about the evil teams, why do they give up on their plans just because a child beat them in a pokemon battle?

I think I'd feel pretty inferior if a 10 year old beat me, and I was a 50 year old loser. I mean, these villains seem to have nothing going for them but their own egos over how great of trainers they are. Being beaten by a new trainer right out of the gate probably deflates that ego pretty fast. Nothing else left after that but to sulk in self pity I guess...?

What these teams need to do is run around and kill every 10-year-old they see...it's always a f***ing ten-year-old with some form of headgear who comes from the regional Professor's hometown who messes up their plans.

Really, they should set up a Guardhouse like the one north of Mahogany in GSC before the Lake of Rage issue is done, so that they can murder any new trainers coming out of the first town....

guess they think that a battle determines every issue. and wouldn't you stop taking over a state/country if all your operations, goons, higher ups and yourself were stopped by a kid?

I think that when the leader of the evil team is beaten by the protagonist, he'll be in shock that he got beaten by a kid, and disband his team.

Most likely shame.

But if I was a leader, I'd skip the battle and just detain the little snot-nosed brat. I'd have more important things to worry about.

Well, if a ten year old can mop the floor with you, and all of a sudden you are undefended and he has dragons, you would give up too.

Actually, Team Rocket were the only ones to give up after being defeated by the Player (if we're only talking about main game teams, that is). Team Aqua and Magma awakened Kyogre/Groudon AFTER Archie/Maxie was defeated, and Cyrus showed no sign of stopping when the Player defeated him on the Spear Pillar.

Oh you, Team Rocket
you so silly

Well, Team Aqua and Magma quit because Archie and Maxie realised they were jerks after awakening Kyogre and/or Groudon backfired. Cyrus didn't really give up, it's pretty clear to me he's going to try again (perhaps in generation V). I agree about team Rocket giving up after Red/Ethan beats them, though, that's pretty silly.

Heck, anyone would get depressed when he sees his criminal organisation taken down by a 10-year-old.
