases so Anabel could carry Olivia, the atmosphere of Cinnabar Island was quiet. Too quiet. But it didn't matter to them right at that moment, as they were lost trying to find the Pokémon Center they'd be staying at.

"Awww, blast it!" Rich spat, arms buckling under the weight of the cases. "Where are we now?!"

"Calm down, Rich," Anabel urged. "You know, I've heard that Lucario can detect anything by using its pulse-reading ability."

"I get it. Good idea." Rich put down the cases and opened the Poké Ball, allowing Lucario to burst out.

"Lucaarrrrr iooooo?" it growled at its trainer.

"Lucario, I want you to guide us to the Pokémon Center that is somewhere in this city."

"Lurio."

Lucario closed its eyes and focused, its teardrops standing straight out. After a moment of focusing and reading the aura, Lucario opened its eyes again and began walking, motioning for Rich and Anabel to follow it, which they did. In a few short minutes they had arrived at the Pokémon Center---but the doors didn't open.

"Huh? They won't open?" Anabel was baffled. "Is it closed?"

"Can't be. Pokémon Centers never---"

Out of nowhere, Roselia burst from its ball on its own.

"Rooosse! Lialiaroseliaaaaaaa!!" Roselia lept onto Lucario and began kissing it, giving in to its lust.

"No! Roselia, stop that this instant!" Rich pulled Roselia off of Lucario and held its body tightly. "How many times must I tell you to behave?!"

"Roseliii, roselia...."

"Get back in your ball and cool it for now."

Rich recalled Roselia to its ball. At that moment, the Center's doors opened and a Nurse Joy stepped out.

"Come inside, quickly!" she pushed Rich, Anabel and Lucario into the door then sealed it up.

The inside was your basic Pokémon Center: white and yellow tiled floor with a Poké Ball drawn out in the center, reception desk for giving over or getting back your Pokémon, banks of videophones and computers---it was all there.

"What is going on?" Rich asked Nurse Joy. "Why are you so upset?"

"You must leave this island, trainer! A terrible curse has befallen us and many of the trainers here have fallen victim to......it!"

"A curse?" Anabel seemed puzzled. "I doubt there's really a curse....."

"Fine. If you two want a room, I'll show you to it. Then I'll show you the proof of the curse."

Nurse Joy walked away, so Rich, Anabel and Lucario followed. She guided them down a short hallway to a blue-carpeted room with two beds. Rich threw the suitcases onto one of the beds, then he and Anabel followed Nurse Joy until she stopped at the door to the emergency room.

"I'm warning you two now......what you're about to see is terrifying beyond belief."

With that, Joy opened the doors. In the emergency room were dozens of Pokémon, but something was wrong with them. They were all turning black and white, and were droning a low, monotonous cry in place of their normal cries.

"Wha....!???!" Rich jumped back in shock. "What's happened?!"

A young girl with long black hair wearing a white shirt and red skirt walked up to them.

"The Terrifying Glitch is what happened!" she said angrily.

"What? What is the Terrifying Glitch?" Anabel replied, puzzled.

"You must be from out of Cinnabar if you don't know what it is. The Terrifying Glitch is a Pokémon....well, actually, it's not a real Pokémon but it's like one. That's why we call it a glitch. It's a strange creature that appears on the eastern beach at night concealed in a thick fog. It attacks and battles anyone who it meets during the night, and when it wins the Pokémon it defeated is afflicted with a strangle illness....the one you see here."

"These Pokémon are terribly ill!" Rich said in alarm. "What is happening to them?"

"The mysterious illness appears to degenerate the nervous system of the Pokémon," Nurse Joy explained. "First their bodies slowly turn black and white, then they rapidly regress in development back to a vegetative state in which they barely move and can only say the word 'missingno.'"

"See, have a look at my precious Luvdisc." The girl guided Rich and Anabel to a hospital bed with a shaded gray Luvdisc laying on it, breathing heavily.

"Miss.....miis.....missingno..." it said.

"This is quite alarming..."

"I agree, Rich. We should do something about it, avenge the souls of these Pokémon."

"NO! Absolutely NOT!!" Nurse Joy shouted sternly. "No trainer staying in this Pokémon Center is allowed to go out there. And besides, we've got help arriving shortly."

As if on cue, a bald man with a white mustache, wearing a white lab coat with a red shirt and tie, strode into the room.

"Ah, Leader Blaine! You've arrived!"

"Yes," the man, Cinnabar's Gym Leader Blaine, responded. "As soon as I got your call for help, Joy, I made the arrangements for the proxy Gym Leader and came over. Now I understand you have a problem with a creature that's making local Pokémon gravely ill?"

