The Land Before Time Discussion Thread

I would like to know what people around here at Bulbagarden think of this children's series of movies.

I for one LOVE such a series. I find it to be quite entertaining, and I don't care who knows. It is one of those kids shows that gets viewed quite regularly by both kids and older viewers. I highly honor and respect it for such a thing.

I am such a fanatic that I have collected EVERY single movie the franchise ever made. (Along with the 3 LBT TV Series DVDs.) I also have a number of plushies. Not many, but they're nice to have. I am also a member of a LBT FanForum that is home to people who are quite dedicated to the series. Anyways, I'm rambling here and I'm sure a number of you would like to talk about it. So go ahead and talk about it. I will tell more about what I love about it later. For now, I've gotta go.

I think I only saw the first 4 or 5 (don't know how many there are now), but I loved them too. The third one was my favorite, and the first and second made me cry XD. That's cool that plushies have been released...any Chomper ones?

THE LAND BEFORE TIME! HELL YES! I like the movies, and the TV series as well (in that respect I seem to be in a great minority, but honestly, every episode there was at least five times I laughed out loud) - I especially liked the Pachycephalosaurs from movies 1 and 4, and Doc and the golden Allosaurus from movie 6 (which, in my opinion, almost rivaled the original sharptooth in terms of determination, plus the sounds it made WEREN'T RECYCLED ELEPHANT GRUMBLES so HOORAY), plus the three pterosaurs from movie 7, especially Rinkus. I am also a member of the forum you linked to. Bet it's easy to figure out who I am - not many people seem to like the Pachys.

That said, I'm not a very big fan of the LBT series, but if something comes up, I'll see what's going on, you know. I think LBT 13, The Wisdom of Friends, is IT in terms of the series, so I think it'll be a bit difficult to...retain the fanbase. :\ I don't know. I was kind of hoping there would be one more sequel, one that was just as...I can't exactly say savage or raw, but I'd like it to have the same tone as the original movie.
...And I wish they would release a soundtrack containing the movie-specific music. Because I want Doc's theme, that powerful, sweeping, mysterious, elegant, soft trumpet piano music. I've been wanting it for a long time.

When I was younger I liked it... kind of, see I really liked the first movie, I liked the second movie, but by the time the third movie came out I thought it was a little too much for those baby dinos to survive... If I remember right, around that point, the third or 4th movie, they had survived all theories for the death of the dinosaurs. I just thought that was silly and I was still in grade school.

Now-a-days, my opinion is that it is too much. Geeze... I know pokemon has 11 movies, but land before time just has too much, and a tv series that is more of the same. I just think the creators don't know how to make a new series and end this one! Littlefoot, evolve into a bird already because we know you're never going to die or grow up for that matter, lol.

First off, there's a total of 13 movies along with a TV Series that currently holds 26 eps. Yeah, it's big. ^_^

Anyways, let me talk further of how much I love this.

My favorite charcter happens to be Cera. I just LOVE tomboyish girls. Can't help it! ^_^

My favorite LBT movies happen to be the original LBT and LBT 9. I especially like Mo alot, mainly because of how enjoyable he was through LBT 9. IMO, he really helped it by just being there. Of course, then there's the Sharptooth Swimmer that had a perticularly close fierceness that the Original Sharptooth did. A true predatory villian that came off quite impressively, despite getting temporarily stopped by a cave in.

This is quite a good series I feel and I think it still holds the potential to remain big for many more years to come. They just need to come up with a good idea to get it back on track.
