The idea was conceived about five months ago. A friend helped me with the story, and although I wrote a first draft, she asked if I could send it to her for a revision... and well, this was a lot better than what I could handle.

Let me give you a slight background of the story. It's based upon the anime to some extent. I guess you could say a proposed sequal to the 5th movie since the time frame is four years after the "Alto Mare incident". This does contain a spoiler of the movie since the background is explained better, so do take care of remembering that.

Enjoy, I did.

Chapter 1: A Dying Wind

"Marcus? …That's an odd name you chose Gale."

It was one of the first of many things Gale was to be told when she had her second child.

Now; Gale was a Latias. A very rarely seen creature of the pokemon world; a large, flying creature she was; a crimson red and white bird, with a set of long, proud crosswings behind that served for flight, and before her; a surprisingly dexterous pair of hands; more developed than any other pokemon’s. Her face red, with a white under beak, large yellow eyes and a white pentagonal headmarking. Put this all together for an eight foot high pokemon, and you have a very intimidating appearance. Yet, like any other of her species; underneath such a strong powerful exterior, inwardly, to all who knew her, cute, cuddly, and playful.

Although Gale was a pillar of their community, there was one niggling detail about her many others scrutinized.

Everyone else thought she had an… ‘unhealthy’… interest for humans. She did hold a dear fondness for the people; although perhaps she was a bit shy when it actually came to the contact. Maybe it was like feeling trapped in the human’s world, where you took on a human form to disguise yourself and walk among the people. It was lying; but she just felt that… well… they were like her in some way… As a whole, the humans all seemed perfectly good people; at least the ones who weren’t just looking for a pokemon.

Whenever Gale would go out into the outside world; she’d take advantage of the psi powers that her species carried and kept them floating, it was only this way the shy, bubbly Latias could work up the courage to say the casual ‘hi’. Unfortunately, though…

That was then.

This was now.

And their home; the Elysium; had became an in veritable prison where they had enclosed themselves in.

Ever since the day just over four years ago; when a Latios; the Guardian of the sacred Alto Mare Garden, had died. And what followed was an uproar of paranoia, confusion and distress among the Latios and Latias, just after the reported death, no one, except for Gale and her mate could find the strength to forgive the humans for what was said to have happened.

So now they lived here; and life went on; in the growing catacombs they built under the forest, spreading out and growing together; where they are today.

However, perhaps we’re ranging off topic. For the main focus was Gale and her mate; as they were now blessed with the second of their two wonderful children, who they both could only love beyond any imagination.

What was so strange was the questions raised why Gale, and her mate- Archon, as the best possible translation to human terms would be for his name- more particularly would name their children with human titles. It wasn’t just Marcus, it was his older sister; Aliciana.

Which meant another set of questions was to be raised; like why Gale had given birth to a girl and THEN a boy. It was a generation to generation inherited condition that the birth order would be Latios and THEN Latias, why Gale defied this condition was constantly under debate; but was often silenced when the harsher Archon could be seen, glaring down any questioners.

"I don't see what's wrong with it. People name their children weird names too. Even my name is appropriately human." Gale smiled back to her friend Reiae; a different Latias; but almost identical; only a few inches smaller than herself, while she was huddled up against the small blue and white bundle cuddling up against her; hugging close to her new son.

"Doesn't he object to that Gale?"

"Nope, not at all. I'm not taking advantage of it. He knows his children are different."

“Well… I hope he doesn’t get in any more fights… it’s not good to have so many challenging Archon… it’s not good to have the Elysium split by opinions…”

It was true; Archon WAS the leader.

The strongest and highest level of all the other Latios, although not the eldest, he held sway in all matters of importance in the Elysium; conducting each day as it came and organizing problems; it wasn’t good for business to merge with family when so many complained to him about his wife’s… ‘passion’… humans; although a good leader, he did have the tendency to let his temper run when those questions arose.

In fact; it was a far asked question; why the pair were together at all!

