Since we're only looking at about 30-35 more episodes in the XY series, before Sun and Moon begins, how do you think that things will go down? Here are some events we still have, along with possibilities I could see.

  • Ash's gym battle with Wulfric
  • Team Flare's story arc and Zygarde
  • The Kalos league
  • Learning the secrets of the Ash-Geninja
  • Blazekin Mask still hasn't been revealed to Clemont and Bonnie
  • Possible Elite Four appearances, including Diantha.
  • Ash still only has 5 Pokemon, so he's going to have to get a 6th Pokemon.
  • Ash splitting off from Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie, sadly.
I think Team Flare, Ash's 6th Pokemon, the Kalos League, and Wulfric will take up about half of those I think, though how do you see the rest of the series going.

There are probably 28 unrevealed episodes (certainly not 35) under the reasonable assumption that there will be just one November episode. Ash doesn't "have" to get a sixth Pokemon. Nothing indicates that he will have one even by July.

Your count goes to show how silly it is to complain about the series being rushed because of the games. Realistically, there will be about 14 episodes unrelated to the current plot lines. Hopefully they won't all be fillers, but still.

I'd really like to know when Sun & Moon are going to be released, they said Holiday 2016 so it could be around thanksgiving or Christmas, I think it'll be the later, this way we would know how many episodes are left approx.

I think the Wulfric gym will take place in April or May, then the Ash-Greninja related stuff (maybe battles against Sawyer and Alain again) and TF plot/Zygarde ending around July/August of course there will be a couple of fillers here and there, the league should begin around September/October and then the farewell episodes in late November/early December, that's how I think it'll go.

Some of that sounds about right.

One thing that gets me is Drasna needs to appear since the other 3 have. Also, more Diantha. Surely I'm not the only surprised and annoyed at how they set her like she was important only to make her a glorified COTD.

And I'd almost forgotten about Blaziekn Mask! (then again, so have the writers)

And while I know it's foolish, I hope TF breaks the record for most appearances by a non-TR Team (though I want that every saga...)

Don't forget weeks off for Specials and breaks. We have 2 so far (the last week of March and the annual July break), and there may be more...

Also...there's the issue of an Iris guest stint, which itself is up in the air...

I don't really mind the lack of Diantha. She doesn't play a key role in the games and was pretty boring in my opinion, so I don't think they really need to bring her back again. I also forgot about the Blaziken Mask issue, so I imagine something will come from that. As for the Iris cameo, I think we won't get that at this point. There's no good reason for Iris to show up in Kalos story-wise and with Sun/Moon on the way, she would be less marketing relevant than she would be earlier in the series. It's still not impossible, but I think it's pretty unlikely at this point.

I could see Sun/Moon coming out in December as a final celebration of the 20th anniversary, but I'm leading towards somewhere in mid November just so that they can get more pre Christmas sales for the games. There should be plenty of time for them to cover pretty much all of these points within that amount of time.

I would like some closure with Ash this time. I feel like he has long overstayed his welcome and there must be time for a new protagonist to shine. Just my personal taste here....

I really hope Ash doesn't catch a 6th Pokemon, but borrows Goodra for the league, if there's a league.
Goodra appeared briefly during XY 112, so I think there's still hope.
But that said, I think XY can well be the first gen without a league. A league seems too rushed to me, with all the Zygarde stuff going on.

Here's my prediction:
-Snowbelle arc: possibly 3-4 episodes, as they could cover route 19, pokemon village, Articuno and obviously the gym battle.
-Team Flare semi-climax: Ash Greninja is mastered during this arc. Malamar climax maybe?
-Breather arc.
-Pokemon League.
-Team Flare climax: Possibly happening on Anistar or Lumious city.
-Lumious city series finale: A perfect bookend of the series, solving the Blaziken mask issue and everyone parting ways.

Why wouldn't there be a Kalos League? That has been the main goal for Ash this entire series. Not getting to the League would be extremely anticlimactic after getting all of his badges. I don't think that the Zygarde plot would really prevent them from doing the Kalos League. We probably won't get to the Kalos League until sometime near fall anyway, depending on how long they want it to be and when Sun/Moon comes out.

I also completely forgot about the whole Malamar plot point. Connecting that with Team Flare could be interesting.

It's also where Ash and Pikachu first arrived in Kalos, so having them leave there would be kind of fitting too. We could resolve the whole Blaziken Mask issue, get a nice farewell with Professor Sycamore, have Clemont and Bonnie head back to the Gym and Serena going off to train for the next round of Showcases as Ash and Pikachu head back to Pallet Town. It would get a nice full circle kind of closure to the characters and series.

I wonder if they'd want to go to Serena's hometown. I don't think that they ever went there before, but since they already met her mother in person, I don't know if there would be much of a need for them to go to her hometown.

We also never fully saw Aquacorde Town.

The time where Ash could be replaced has long since sailed away. It's been nearly twenty years for goodness shake. They aren't going to get rid of him at this point. I understand why people would want that to happen and I wouldn't lose sleep if it somehow did happen, but it's just not going to happen.

I feel as though this is the perfect story line that the writers should go for, but we can probably expect they won't and they'll just stomp on our dreams with 20 fillers, 2-3 episodes for Team Flare, 1 episode for ash greninja, 2 episodes for Snowbelle, 1 episode goodbye, 1 episode in pallet. That seems to be their style since they'll just rush to get Sun and Moon up and running.

They only have 8-9 months to bring back the past regional girl... what the Giratina is taking them so long?

I think it's safe to assume Satoshi isn't going to get Numelgon or a new Pokemon.

I question however if Dento will return...
