Chapter 1: Ground-Type Doomsday

“Lord Raichu, the report has come in” replied a pitiful looking Magnezone. It was floating above the floor, but that was a good thing; Lord Pikachu, superior even to Lord Raichu had designed a security grid over the Pikachu Power Plant. The floor was a plasma grid that would knock any pokemon that touched it unconscious. But thanks to an electromagnetic field, all Electric-types would levitate precisely six inches from the floor. Of course, a Flying-type would be unaffected, but every door also required a special electric field only an Electric-type would give off. Even if a flying-type got in, they would be trapped within the corridors, and later interrogated when the Pachirisu went on their security scan.

As for the Magnezone, its antennae was bent, it’s left bar magnet was scratched and it’s right screw was loose. It was an effort as it spoke, “You were onto something, but what I do not know. I was attacked by a squad of Staraptor on my way here. Lieutenant Rotom’s spy report also came in. He was informed by Lady Misdreavus that most territories are in an uproar over something that appears to be connected. However Lady Misdreavus correctly believed that Rotom could be a spy for Lord Pikachu and didn’t mention much.”

Lord Raichu, an intimidating figure even in the best of times spoke, “Your injuries… Staraptor are no threats to you… And where is the jet pack…” Raichu’s dark tail stiffened and he focused his eyes on Magnezone. From his large desk, dark orange skin, and abnormal height of three feet, he looked like a judge sentencing a criminal.

General Magnezone spoke, “They were following me. To shake them, I had to fly through Sandshrew’s Desert. I was attacked by several Dugtrio. I must have flown right through their outpost. But it distracted the Staraptor long enough.”

Lord Raichu nodded. Once he had been attacked by Dugtrio and barely escaped with his life, but one question was unanswered, “What happened to your jet pack?”

General Magnezone responded, “That also was destroyed. Thankfully, I crashed into Mawile Factory. Being a part Steel-type, they nursed me to health. Of course they wanted… information. I gave them the location of Dugtrio Outpost. With that known, they were happy to let me return and gave me a helicopter. I crash landed it into the ocean and swam the rest of the way in case they had a video camera.”

Lord Raichu was getting impatient. “Where was Dugtrio Outpost?”

“Exactly inbetween Diglett, Sandslash, Torterra, and Hippopotas Outpost. They have a square gird, but Sandshrew Palace isn’t on it.”

Lord Raichu was grinning, “Lord Pikachu has a hunch where it is. In the exact center of Sandshrew Desert, but underground. We have a Minun investigating that.”

Magnezone suddenly remembered something, “There was a Plusle that said she had reports on a Minun investigating the Desert and said it was urgent, and also something about the center of the Sandshrew Desert. You might want to see about that.”

Lord Raichu said, “You did well General Magnezone, I’ll contact you regarding your next mission soon. And don’t forget to see the Pokemon Center. Send the Plusle in!”

General Magnezone rushed out and Agent Plusle rushed in.

“Lord Raichu, I have reports on the Minun Infiltration Project.” cried Agent Plusle. Agent Plusle looked absolutely regular.

“Proceed, Agent Plusle”

“Agent Minun confirmed the location of Sandshrew Palace 100ft underground the center of the desert. Minun reports that they have a planned invasion of our Power Center on June 1st. We must prepare for this immediately! Apparently, they will strike first with Gliscor and Gligar.”

Lord Raichu began murmuring “Those are the only Ground-types that can survive the corridors. If they do a poison attack on the doors, it’ll shut down circuitry… shutting down the plasma grid and opening all the doors, they can do a mass assault with our only security system down. But how did they know where we were! But if Commander Steelix did business at Mawile Factory who would have video taped our location thanks to General Magnezone… Not good. Dismissed! I need to file an urgent report!”

Agent Plusle fled in horror for her life as Lord Raichu filed a report to Lord Pikachu. “Urgent Status! The locations of Dugtrio outpost and Sandshrew Palace have been confirmed, but there is reason to believe there is a mass attack planned by Lord Sandshrew on June 1st. There is also reason to believe that they do know our location. They appear to be planning to send in Gligar and Gliscor to short-circuit our security and then an all-out battle. Situation is critical!

P.S. Zapdos and Raikou have left our area. According to sensors, they disappeared at the area every other Legendary has vanished at. The Legendaries are up to something as well as the Ground-types. I’m worried.

Lord Raichu,
2nd-in-command of Pikachu’s Power Plant”

Any comments or questions?

WOW. That left me speechless! I wanted to do a fanfic like that for a while, but I never got to it (and I can't write that well anyways). Keep on writing!!!! =)

Chapter 2: The 10th Sandshrew Court

“Please be settled” cried Lord Sandshrew. Like most Sandshrew, Lord Sandshrew, appeared timid. But looking into his eyes you would see the heart and soul of a Pokemon who earnestly believed he was the only hope for all Pokemon. The heart and soul of a Pokemon who earnestly believed he needed to make a difference and could make a difference. The heart and soul of a pokemon that would give up his very life to do that. The heart and soul of a true hero.