Almost at opposite ends in the spectrum from one another; no one knew what either pokemon saw in one another, but perhaps that was just the mystery of love when she and he met, and married, and then became parents.

"I just hope you made a good decision Gale..."

It wasn’t too long before Reiae had left; and Gale found herself occupied again with Marcus; hugging up lovingly against her son; licking over him in a cat like, cleaning manner; keeping him warm and happy, she looked down at his content sleeping features, simply smiling to herself.

She was so happily absorbed with her new son; she barely recognized the new Latias figure who entered, smiling again slowly as she looked up at the barely three foot high creature who fluttered and floated in slowly into this ‘room’ of the home. A smaller, much more childish version who gaped slightly in awe at the little blue and white bundle Gale kept close.

"Aliciana… Why don’t you come in?” She smiled at that gaping wonder; watching her float forward towards her bed silently, eyes widening and the gaping turning to brim smiles as she got closer to Marcus.” That’s right…you haven’t seen Mark yet, have you?" Gale whispered slowly, being quiet as she stroked over Marcus’ forehead gently.

Mark was decidedly Marcus' nickname.

"Of course! I love him already!" Alice gave a hushed exclamation, suppressing an excited giggle, with such an energetic and playful nature as her mother.

"That's good…" Gale smiled, nuzzling her daughter a bit, letting her come closer now too. “You’ll be his big sister now… and that’ll be a big responsibility for you…”

“I know!” She giggled slightly and nuzzled back against Gale; she didn’t want to overexert her mother though; she knew she was tired.

“But… I have something… and it’s specially for you, Alice.” Gale slowly rose up, just a little bit, making sure not to disturb Marcus and from under her; she delicately pulled out a small little box of black ash wood; intricately patterned over with hand carved images of Latios and Latias over various settings.

"What is it, Momma?" Alice watched it carefully, looking it over as she was handed it so delicately and cautiously, as Gale settled herself, she kept examining the new enigma.

"It's an early birthday present for you… Have a peek…”

In her final examination of the small wood box, Alice still looked at it for a bit before she actually decided to pick it up, fumbling about slowly with the little surprise; and moving more cautiously over it as if something nasty like a Gengar would pop out of the lid in a seconds notice, wondering what to think just now.

"Go ahead dear, don’t be shy…"

And slowly, Alice used her complex hands, finding a small crevice in the lid that her finger fit almost perfectly into, prying it open slowly from there; blinking in confusion before she looked with a slight gasp at the black choker lying inside atop a matching velvet pillow; nothing as much special could be seen about the choker except the strange silver symbol etched into it’s center.

"What is this momma?" Alice asked with a slight blink, reaching in to catch hold of the little item.

“This is what people call a choker, it’s like a necklace, but you can wear it as a bracelet too…” Gale gently took hold of the choker; and just as softly took Alice’s arm, wrapping the velvety material round and round a few times, before slowly locking it in place with a silver clasp. “Alice. I know how big you are… Just…” She had to keep herself together, she couldn’t let Alice know… just… not yet… She looked at her elder daughter; who looked at the new bracelet, turning her arm to see it from the various angles; quickly growing on her newfound accessory, and she smiled back at her mother; who fought back tears to try and give her a happy smile.

"It's a little too big for you right now... but it's an heirloom… a very valuable one…that I’ve worn long ago… that your grandmother wore… and so on so forth… It’s been in the Tenkawa family from so long ago no one can even remember it…”

“Wow…” She blinked in amazement.

“And now it’s yours…”

“You’re sure?” Her face lit into a giant smile, nearly yelling out loud when Gale held a finger up.

“Yes… this is a present… just for you…” Gale hugged her daughter close again. “I want you to remember this Alice… Your father and I love you… we may be busy over the next few weeks raising Mark… but please… remember no matter what… we love you dearly… And we would never forget you…”

Alice smiled and hugged back, nuzzling in a little and nodding slightly. “I always will momma…”

"Now… what do you say we make your father a nice dinner before he gets home?" Gale asked Alice, silently getting up, and letting Mark lie there undisturbed, trying to lighten the mood again.

