The GS Ball

The GS Ball was a plot hole. It was used mainly to get Ash to travel to the Orange Islands and Johto.

To this day, all we know is that Kurt has it, and we haven't heard about it in about 8 years.

The writers during Johto didn't quite know how to write story arcs, so they abandoned it and instead gave us fillers about Pidgey delivering mail and an Oddish who thought it was a Hoppip. Oh, and don't forget the infamous Sunflora smiling competition...what a great plot for an ep instead of solving the GS ball mystery!

And now too much time has passed so there's probably no reason to go back to it, sadly.

Johto gave us the biggest plothole of the series, isn't that wonderful?

The writers could at least try to alleviate (10th grade vocab FTW) that plot by having Kurt die they day after they left it with him. He was like 70; wouldn't be too hard to believe.

They could always try to patch it up in a movie, I mean Mew had two movies it was in so why not Celebi?

Besides, its not as if they seem to have a problem brinigng back obscure references from the first season (they've shown Jessilina in a DP episode aswell as Jame's Victreebel)

Oh, I'm pretty sure It might reappear at some time from now.

Now, please, before you try to mock me, I just want to say this. Ash's thunderstone had appeared in D/P almost 10-11 years after it's debut in the Vermillion gym episode, and that would have been considered even more forgettable than the G/S ball. If something like that was able to be referenced sometime after it's first appearance, whose to say that the GS Ball can't make an appearance sometime in the future (Now note that I didn't say "soon", I only said, "sometime in the future", meaning, it could be soon, but it could also be a very long time from now.)

Anyways, that's all for now.

The GS ball as a Macguffin to get Ash to go to Jotho. That is all.

I think it's totally stupid some people try to say the GS Ball was a way for Ash to go to Orange/Johto
They could easily have Oak tell Ash about the Orange League
And Ash decided to go to Johto only because of Gary - only after that Oak told him about Kurt
It wasn't used to get Ash there but was supposed to be something which they for whatever reason decided to randomly abandon
And even if it was used only for that it still doesn't explain why they didn't resolve it

I thout they whould end the GS Ball plot line/plot hole with May, since she is in Johto.

The Thunderstone that Ash had was a Macguffin to have Pikachu not evolve, and that still made an appearance as of recently.

Pikachu could have "not evolved" even without the Thunderstone's appearance. It was used as a way to explain why Pikachu doesn't evolve. I still find it strange that evolving Pikachu is considered "bad" to Ash when he attached Pikachu to a generator to power it up to beat brock :/

Ash was ready to let Pikachu evolve in both episodes. He was just worried about how Pikachu would feel about him after/because of the evolution.

They could actually address it with May, who is currently wandering around Johto (as was mentioned earlier). However they may just leave all the gaping plot holes as they are and forget about them, we shall see.

Really?

The GS Ball contained Celebi. That was the plan all along, but the writers decided that they wanted to save Celebi for the movie instead of just dedicating an episode to it, and because of this decision, everyone thinks a plot hole was created.

What’s the deal with the GS Ball? As I said “GS Ball,” he shook his head and started to laugh, embarrassed. He stated “You’re very sharp (for us remembering that, I guess)” and began to explain it contained a Gold and Silver monster. I asked him if Celebi was in the Ball (since you use it to summon Celebi in the Japanese games), and at first he paused, as if he shouldn’t say, but then said “Yes.” He explained that the writers were originally going to have a whole story about Celebi in the show with Ash and crew, and he made it sound as if the story was more important than the Ball’s function of getting Ash to move around (in fact, he only briefly mentioned the latter part; he was emphasizing the existence of the story more than anything). But, they decided to save Celebi for the movie instead, which is why that plot hole was just left there. He said the writers didn’t know what to do with the Ball after they made their decision, so they were hoping fans would just forget about it all together when Ash and crew left it with Kurt. My impression of what he was saying was that it was all just poor planning. I asked if we would ever see the GS Ball again, and he said no. I think we can safely say the GS Ball case is closed now.

So, there's your answer. Celebi was in the ball. Let's just all say that Kurt solved the mystery of the ball and opened it, releasing Celebi to go free and become the guardian of the forest we see in the 4th movie, calls Ash sometime offscreen to tell him what happened. GS Ball, over.

The end. Now let's all stop obsessing over the stupid ball.

Wow. That actually makes sense.

When you think of it that way...

I wonder if Kurt realized what he nearly wrought on the world (what with Marauder and everything).