"Indeed. Look at all these Pokémon in this room. They all share a common trait---they all lost in battle to the Terrifying Glitch, the creature in question. I suspect that this Glitch is the reason behind the rash outbreak of the illness, which causes degeneration in the skin then in the nervous system."

"Ah, I see. Have no fear, Blaine is here to settle the score with the Terrifying Glitch! My partner Arcanine and I should have little trouble defeating it. Maybe once it is beaten the outbreak will subside. Arcanine, go!"

Blaine pulled a Poké Ball from his coat and opened it, releasing the majestic red, white and black Arcanine. It lay down for a moment to allow Blaine to get on its back before standing up fully.

"Now, I shall away and defeat the Terrifying Glitch once and for all. I want all of you to stay here for the night." Blaine stared out towards the setting sun. "It's getting late, Arcanine. If we are to put a stop to the Terrifying Glitch's reign, we must busy ourselves."

"Arrrroooooo!!!" Arcanine howled enthusiastically, ready for battle.

"That's my boy!" Blaine responded with a smile, before Arcanine strode out of the Pokémon Center and towards the eastern beach.

"He's always been a maverick...." Nurse Joy said. "An eccentric one, but a maverick nevertheless."

"I can't help but be worried," Anabel commented. "He might be a Gym Leader, but the thing he's going up against DID do in all these Pokémon......"

Nurse Joy walked away in a huff, leaving Rich and Anabel to observe the room full of sick Pokémon. In one bed, Rich spotted a Pokémon he'd never seen before. It faintly resembled a Magmar but had a fat, magma-patterned body and cylinder-shaped arms tipped with claws attached to big, round shoulders. Its eyes were crunched between puckered lips and a flame-shaped growth on its head. Intrigued, Rich walked over with Anabel and tapped its trainer---a boy wearing a black shirt, red hat, and a blue scarf.

"Excuse me?" Rich asked.

"What? What is it? I'm in a really bad mood right now...."

"I can see....." Anabel said with a sympathetic tone. "We were just wondering, what kind of Pokémon is this?"

"We've never seen anything like it before," Rich added.

"It's called Booburn. An evolution of Magmar."

"Huh? Rich, didn't you see a Magmar evolution named Pyromar while we were in Orre?"

"I think so. Let's see what the P*DA's got to say about Booburn. Maybe it knows something...."

Rich opened his P*DA to the Browser and scanned the sick Booburn.

"Booburn, the smoke breath Pokémon. Type is Fire. Evolved form of Magmar. Booburn evolved when a Magmar was exposed to Silph Co.'s Magmabooster, unlike Pyromar which evolved in response to a Fire Stone. It shoots fireballs in excess of 2,000 degrees Celsius from its cannon-like arms. Unlike its other evolution, Booburn lives inside the craters of volcanoes while Pyromar lives on the volcano's crust."

"Ah, I see." Rich put the P*DA away. "I guess this guy had a run-in with the Terrifying Glitch that didn't go well?"

"Yeah.......by the way, what's your name? Mine's Johnathan."

"I'm Rich, and this is my wife Anabel and our daughter Olivia."

"Pleased to meet you, Rich, Anabel, Olivia."

"The pleasure's ours!" Anabel replied with a smile that quickly vanished. "So....if you don't mind, could you tell us what exactly happened to Booburn?"

"Well, I'll try to make it short........Booburn and I were walking along the eastern Cinnabar beach last night on our walk. We go out for a walk every night, you see. All of a sudden this thick fog rolled in from the sea, and we were blinded. I had Booburn light our way with its flame, and out of nowhere, we were attacked by this.....THING that kept saying 'missingno, missingno.'"

"That's the same thing the Pokémon it's defeated have started saying....." Rich realized. "What did it look like?"

"I...I don't know! It was really obscured by the fog. It looked like a big bunch of jumbled pixels with an eye and half a mouth in a backwards "L" shape, but I don't know any kind of Pokémon even slightly resembling that!"

"What attacks did it use?" Anabel questioned further.

"A couple ones I know for sure. First it charged up and used Sky Attack, but Booburn dodged that. After that it used Water Gun, but it was wierd....it seemed to use Water Gun twice at once, almost as if it knew the attack twice. And after it beat Booburn, before it fled it did this bizarre trick where all the things in my backpack were multiplied several times! I suddenly had a bag weighing dozens of pounds loaded down with stuff I didn't need or want!"

"I hate to sound selfish, but my opportunistic side is coming out," Rich said. "Would we be able to take any of it off your hands for you?"

"I already transferred most of it away. I do have this, though...." Johnathan pulled from his bag two identical stones with a white glow. "They're Awakening Stones. I don't know what kind of Pokémon evolves with it. Would you like one of them?"

"Sure." Anabel took one of the Awakening Stones. "My father is a Pokémon professor in the city where Rich and I live. He may be able to tell us something about it. Thank you."