"Of course momma!" Alice replied with a bright smile.

"Sometimes... your mate scares me."

"I know, I know... Gale has an interest for people and sometimes into their habits. But she's no danger… and… well you wouldn't understand."

"We're not human you know..." The elder Latios aside him slowly sighed, sagging and barely staying upright aside him, the wearied old figure watching with Archon the various constructions at work around the Elysium. The pair of blue and white pokemon watched on impassively, there was not much that separated the difference between them and Latias; beyond blue and white instead of red and white blubbery skin, red eyes instead of gold, and a circle head mark instead of a pentagon; that was all the mere differences there were between the genders.

Archon sighed.

No one would really change the others views on humans to what they were originally so quickly. It had been four years already. In those four years he had taken role of leader, and monitored construction of the Elysium, he wasn’t very fond of the role of leadership; but still, when fate called; someone had to answer; and he was the one now who would take mantle. At least his comfort was, when his work would be over; he could come back home to his mate and children. Just now, concentration was needed though, with a home deep in the forest, constructing the catacombs meant finding somewhere to dispose of all the dirt, as they watched several Latios taking away huge mounds of it away, while other worked and toiled to try and build the best from what minimal resources they had.

"Everyone else had an interest before, how is that any different from now? Why does that have to seperate Gale from everyone else now?"

"It's just that..."

"Look…” Archon let out a hard sigh, trying to restrain losing his temper again for the eight time that day. “Please, I just don't want to talk about it. I've been through enough pressure lately with my children. They have a lot to live up to… and they don’t have a single clue yet…"

"I just think the others are finding someone to pick on since you were chosen to have the next guardians."

****Later that day...****

Finally, Archon got home, gradually floating through into the opening of his family’s ‘home’ in the catacombs, where he was to be greeted quickly by Gale, who came up to him brimly smiling and nuzzled up against him, only to have him sigh and look back at her. “You shouldn’t be up just now… You should be resting…”

Gale took a moment to examine him over, looking at him with such a worried expression.

“Dear… what’s wrong?” But when you knew someone you loved for so long; there wasn’t any reason to ask that, you already could sense it when something was wrong with them.

“There’s a lot more pressure nowadays… trying to get construction on schedule… the arrival of Marcus… the others… wondering about you and such…” He shook his head so slowly.

“Don’t let them get to you.” Gale gave Archon a soft rub on the neck, nuzzling in gently against him. “Just because I’m ‘different’ doesn’t mean you need to alienate yourself…”

Smiling, he gently returned the gesture, “Love… you know I’d do anything to be with you… I’d wait until the stars burn out if I needed to for you…”

Gale let out just the tiniest giggle. “Sometimes you never change from the pokemon I met that long while ago…”

“Mmm…Only now the family’s grown a little… and speaking of which; how’re my two little ones tonight doing?”

“At this time of night?” Gale laughed. “Sleeping in bed… I don’t want either of them staying up late; so I decided just for tonight; the two would sleep in Alice’s room… just to let them both bond… brother and sister; you know?”

“As long as they’re okay.” Archon smiled slightly, following Gale to the massive slate slab that served as the dinner table. “Oh… and it looks like both my favorite two girls worked together on dinner tonight!”

"How can you tell?" Gale giggled a bit.

"Well..." Archon held up some rather ‘uniquely’ cut vegetables, to be kindly said. "Alice's trademark when she cooks." No set of vegetables were cut the same way; random little star shapes, some paper thin, others as thick a piece of rubber.

"That's Alice." Gale started to laugh a bit, trying to stop herself, it was a sin to laugh at something like this. “She’s still quite a beginner at this… hopefully she’ll learn to cook better after a little more practice!”

“Well, more practice means more food for my stomache, right?” Archon started to eat a bit and Gale watched. It was a moment of silence for a minute or two.

"You know... I wonder what it feels like to be a person..." Gale suddenly blurted out.

