I tried finding similar topics but couldn't find any other than blog posts, so I decided to make a topic myself. Anyway, I'm sure many of us have at least heard of the Mother series, especially Mother 2, or Earthbound as its called here in the US. I didn't even hear about this series until some years ago, when JewWario off-handedly mentioned Mother 3 in his crossover Pokemon 2000 review with Suede and Linkara on Channel Awesome. Then I did some research and kept hearing people praise it up the wazoo. Admittedly, I wasn't interested, thinking it was just a bad game that was ridiculously overhyped by everyone around me. But then I watched The Cartoon Hero's reviews of the Mother series on his channel and found that it sounded a lot better than I had assumed. Becoming curious, I watched Chuggaaconroy's LP of Mother 1, but then managed to find the games at a local convention and bought them. After finishing Mother 3, I've been converted into a fan ever since. Seriously, I'm sure I sound like a broken record when I say this, as others have said it already, but the Mother series is nothing like I've ever played. I even have figurines of Paula and Jeff! Mother 3 is the best in the series, in my opinion, and my favorite game of all time. Yes, even beating Pokemon, its that good. I'm halfway through Earthbound.

Any fans here? Discuss the Mother series here!

Mother 3 is also my favourite in the Mother series and it's easily one of my favourite RPGs of all time. I enjoyed Eartbound/Mother 2 very much too, but haven't tried the first one.

I have a SNES emulator for PS2. My cousin gave a copy to me when I got my PS2, no idea how he managed to get it. But I'm glad that he did. Because of it, I was able to play Earthbound. It was the first game I ever finished and still remains as my favorite game of all time. And since I played it on my PS2, it was like I was actually playing the original and not in an emulator. I wish I could play the other two, but the only way to do it would play them on my computer and I'm not really a big fan of playing games on computer. So until I get a Wii U and a GBA, I'll probably never play them. But I'm sure they're just as amazing too.

I'm a long time MOTHER fan and it's a series that's really sentimental to me. Each game was strange and funny, yet beautiful in their own ways. I treasure my copies of EarthBound and MOTHER 1+2 very much and I would never give them up.

I tried out the original Earthbound years ago, but it just didn't interest me long enough. Stopped after Buzz Buzz's death.

Mother 1+2, has been special for me in that they are the only other games besides the Pokémon franchise that is heavily based on a present-day setting, and which the world is realistic and idealistic at the same time. I had to play Mother 2 over 4-5 times before I moved onto other stuff, because the combination of the whole setting and story was bizzare in an awesome way. How many other games do we have that starts with battling against a delinquent (who is essentially a character from, say, Grease the Musical) to ending up with an epic battle against an Eldritch Abomination?

Well, Earthbound is on the New 3DS Virtual Console...I do kinda wish it was on the normal 3DS and 2DS, but oh well. Better save up for a New 3DS XL!

I beat Earthbound for the first time about a month ago, and I liked it. It's creative, has good music, and there's just kind of a nice feel to it. Also, I don't want to spoil it, but the final boss is amazing and it's actually what got me into the series in the first place. :p There are some little things that annoyed me (the beginning is slow and there's very limited item space), but overall Earthbound was a good game in my opinion.

After that I started playing Earthbound Beginnings. I'm up to the part where Lloyd joins you, and so far I like that game too. I hope Mother 3 gets released on Virtual Console so I can play that one too because I've heard a lot of people say it's the best.