The Court however, made Lord Sandshrew seemed much more imposing. The Court was not a legal court where one sentenced Pokemon of committing a crime or not committing a crime and how long they should go to jail for. That was Sandslash court. Sandshrew Court was more of a meeting place for Lord Sandshrew and his advisors, or on special occasions, the townspeople. This was a special occasion. It was the 10th anniversary of the Great War. Lord Sandshrew, was both a pacifist and a speaker, so he couldn’t resist the opportunity.

Lord Sandshrew began from the top “I know that today marks the 10th anniversary of the Great War. What began it, I do not know, but what I do know is this: The Walrein Siege was the first attack, and it was against us. And every other country had an army at the ready. That ignited a fuse that was attached to a bomb that was just getting more and more explosive. We have to stop the fuse before it hits the big bomb here. Rattara Town is losing resources. Squirtle Lake is starting to run dry. Charizard’s Roost is growing restless. Umbreon City is about ready for an anarchy! An anarchy there will persuade everyone else to create an anarchy in their own country! I sense it is not much longer until every one will be destroyed by this war! It has to end. And the only way to do that is to hole a council with the other sixteen Lords and Ladies. I’ll have to work on tipping it off to Misdreavus Isle, where all the information leaks out. After that, I’ll have to tip some more people off, just enough to create a warfront of everybody in Sandshrew Desert. I’ve started the first move by ensuring that Lord Pikachu has reason to believe we are attacking him with Gligar and Gliscor. Although it would be capable of shutting down the entire power plant, that is not the point. The point is to save the world.

One other thing. Every Legendary has departed and taken off. From Mew to Latios to Darkrai, they are all gone. I have a Whiscash on that situation and according to his reports, there’s a suspicious black sphere near the area where the Legendaries vanished. Correlation? I can almost guarantee you that. Nothing Whiscash has tried is working to penetrate it. Whiscash is returning as we speak.

Now here is Sandslash with the latest military reports.”

Sandslash began, “Thank you, Lord Sandslash. General Magnezone under Lord Pikachu has gotten a flock of Staraptor to attack Dugtrio Outpost. Thankfully, the Dugtrio used Dig and managed to hide underground.

There have been no recent attacks against us, which I find somewhat disturbing. Lady Mankey is always ordering attacks against us. But in any event, everybody is building up their armies. A final battle is coming soon unless Lord Sandshrew’s plan works. Do whatever you can to help Lord Sandshrew. Also, we are looking at creating security for the Palace and the Outposts. Construction will begin within a week. It will keep all non-Ground-types out. Of course, there will be special programming to let the other Sixteen Lords and Ladies in. As for the battlefront, once the security system is complete, you will be perfectly safe within Sandshrew Palace. As for the scenario with the missing Legendary Pokemon… We can’t do anything about that for the moment, but I’ll see what can be done. That is all I have to say.”

Lord Sandshrew began talking again in his usual cheery voice, ‘Thank you Sandslash. Do any of you have concerns you would like to raise?”

An upset Golem had one, “That you’re turning our home into a battleground!”

Lord Sandshrew grinned, “Relax. They will be centered around the palace. Stay in your outposts and you will be fine. Only my chief military officers will be here at the Palace. And the security system will protect you from non Ground-types. Anything else?”

The Golem had another one, “What about Mercenaries? How do we know that Wooper over there isn’t a spy for Lord Squirtle?”

Lord Sandshrew was beginning to frown, “You will not be in danger in your outposts. Since you’re going to argue that, listen to this. Let us propose that we were serving under Lord Pikachu and were attacking us. And let’s say that you were one of his commanders. Wouldn’t you command all your troops to attack the palace, and send groups of people in fours and fives to investigate the outpost? There are at least a hundred of you in an outpost. Are you scared by four or five pokemon? I should hope not. You should know how to defend yourselves. Don’t ask idiotic questions!” Sandslash was obviously starting to get mad. All of the other Pokemon filed out, having no questions about Lord Sandslash’s plans…

Sandslash spoke, “That was a good speech and you do make a great point.”

Sandshrew was curious, “Which point?”

Sandslash grinned, “About any other country’s military strategy. That hushed that rebellious Golem!”

Sandshrew gazed down, “But still… What if there are traitors among us. A strong coup within my Desert would change everything. My citizens would perish or rebel. I can not afford either of those. I have taken in several refugees, even a secret agent Minun that served under Lord Pikachu, whose missions were so secret that some details about the mission were even cloaked from Lord Raichu. The possibility of rebels or a coup is strong. I must test their loyalty to the limit. In my plans to end this war just one thing could cause the war to worsen. The war is at a turning part. And the loyalty of my citizens determines which way it will turn.”

Sandslash, dumbstruck, walked away leaving Lord Sandshrew to ponder if his plans were smart and an unsolvable conundrum with three answers. If the third answer was truth, no matter how the plan went, the war would worsen.