"Hmm? Now what makes you feel that way?" Archon tried to reply back as fast, but some food was in his mouth; but he knew he was in another of these discussions…

"A person is quite interesting you know… We live for so long, but we hardly change. But people do, and I just want to live like that."

"Change can be bad sometimes you know Gale, but I see what you're saying." Archon sighed a little; as suspected; they had entered the discussion of humans; and it would be a long argument with her over why Latios and Latias could no longer mingle with people. “A human’s heart for instance… it is an everchanging thing… never to be filled with one emotion for all their life it is never the same; for one moment they can feel all the love in the world for another; the next to have their hearts drown in a sea of sorrow and rejection…”

“But isn’t that what all creature’s hearts are like? Not just humans…”

“Not ours…” He slowly got up, moving to hold onto Gale. “For me… I have never… ever loved you any less than the moment we realized what this feeling was…” And she held him in return.

"I…I actually envy our children, they get to live with people..." Gale started to get a bit slower, sadder, her eyes watering a little as she tightened her grip slightly.

"Sssssh…” Archon tried to hush her, nuzzling her somewhat. “We cannot change what has been decided… you know it yourself…”

“I… I know… but…” She sobbed.

“We have to be strong now… we cannot let them know yet…” A single tear fell from his eye.

Fortunately though, neither child had the senses to listen in to what their parents were saying; and although not asleep; they were far too occupied with their own things.

You couldn’t just tell a Latias like Alice to settle down and fall asleep! She was far too happy, too excited and playful natured to ever do that; and so in her room; lying together on the bed she quickly discovered how Marcus wasn’t a very good talker; but quite an avid listener; who absorbed everything his older sister told him- as Alice went on and on about the daily happenings, various recipes you had to get juuuuuuuust right, how you made silly faces, naughty little practical jokes she’d pulled only a few days earlier; but more prominently, her brand new accessory their mother had given her.

She even tried to put it on Mark, but stifled giggles watching it slip down his neck as he blinked with a cute little look of confusion why it didn’t fit. Leading from there Alice kept talking, she played Nurse, using the choker as if it were a bandage being wrapped round imaginary injuries and so on and so forth.

Until only a few hours later; when they both lay under the blanket fast asleep. After a lot of fun; a good rest always was all you needed.

Unfortunately; things were not to remain as peaceful as they had been for so long in the Elysium. Even in the most wonderful paradises there would lie a sleeping serpent; and here; there were two.

Perched high in the boughs of a tree near the edge of the Elysium two dark clad figures watched on over the area; with the distinct red ‘R’ marking proudly displayed on both of their Rocket uniforms. One positioned himself higher up in the thinner branches with binoculars; scooping out the target area. “So this is supposed to be the Elysium…? I don’t get why this place has been so hard to find for the last what… four years?”

“Well obviously; no ones been in able to track these ruddy things as well as we have…” His partner spoke bluntly, in the lower, thicker branches of the tree where it camouflaged his sniper rifle; as he viewed through its scope, watching the area carefully.

“Is back up positioned yet, though?”

“Evidently…” The second Rocket turned to look behind them into the forest; as heavily camouflaged rockets could only be made out by the dull glow of the infra red scopes each one wore over their eyes.

The whole forested area was covered with them; left and right. “Giovanni wants no slip ups…”

Looking through the scope of his rifle; the Rocket peered into a 3D polygonized view of the area; only those that qualified as living showed up in a thermal image. So soon enough; when a Latios and Latias emerged from the Elysium’s opening; they both suddenly changed the scope’s spectrum, highlighting them as a violent blue set of figures. “Don’t let anyone else attack yet…” He spoke into his microphone on the side of his head; slowly moving for a straight shot on the Latias. “I want the element of surprise…”

“The moonlight only makes you more beautiful sweet love…” Archon smiled as he admired his wife under the silvery hue of the moon.

“For me… it only makes you even more dashing…” She giggled a little as they stood there together holding hands outside the Elysium and they began to hold both hands; and then, cuddle together, nuzzling cheeks together.