"Anytime. I hope you find out how to use it."

"Rich, let's get some food and go back to the room for a while."

"Right. Anyway, Johnathan, I hope Booburn recovers soon."

Rich and Anabel walked out of the emergency room.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Some time later, Blaine and Arcanine were walking on the moonlit eastern beach. A light fog draped the area, but nothing like the pea soup described by Johnathan.

"Are you ready for this, my friend?" Blaine asked Arcanine as they walked.

"Arcaaaaaaanine!!!!" Arcanine growled in response. Whatever was waiting for it, it was ready.

Blaine stopped and turned towards the sea, so Arcanine did the same. The thick fog was beginning to roll in.

"Arcanine, be alert. The Terrifying Glitch may appear at any time....."

They continued walking, but much more cautiously. Soon the fog dissipated slightly---and then......

"Muuuhhhhhhh........Missingno!!!!"

Blaine and Arcanine stopped dead in their tracks.

"That's it, Arcanine! The Glitch is upon us!" As if on cue, the hazy jumble of pixels with an eye and half a mouth appeared before him. "You! You are the Terrifying Glitch, are you not? What gives you the right to harm the Pokémon of Cinnabar Island?!!"

"Missssssssinnnng....." the menacing monster hissed in reply.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Gym Leader Blaine ---vs.--- Terrifying Glitch ???
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

"It's time for you to pay the price for your evil! Arcanine, go! Fire Blast!"

"Gaarroooooooo!!!" Arcanine howled, leaping into battle. It launched a large fireball from its mouth straight at the Glitch---and scored a direct hit, causing the Glitch to break apart.

"Ahaha! We've won already, Arca----huh?!?"

To Blaine's horror, the bits and pieces of the Glitch congealed and reformed into its full body. The attack had done nothing.

"Muh missing...muhhhhhh........"

A pixellated energy ball formed in front of the Glitch's half-mouth. Without much warning it was fired and hit Arcanine directly, inflicting massive damage.

"Arcanine!!! Are you alright?"

"Grrrrrrr.....Ararca!!!!!!" Arcanine snarled, majorly hurting.

"This Glitch must be on a level much higher than any normal Pokémon......it looks like we have no choice, Arcanine. Overheat!"

Arcanine's body glowed a bright red as it powered up. Finally, when at full power, it loosed flames like a cannon from its mouth---but this time, the Glitch simply opened a hole in its body and allowed the flames right through, once again neutralizing the attack.

"What?! It's afraid to take a blow!"

"Missingno......missingno......missingno........."

Suddenly, the Glitch fired two streams of water from its body in the double Water Gun attack. Both attacks hit Arcanine directly, and it fainted.

"Arcanine, no!"

"Missingno.......muhhhhh..........."

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Arcanine lay fainted and prone on the ground at Blaine's feet.

"Oh, Arcanine....what has happened?"

"Missingnoooooooooooooooh.........."

There was a flash like lightning, and the Terrifying Glitch transformed. It was now a black ghost with rounded hands. Another flash, and it was gone. At this point, Arcanine's fur had already began to turn black and white.

"Arcaaaaaa.....ingnooo......"

"Arcanine!!! NO!!!!"

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Rich stood at the window of his room, wearing the blue robe he always slept in and staring out at the moonlit night. Anabel, in her purple nightgown, stepped up to his side after a moment.

"Rich, come to bed. It's late."

"I'm sick with worry, Anabel. After what I saw earlier tonight in the emergency room, I can't help but worry....."

"I think Blaine will be more than able to solve this mystery and save all the Pokémon......."

"I guess..."

Suddenly, Roselia burst from its ball and began trying to hug Lucario's ball. Rich gently pulled it off and set it on the ground.

"Now, Roselia, you mustn't bother Lucario. He's surely tired. OK?"

"Roseee roselia....."

"Tell you what. If you promise to behave, you can sleep outside of your ball tonight. Deal?"

"Rosssselialaliiiii!~!!"

Rich was the one on the recieving end of Roselia's latest happy lunge. Anabel watched with a smile, but suddenly several voices began talking loudly outside.

"It's terrible, Joy! I couldn't do it!!!" one of the voices screamed.

"Rich, that was Blaine! Something terrible's happened!"

"Let's go. Roselia, you can come with us."

Rich helped Roselia onto his shoulder, then he and Anabel rushed out of the room to see a horrifying scene: Arcanine lying on the floor, breathing heavily. Its once grand coat was now dull shades of gray, black and white. Blaine was in a panic, and Nurse Joy didn't seem much better."

"Now that you've been beaten, Blaine, who can we count on?!" Joy shouted. "That thing's stronger than even you, so who can do it? Who can stop the Terrifying Glitch?!"

