Any Savoy Opera-ites out there? My housemate is putting on Iolanthe in a week's time. I'm the musical director and it's been 10% hellish and 90% G&Sy fun. (Meanwhile, I've been 100% neglecting my degree. Oops.
) Our version features burlesque-ish costumes for the fairies, a Fairy Queen who weilds a Saruman staff, and a whole load of sexual tension between Lords Tolloler and Mountararat. It's gonna be aaaaawesome. <3
I've also seen productions of The Sorceror, HMS Pinafore, Trial by Jury, The Gondoliers, and Pirates of Penzance. Not The Mikado, sadly, although Three Little Maids went down a treat at this year's Music and Arts cabaret, mostly because one of the little maids was a man in drag.
Fellow fans, speak up and we'll take over the world with operetta! For a starter topic:
Which are your favourite songs?
I like Poor Wandering One, If We're Weak Enough to Tarry, Faint Heart Never Won Fair Lady, and... forgotten the name. The trio from Pinafore with Josephine, the captain and Sir Joseph Porter.