“Ah! There you are!” Laughed the elder; slowly rising out of the Elysium entrance, causing them both to turn and look at him with an immediate blush, before that very instant when everything seem to burst; an explosion of sound tore at their ears and Gale gaped in horror as a single dart burst out and suddenly landed in the elder’s back, a shot meant for them, injecting some vile concoction into him, and Archon glared into the trees as his wife dashed to the Elder.

“GROUND FORCES; ATTACK!!!” The Rocket barely had time to yell it out before he was forced to leap away; the tree blown apart by the massive white beam that rushed out of Archon’s mouth.

And all around, LITERALLY ground forces attack as every rocket threw out a pokeball containing a ground type creature; as Dugtrio, Sandslash, Rhydon, Dunsparce, Golem, Steelix and all other kids of varieties rushed out; attacking the ground immediately; and Archon realized in horror; they were trying to lure out the others! They were going to make all the catacombs collapse and force out every other Latias and Latios to the surface; RIGHT into the middle of them!

“GALE!!!! THE CHILDREN!!!!!! GET THEM OUT OF HERE!!!”

“But what about the elder?!”

Slowly, the old Latios shook his head stiffly, drugged under the paralyzing potion he was barely able to respond. “Save them…”

Nodding numbly, eyes watering, Gale rushed back into the underground catacombs for her children.

“ELYSIUM!!!!!!!!!! WAKE UP AND FIGHT FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!!” Suddenly Archon reared up to full height in the air, screeching out a long, deafening tone of battlecry; a blast of light heralding the signal for battle as it illuminated the entire area.

“ROCKETS!!!! STUN GUNS!!!!” The first rocket was trying to get his sniper rifle repositioned from where he had landed; but pointed out Archon as the target now, as the rockets flung out more pokeballs; others raised bazooka like weapons on their shoulders and immediately firing out small packets of blue gel that so far into the air poured open, scattering up to try and hit Archon, and as he ducked and dived through the barrage, he KNEW not to touch it; when a Latias and Latios flew up straight into the fire, immediately falling in curdling screams, paralyzed by the strange chemical.

“Hurry up….” He growled; firing an attack into the melee of rockets and pokemon. The fissure strikes and earthquakes being created would shake apart the very foundations of the home they had built so hard for!

And Gale could only hurry so much, rushing through burst streams of other Latios and Latias of various sizes and strengths, trying to battle her way through as the pleas she made to try and get past went unheard and drowned out. “PLEASE!!!!”

And with Alice and Mark; the sudden, ominous rumbling all around was terrifying for her and her brother; as they huddled close to one another, darting their heads in all directions for what was going on, scared to death almost, they were too afraid to even move from the spot, beginning to cry together.

“MOMMA!!!!!!!!!” Alice suddenly cried out in fright as a larger rumble and a smashing sound was heard; as the ceiling above them was beginning to crack and huge rocks were crashing down around their home, while all Mark could do was wail in the same fashion as his sister.

And she looked up in horror at the massive boulder that was falling down at them.

She held Mark tighter than ever before close to her; trying to become like a shield to protect him, tears pouring out her eyes, trying to save her brother. “NO!!!!!” And with their eyes clenched so tightly; neither could notice the blaring white glow from the strange symbol on Alice’s choker; a flash of white as a protective bubble covered them both and the rock that had been aiming for them shattered and scattered away to all sides as pebbles.

“Alice! Mark!” Gale suddenly came rushing in, hugging them close, tears pouring down her face as she took them close; both of them gripping back, terrified, but so suddenly relieved to have their mother holding onto them. “Both of you! We need to go! We have to leave for somewhere safe!”

Alice sniffed, but nodded, while Mark just clung to his mother stiff scared of all these confusing, unfamiliar crescendos of noise, quickly his mother put him onto her back; and she took Alice’s hand, leading her out quickly just as another downpour of boulders crashed down and decimated their home, as they desperately made their escape, back towards the surface.

