Wes Griffin removed his black baseball cap with a yellow stripe, and ruffled his dyed red hair somewhat nervously as he got off the bus. Today was his first day at the new high school that he'd been transferred to since he moved away from Toronto. Toting his backpack onto his other shoulder, he hoped he'd make it through this year alive, as he entered through the doors of the school.

At about the same time, a black car- notable for its 'GB' licence plate- pulled up behind the bus. Four twin-tailed foxes- one grey, one blue, one orange and one bright ginger- stepped from it, each wearing a different facial expression. The grey one was quickly left behind as the other three entered the school without him.

Wes looked around. Everyone was going to their assigned locker, getting ready for first period. He pulled a note out of his pocket, and unfolded it. According to it, he'd been assigned locker #101. He started walking to his locker―
“Ah! So sorry!” A brown-furred vixen had bumped into him, accidently dropping her books. She stooped down to pick them up.
“Don't worry about it.” He quickly picked up her books, and gave them to her.
“Thanks.” She brushed her bangs out of her left eye. “I'm Jade.”
“Wes. Nice to meet you.”
“You too! Well, I have to get going. See you later!” And with that, she was gone.

The trio of foxes went to their lockers, which were all in a row next to one another. Apparently, Wes' collision had amused them. After a considerable delay, the fourth member of their party, the grey fox, stumbled through the door and hurried haphazardly to his locker.

Using the new combination he'd been given, Wes opened his locker, and put his backpack in his locker, taking out his books for first period. He noticed that a red-furred fox, who was dressed similarly to him, had a locker practically right next to him, however, he didn't greet him. He preferred that the other person started the conversation, unless it was Shadow...

"That's as good a response as any," Shadow remarked, sounding soullessly scornful, not really giving any explanation.

"D'you have a problem with that?" He shoved Wes again and moved on, before he could receive an answer. Another quiet ripple of mirth could be heard, coming from the group of foxes at the end of the row of lockers.

“Yes I do,” he muttered to himself. Just then, the warning bell rung, indicating that the students had 5 minutes to get to class.

The foxes finished sorting their lockers out at more or less the same time, with the exception of the grey one, who was remorselessly left behind as his siblings moved along to class.

On the way, the grey fox almost collided with Wes in his hurry to catch up with his siblings, but managed to avoid any contact, instead spectacularly falling flat on his own face before scrambling to his feet and gathering his books again, saying nothing.

What appeared to confuse him was that his siblings had parted ways ahead, heading for different classes, and he hesitated, before following his blue brother.

Wes pulled out his schedule. His first class, French, was upstairs, in room 201, which seemed to be where the ginger-colored vixen was heading, so he trailed a little bit behind her.

The vixen looked to her left slightly, taking what she shought was a discreet look over her shoulder, thinking- rightly so- that someone was behind her.

She took this as an acceptable excuse to slow down, turn, and fall into step with her follower.
"Hi," she said. Although its region of origin was hard to place, her accent was unquestionably some sort of British.