"I don't know, but for Jirachi's sake Joy, FIND SOMEONE!!!!" Blaine turned and saw Rich and Anabel. "You two kids better get off this island before you become its next victims! Staying will only cause---wait....are you...?!"

Blaine took off his sunglasses, then his eyes went wide when he saw who he was addressing.

"J.....Joy.......I think I've found our heroes."

Rich and Anabel froze in surprise.

"Why? Who are they?"

"Who are they? Why, they stand before us! Rich and Anabel Mistbloom!"

"Who?" Joy was still in the dark, causing Rich and Anabel to facefault.

"They beat up Enigma Shadow, that gang with the evil Pokémon. Since they beat Enigma Shadow's Mewtwo and Rayquaza, I'd wager my last Poké Dollar that they can save Cinnabar Island!"

"Uh, Blaine, sir....." Rich was hesitant to speak. "I...we're flattered, but honestly, I'm not interested in getting into a battle I can't win."

"I will train you myself. Also, I noticed something when I was battling the Glitch. When Arcanine's Fire Blast attack hit it, it shattered into pieces but reformed a moment later. I think that if a second strong attack hit its core before it could heal, it would be destroyed. Do you two know the Pokémon called Deoxys?"

"Yes," Anabel replied.

"It's like that, I think. Deoxys's entire body can be annihilated, but if its central core remains, it can always regenerate. The Terrifying Glitch has a central core just like that. My theory is that if the two of you work together, one of you can shatter the Glitch's body then the other can attack its core in quick succession."

"I see.....I'll defer to Anabel on this one, the female mind is probably wiser. Do we take him up on his offer?"

"Hmmm....." Anabel seemed deep in thought for a moment. "Yes, Rich. We have to do something to try and help those Pokémon that the monster hurt."

"Alright, it's decided. When does our training begin?"

"Meet me at the town square tomorrow morning. We'll have a warmup battle, each of you with two Pokémon against four of mine. Now, go get some sleep. You'll need it."

As Rich and Anabel return to their room, yet another vacation has gone awry. A mysterious being known only as the "Terrifying Glitch" is running rampant over Cinnabar Island, cutting a wide swath of destruction as it afflicts any Pokémon in its path with an unknown debilitating illness. Even Gym Leader Blaine lost to it, but with his teaching, Rich and Anabel are about to go up against it themselves. Can they do what is seemingly impossible and stop the Glitch's reign of terror?

END of ACT TWO

Hello again Great Butler! ^^

Well, so far so good. Hm...so now we know a little bit more of the terrifying glitch, ey? I bet that "Pokemon" has more tricks under its sleeve! ^^

Also, hehe on Roselia again! Still, I think I would like a little more emotion on Lucario's part, wondering if he likes Roselia back! ^O^

Now, a couple of tips on description.

First, the battles. I think I might had said this a bunch of times already. For instance,

A pixellated energy ball formed in front of the Glitch's half-mouth. Without much warning it was fired and hit Arcanine directly, inflicting massive damage.

I saw many times in battles you wrote you put "inflicting massive damage" and such. One way to make the battle more realistic and lively is put how Aracanine felt. Maybe the Pokemon howled in pain, has revenge in its blood, determined more then ever to win the battle, etc. Also, you can put how the attack put some bruises on its body. Yeah, a bit more emotional and physical description on the battles.

Well, good luck on the next chapter! Can't wait to see the training!

It's good! More of Roselia's horniness is amusing. LOLZ! Anyways, how many chapters is this thing going to have?

I'm always working to improve. I'll take your suggestions into account, Bay.

That attack is the "glitch attack" some Missingnos have.

Hehehe.....yes, Lucario should show some more emotion back....

This is an interesting fic so far dude, although it feels kinda rushed compared to your previous works, but I'll let that off because its a 'special' fic. Abit.

I like how Roselia is being protrayed so far, very funny :p but to have Lucario come about so early and randomly, was kinda disappointing. It was wayyy to early in my opinion but there you go.

He's one of fave pokemon of the new gen, I just hope that he's developed as much of a character as Gardevoir etc. I like the way he is in his starring movie for example ;-)

But anyway I await to see how events with the HoRRoR GLiTch goes and the next main story arc. Good luck with it all man.

Since Battle Revolution is coming out, and you want to imitate the concepts of the game, maybe you should make the style of battle like PBR!

Yay For Blaine and Arcanine!

Yay for Lord Missingno!

Keep in mind two things: one, I brought Lucario about now because I wanted to showcase it right away, plus, Rich had been training it intensively already (remember that this is set "several months" after the conclusion of XD^2)

Also remember that although he just caught it, Roselia has quite a bit of battle experience as well thanks to its rampages in Viridian Forest....fufufu....