Up there, up back on the surface; things were not doing well; as Latios and Latias pairs teamed up to set up a duet of attacking and defending; the rockets had built up a heavy force of pokemon types to get round them; electric, ghosts, dark and steel types who in gangs penetrated the Latias shields and blasted them out of the sky; as casualties lay all around; falling prey to the stun gels; which could get a Latios or Latias even by a near miss. Archon himself; who lead all the main forces of attacking formations was covered now in electric burns, bleeding cuts and heavy dark bruises, with his right arm dangling broken, and exhausted from waves of attacks, but at the sight of his family emerging from the Elysium, he dived down to them, letting his forces fire psybeams into the rocket forces.

“Gale! Alice… Mark…” He hugged so close to them even with a broken arm he couldn’t hide his happiness; as the ground rumbled under them. “The Elysium’s going to collapse… we NEED to get everyone away from here as fast as possible…”

The elder was still lying there limp, heavily sedated, but clinging onto consciousness; as a team of Latias managed to keep them safe from attack. “Gale… Archon…”

Alice was completely silent like her brother, watching everything happening dumbly. So young and innocent; unused to battle and war, trying to think sense out of all this.

“They…after the children… no doubt…”

Archon grimly nodded slowly. “It’s what we thought… isn’t it…”

The elder, slowly nodded weakly.

“Gale…” Archon looked at his family slowly. “We’ll hold them back with everything we have… You have to get the children to Alto Mare…”

“You’re not coming daddy?!?!?!” Alice gaped, about to dash forward and grab his arm when Gale stopped her, both of them crying still. “I DON’T WANNA LEAVE WITHOUT YOU!!!!!!”

“Neither do I…” Gale said quietly to her mate.

“Look! We need to get rid of the Rockets! And we need the children sa-“

“Archon…” The elder whispered slowly, and waited until the huge male’s attention was on him, thunderbolts and ghastly energy rushing over the sky. “Take your family… WE shall keep you safe…” He reached out and with the last of his strength, touched Archon’s shoulder. “The Tenkawa family… must… survive…”

Archon nodded slowly understanding, and looked at his mate’s worry filled face grieving; it was nothing like her happy face he had grown to love… but… he’d make the rockets pay for this one day… for making his family face this decision… for the tears and blood spilled here…

Beginning to rise; Alice paused to look back, confused, hurt, and afraid of what was going on here. As the fight became nothing but streaks of light in the dark night; the silver hued moon hidden beneath concealing clouds of grey.

It was all the opportunity a rocket needed; pointing out the target for his Magneton; a thunderbolt ripping out and blasting every inch of her body in a searing pain of light and intense burning heat, crackling over her as she screeched in pain, tears bursting out again.

“Alice!!!!!” Gale’s tears burst out like her daughters and she swooped under; catching her daughter as another Latios rammed the Magneton, sending it into the attack range of a set of Psybeams, blasting it away mercilessly.

“COME ON!!!!!” Archon took Gale’s arm with his good one, pulling her up; as the ground over the Elysium was cracking up, pulling her skyward. “EVERYONE SCATTER!!!!!” In this case, now; they would head to Alto Mare; and the others would go off in random directions; it would be harder to be found like this; and it was all he depended upon for the safety of his family, as the ground convulsed and collapsed; the weakened earth groaned in anguish as the Elysium fell in upon itself, erupting into nothing more than a single, giant crater of earthy mess.

Wow.

Wow. Very vey good.

Very quite good, I must say.

Long enough, :) I like longness... but yeah. Anyway, first thing I noted was that you've used the semi-colon quite a bit, most of the time its legitimate, but in other parts you've used it in place of a comma, wherein both clauses were dependant.

And this one: And their home; the Elysium; had became an in veritable prison where they had enclosed themselves in. I think you might want to change the semi-colons to something in the range of either double dash, single dash, comma, or elipses.

The descriptions lovely, I must say...

*hums*

I'm a little confused though, because I haven't seen the movie with Latios/ias in it. *is shot* But yeah... are there many of them? I've read through it, of course, but I never really did understand it much.

But yeah. Just watch for that semi-colon, ^^;

*gapes*

Very long.

*shuts up*
