In this art, you can see there is a little amount of cities, and the gym count would seem low. But then something struck me. What if gyms are not only gyms, but the reason why you travel around? The region is now a big sandbox, and gyms are in a traditional sense, now dungeons. Hiun acts as a central hub, in the sense that its Hyrule City, or Moga's Central City in Monster Hunter Tri. The region is now an underpopulated place, but it has enough citizens to be consider populated. If you check the map, you can almost tell those isolated one off buildings are not random huts, but your destinations, calling for you to come and challenge what's inside. Any thoughts on this?

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

I had another idea.

You travel around to train, advance the plot, and the like, but all the Gyms are located in Hiun City and open up as you progress the game explaining why, at least from my point of view, it appears to be in the center of the map about.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

Makes sense, but travelling to train and go back and forth sounds a bit too tedious, no? While going to Hiun here and there sounds tedious as well, you feel much more better knowing that your travelling has meaning, besides just going out to further the plot.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

I'd like this game to be in the traditional format. It's what we love, played for over ten years and expect, really. Your suggestions are nice, for the Mystery Dungeon spin-offs, but I like the main games to stay true to their original concept; go out and explore the world, travel trough cities and fight the local gym leaders.

I see Hiun City as the new Goldenrod. A very large city, but nothing more.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

Bear in mind however that we may not see the whole map - iirc the sinnoh map had parts fogged out and missed everything east of coronet

Compare the images, and you can say that for Sinnoh its much more likely that it has more area. I mean lets say we know nothing bout the two, except they're regions. Sinnoh would be touted more while Isshu would be considered complete.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

I doubt you could infer actually going into the mountain and reaching its peak as part of the play experience from the Sinnoh image alone. But it happened. What you see isn't always what you get, so honestly, stay tuned and don't worry.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

Yes you never could have seen that, but you could see that there is obviously more to the region, where here you have it closed off. Which is why if this is it, my ide could potentially work, with such a barren region. If not and there is a landmass which is not accessible by foot, then yes I can see your point.

how did I not see this

Though being based on NYC (based on the above pic), you'd (or I'd rather) expect Huin city to be bigger. or at least "Nuked Ground Zero" to be smaller with "Times Square" being larger

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

It's just a drawing, and the damn Japanese text on the right probably cover other towns.

I can see several towns, but remember that most "towns" in the Pokemon world consist of only one gym.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

first i could actually see 10 cities second it is not the full view of the region so there is no reason to think that there will be less gym!!!

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

It's just a glimpse of the region, we'll probably get a full scan later.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

It looks like there's plenty of cities to have gyms in them. They don't have to be that big. Hell most towns with gyms in the previous games are pretty small.

If you mean in the sense that lots of things are obscured, yes its not the whole region. If you mean otherwise, well I'm not getting into it. And I know the damn thing is only partial, but from initial looks it seems likely that gyms aren't confined to cities. Stop burning me about it, damn.

Really, Ghetto? I understand the New York reference, but really?

And more on topic: It looks to be this way, but I personally hope it is not.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

From the picture it looks to me like there's more stuff north of what we can see.

Re: The gyms, now spread throughout the world?

Now that a larger map is shown, I'm more inclined to believe that this theory is correct. Isshu seems to be all that we have seen, and the castle count seems to fit perfectly with the amount of gyms needed/
