Hi, KenzeyEevee here. I have been thinking if Ash travels to diffrent Islands but he doesnt get a rival and there arent many trainers doing the Island Challenge how will this effect the League?

They could have the League made up of any trainer who had already completed the Island Trial and is interested in taking part in a Pokemon League. That could result in some trainers in different age ranges, especially if adult trainers take part in the tournament. As for the Champion, I could see future games set in Alola providing a Champion character, especially if there's a time skip between Sun/Moon and those games, but showing an established character becoming Champion would be pretty neat.

I'd say that the chances of a Pokemon League are still pretty good at least. Sure, we haven't heard anything about it yet, but they didn't bring it up in the games until fairly late into its storyline. The anime has always done its own thing rather than be a faithful adaptation of the games, for better or for worse, but I don't see any reason for them to not include an Alola League somewhere down the road. It is kind of a big deal that the Island Trial lead up to the first Pokemon League for the Alola region and that you become the first Alola Champion in the games. It's basically the end game goal of your journey so the anime not including it would seem pretty odd.

they want to make this anime season longer like Johto, wait , I think we will get our first league reverence and badge in the next 25 or 50 episodes. We have enough trainers and rivals to do it.
They wait for Ash team to evolve and become more chalengefull + maybe the creators anime team needs more time to figure out how to animate some new and old moves and abilities they want to use this generation? there is a lot they need to do, show Z-moves, new pokemon, new abilities, new moves and how to make it work with megas and past generations.

Since we're only almost 25 episodes in, I think jt's too early to think about and talk about the league.

It's not too early at all. Gary was introduced in the first episode of the original series, Paul in the second of the Diamond & Pearl series, and Trip in the first of the Best Wishes series. Rivals tend to be introduced very early on. The exception to this is the XY series. Everything took forever to happen in that series (see Serena finding a goal, Serena catching a Pokémon, Ash getting a proper rival in the form of Sawyer, I could go on).

The anime isn't written by Shonda Rhimes guys. We shouldn't be expecting any major plot twists. 40 episodes into BW and people were still saying it was too early to give up hope. I for one knew from the first eight episodes that BW would turn out to be a shit series. So now I get triggered whenever people say "it's too early."

As for the Alola League, there's no reason to worry about the number of contestants. We're not seeing any Trainers taking the island challenge, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Ash had zero recurring rivals in the Advanced Generations series and the Hoenn League's Ever Grande Conference had its fair share of Trainers. Also, I think having four or five Trainers, Ash included, is enough. No need to introduce a large number of characters if they are going to last 30 seconds on the battlefield (Astrid is still crying for not getting decent screentime in the Lumiose Conference).

About a rival for Ash, what concerns me is how Ash would interact with him (because we're not getting a serious female Trainer, that's wishful thinking at this point) should a character be introduced to play that role. Ash is the most chill kind of person he has ever been. He hasn't lifted a finger to go after new Z-Crystals after his grand trial battle with Hala. He is just happy living with Kukui. Maybe he got tired of traveling entire regions on foot.

Now a bold prediction: the Alola League will be a sausage fest with lots of Trainers performing Z-Moves. If Mega Evolution was introduced as a super rare occurrence due to how difficult it is to find Key Stones and Mega Stones and by the time the Kalos League rolled around everyone but Ash had a Mega-Evolved Pokémon, imagine how the Alola League will play out if the requirements to get there is to collect the Z-Crystals.

I feel like it could end in two ways at this point since there is no way of telling how the direction of the series is going.

- A: Satoshi will not take part of a league. Instead, the series will be focused on the trials, school and the potential Aether plot.
- B: Satoshi could mention something about a league and Kukui has interest in hosting one for trainers who succesfully completed the trials. Now this means that it is technically an unofficial league but it's more akin of the Battle Club tournaments.

I imagine we'll see the League in Alola eventually. As mentioned above, in the Sun&Moon games, the Alola League didn't debut until later on in the storyline. Who knows when the anime will debut the League, though. It's always possible that the anime will have no League at all, but I don't see why they would make that decision. After Ash completes the trials it would be nice to see him compete in a League.

I think based off past series and that the game has a league their could be one in the anime, but nothings certain yet.

I feel that they wait to Devolope ash team. All his friends are some kind of rival to him.

I can easily see Kukui hosting a tournament out of the blue and not having any requirement whatsoever. Maybe see some people from other regions drop by just because the don't have to take the time to collect gym badges.

I don't think anyone would be eligible. Just those who completed the Trials, which makes sense.

Normally, I would have assumed the league formation would be handled similarly as it is in the games with Kukui deciding to build one on Mount Lanakila at some point in the middle of the series. But after they already screwed up the first Trail by removing the entire actual Trail, I'm at a loss for what might happen with the rest of the Island Challenge. At the very least I figure there will be some form of final competition Ash competes in before the series ends. Whether it's referred to as a 'League' officially or something else, that's anyone's guess. But I could also see them just ending the series with the Aether Plot getting resolved.

While I do agree it's still too early to talk about the league, I believe that Kukui would probably host a Pokemon League, kinda like how he made the league in the games, if I'm not wrong. Or maybe there wouldn't be a league and Ash would get all 18 Z-moves, plus maybe Pikachunium Z.