I'm glad to see people like my story. Now things start getting interesting... But it's nothing comapred to Chapter 3...

OK. Sorry chapter 3 is not up. I am busy every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I had a lot of homework on Tuesday and I am exceptionally busy on Wednesday. I'm a little over 25% done. I'll probably be able to finish it tonight assuming my sister doesn't hog the computer to look up cheat codes for Pearl...

Once again, sorry.

All right! I got it written, finally. Here comes Chapter 3!

Chapter 3: A Deadly Game of Pokemon Battles

Suddenly, there was a black flash. But not inside Sandshrew Palace. Not inside Piakchu’s Power Plant. On the other side of the island, but off the coast. Within the Legendary Vortex. It was something of a Legendary Pokemon’s lounge. And only legendaries could enter. Palkia made sure of that…

But at the moment, Darkrai was making sure that Cresselia was obliterated with a blast of Dark Pulse. It was intense on Cressselia. Cresselia used Moonlight, instantly healing back the damage Darkrai did. Cresselia used Slash. But Darkrai used Dark Pulse and knocked Cresselia back. Cresselia used Moonlight again… It got old after three minutes watching them fight.

Mewtwo didn’t want obliterate Mew. It had something much more violent in mind. It fired a blast of Aura Sphere at Mew. Pity it would only do half-damage. Mew however used Light Screen. Only quarter damage. Then Mew dodged the attack altogether. Mew then fired Shadow Ball. It hit, but Mewtwo used Recover, healed the damage and tried Psychic. Mew used Light Screen and dodged. Mew then used Silver Wind. It hit Mewtwo but Recover undid the damage… That also got boring fast.

Nearly every feuding legendary duo or trio was fighting in this manner. The opponent would attack. You would dodge or heal. You did an attack. The opponent would dodge, heal, or counterattack. It was monotonous to see, but the Legendaries were somewhat obsessed with the battle. To the degree where they thought this battle was the most intense battle that they had every fought throughout they entire lives. not a single one of them pondered why they were there in the first place. The answer was about to make itself known…

“Good afternoon, Legendaries” replied a voice. It simply came from… the sphere. The black shell that separated the Vortex from the rest of the island. “I suppose you wonder why you have been gathered here.”

Groudon spoke in its low gravely voice, “Not really. You place me here so I could violently decimate Kyogre”

The voice appeared to be upset, “Not even close. In order for you to beat Kyogre, you must be superior to Kyogre. You have been gathered here for a tournament to decide which legendary is superior to the others.” The voice let it sink in, “In addition the winner will win the wonderful prize of being able to stop the War and control all other Pokemon…” The voice could see Mewtwo and its cruel grimace. Zapdos was laidback, obviously thinking about overruling Lugia as master of the Legendary Birds.

All of them had the seeds of greed planted witht hem. They were growing very quickly…

The voice responded. “Round one of the tournament is simple. All thirty-five of you will battle. The first three to fall will be eliminated. After that will be a Triple Elimination in One VS One. Any questions?”

Uxie had one, “What will you call this tournament?”

The voice thought for a moment “The Legendary League…”

The battle had almost begun in Legendary Stadium. It looked much like the Pokemon league in the Kanto region. Every Pokemon was ready. Every Pokemon was bursting with confidence. The voice proceeded to read the rules, “Disobedience in any of these rules will result in disqualification. You may only leave the starting line once the whistle is blown. Once a Legendary has fainted, you cannot attack it. Three Pokemon and only three will faint. After the battle ends, you will each retire to your special room with attendants. Ready. Set.”

Suddenly Deoxys, in Speed Form, burst out of the starting line.

“Disqualified!” burst the voice. Suddenly Deoxys was carried away by invisible powers and escorted out of The Sphere. The voice burst, “I almost forgot. Elimination or Disqualification will result in your being escorted outside of The Sphere and into your home base for the remainder of the tournament. Begin!” The figure blew the whistle.

The remaining thirty-four were in an epic feud. No more of those monotonous fights. This was a war!

Articnuo, however wasn’t feeling it. It preferred to watch those moronic goons finish each other of and bypass the first round. However, it began to rethink its strategy when a stray Heat Wave from Moltres hit in square in the face. Fainted, Articuno was retrieved much like Deoxys.

The thirty-three legendary Pokemon glanced down as Articuno was removed. One more to go until the remaining thrity-two were secured in the tournament.

Thirty of them were silently relieved, but not Groudon. Kyogre would easily demolish him if he didn’t act now! It quickly used SolarBeam, finishing off Kyogre before the others even began to fight.

The voice spoke, “Round One has ended. Articuno, Deoxys, and Kyogre have been eliminated. The brackets for Round Two of the competition will be made shortly. In the mean while, you may retire.”

The Legendaries left the Arena. That was quick. The figure left to work on the brackets. The figure would have to get them done quickly…
