…is a child project that I want to start.
The International Pokédex Project is simply an endeavour to create a repository of all official and fanmade Pokémon, and all the information that is associated with them.
Currently, all I have is the indexing system. Here’s how it works:
Each Pokémon, official or fanmade, has a 6-digit index number, with 3 letters and 3 numbers, like this: AAA000.
The three letters represent the Pokédex ID, which is the ID used to determine which regional Pokédex you are looking at. For example, the Kanto Pokédex has an ID of “KTO”. Since Snorlax has a Kanto Pokédex number of 143, it has an International Pokédex number of KTO143.
A single Pokémon may appear in many Pokédexes, and as a result, may have multiple Pokédex entries. For example, the above Snorlax has at least five Pokédex numbers – JPN143, KTO143, JTO230, HNN298, and SNH113. If we count the Ranger games, we also have RFI105, for the Fiore Browser's R-105.
What do you think? Does the project have any merit?
(The idea behind the name: Since the National Pokédex is for all official Pokémon, the International Pokédex would be for that and beyond, basically.)
