The Game Boy Cable and Wii

I just found a Game Boy Advance cable for connecting the GBA to a Game Cube on the store today, I considered buying it so I could trade between Ruby and Colloseum but the guys at the store said it most likely wouldn't work since we have a Wii, not a Game Cube:/

Is it true? The Wii DOES have an outlet for it, but they said it wasn't compatible? Has anyone tried it?

Yes of course it will. One end of that cable has the same plug as a GC controller after all, and the Wii has those outlets.

I don't know what those guys working there were talking about. It's the exact same port as a gamecube controller so it should be working. Perhaps they thought you were trying to use it for a wii game...
