I have just recently gotten the amount of money necessary to buy a Wii, from a store. I don't want to pay the ridiculous online prices so I have taken to trying to find out when stores get stocked.

Since a lot of people on this forum have Wii's I figured I would ask you people how you got them. Is there a certain time stores like Target get there Wii's? Should I call ahead? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a week before holidays. That's how my friend got one.

Waiting at Toys R' Us Early Sunday mornings worked for me. I've managed to pick up a few for family and friends.

When I say early, it really depends on the size of your town. Mine is moderately large, so I get there about 2 hours before said store opens. A good strategy is to hit up Toys R' Us first, then you can hope for some very good luck at Target (Since Target opens at the same time TRU does... 7am at least on holidays...). Though its better just to hit TRU and then if you didn't manage to get one, or if you want another, camp out at your local Circuit City till they open at 10am.

You should note that many CC's have been taking preorders for Wiis as soon as they know for sure they are going to get a shipment on said day. Doing so can save you some grief... just make sure to keep an eye on forums and Sunday ads to find out when and were shipments are coming.

OK thanks for all that info Guitarhero...
Any other suggestions?

Just call and ask when they get the Wii shipments and come before opening on that day.

For me it was just pure luck. I had been looking since like December at any best buy/circuit city/walmart i could. It turned out there was a best buy near my brothers college and when we dropped him off we asked if they had any and they said they'd be getting some on thursday, it was like monday. We had gone out to Sandusky ohio for like 3 days and we got back to Wooster at maybe 3 thinking they'd all be gone but we went anyway and it turned out they had gotten 3 and still had 2 left, so we got it.

Just call and ask when they get the Wii shipments and come before opening on that day.

THe only problem with that is that whenever I ask they say that they don't know when they will get their shipments because they come straight from the Nintendo Warehouse...

Well, I pre-ordered my Wii then just picked up next day.

Come to Indooroopilly EB Games, they have many Wiis. They even have pre-owned ones.

I can only suggest calling up stores and asking when they get their shipments in and ask if they can set one aside. If not, get outside their stores before it opens. Make the judgement how early, then do it.

If you live near New York City, the Nintendo Store there gets them in daily. If not, then just call ahead, wait outside, and pick one up when they get them in. I got lucky, and the Toys R' Us near my house opened preorders November 2006, which they weren't supposed to do, so we got one, and got the Wii as a Christmas present. Good Luck, Dr!

Thanks... I will try calling stores this weekend. The people I asked at the stores didn't look like the most competent employees. I would prefer to talk to the head of the department not just some random person working.
