I'm sure I'll come across a lot of these kind of things - good ideas that were almost implemented right, but not quite.

First off for me - the flying to particular routes, it's great for when you want to go catch particular Pokemon and for places that are quite a distance from either town - but they didn't put a way to fly to your secret base! There's even a button on the Area Nav that lets you select a secret base and fly - but it just takes you to the route.

So close...

Anything else others have found like that?

Just taking into account my own playthrough (so far), I don't like the hand-holding. The crazy-cheap Exp. Share and forced tutorials were expected. But the rival's constant pestering and the forced teleports are killing the adventure vibe that I appreciated in the original games. Less "let's throw you into this world and let you explore" and more "go here, then here, do this, then go here."

I don't remember X/Y doing this, but why is it when i go from a town to an adjacent route, it fades out like i was going through a door? That just seems dumb.

That's for loading the areas. XY used gatehouses instead to serve the same purpose.

Not being able to make hilariously bad trending phrases anymore. It's sadly seems it can only be *Item you have on you* + *noun* now (Example: Quick Claw Festival) unless I'm missing something and other words get unlocked later.

Also yeah...the teleporting sucks. They really should make a "veteran" mode next game without all the hand-holding.

Not in every route. For example, R15 and R16 were "continuously" loaded. Same for R7-Camphrier Town-R5. And R7 is pretty long.

Now it's in every single change of "zone". I don't know really if 3DS hardware is that limited.

I assumed those teleports were optional, there's a Yes/No option before all of them, I've been lazy and just said yes to all of them so far, but can't you just turn down the offers of being warped places?

On the route exit thing - I wouldn't mind it, but why play the sound of going through a door when you're just changing screens?

The game corner is understandable. Like I said in the leak thread they probably pulled another gen II safari zone and took it out because they were running late with something to put there that wasn't a updated for 3DS Voltorb Flip.

After playing for a couple more hours, the door sounds when changing maps are starting to wear on me. if they didn't want to continuously load things they should have just added gates to everything.

Not being able to customize the touch screen battle interface like in XY.
Not getting to watch Mr Briney's boat go through the sea routes.
Cosplay Pikachu being limited to Pikachu.
The mistranslation of the contest ranks (again).
Also, some of the music like the Route 111 music has a bit too much going for me and is slightly irritating unlike RSE (I'm looking at you Route 111), X and Y also had this problem (which weirdly went away when not played on an Australian XL)

Whoa whoa whoa, you mean you now have to load each and every route you go on from a town? what the shellmet!? That only happened in like...2 occasions for XY.

The lack of characters from other regions aside from the obligatory Looker. Prof. Birch distributing all four starter sets in the same repetitive way is a result of this.

New Mauville, er Mauville Hills now being a post E4 side quest.

Were they really that desperate for post E4 stuff, but why couldn't they at least up the levels of the pokemon or something!?

You're now able to do all the trainer houses whenever you want and they got rid of all the trainers, they can't change the game to put in the battle frontier but they make changes like this!

You're no longer able to cut down tall grass.

- No customization for the character like in X/Y
- No Game Corner, though someone on Bulbagarden said it might have not been in because of time restraints much like the Safari Zone in G/S/C, but we all really know it was because of censorship.
- Not getting to watch Mr Briney's boat go through the sea routes.
- Granite Cave is too short, you just go straight to the cave where Steven is rather than having to traverse the various floors.
- Rock Smash is an HM again
- Pokemon Centers and marts are seperate again, making things seem less convenient and more tedious
- No more backtracking, characters end up teleporting you to where you need to be at times. For instance, after beating Flannery, you're just transported to Petalburg and then back to Mauville after defeating Norman.
- No Battle Tower, instead the Battle Maison is copy-pasted from X/Y. I'm not bothered by there being no Battle Frontier, but the original R/S had the Battle Tower, is there something wrong with having that?
- Cosplay Pikachu is pointless, you can't even evolve it, it's basically Spiky-Eared Pichu 2.0. Does Game Freak really hate Raichu or something?
- Too much water

Cosplay Pikachu has access to Icicle Crash, a really good and high-powered coverage move.

Meteor Mash is also arguably good against Fairies.

I was thinking both. Like they closed it because of the parental guardians, the EU, and Australia breathing down their necks but at the same time they couldn't think of a fast replacement so they just left it closed.

Some more:
- Gym leaders are waaaaaaay to easy now. For example, I ended up backtracking because I thought I needed a geodude to get past Wattson. NOPE didn't need one at all since my team was like 5 to 10 levels higher than his.
- Not being able to choose your contest costume and being stuck with that frilly pink travesty if you play as May.
- Lack of unisex public icons/trainers. The only reason I chose May over Brendan was because I wanted the Hex Maniac model...and you can only pick trainers of your gender.

A "replacement" does exist, they're called "Pokemon Amie" and "Super Training", imported straight from Kalos, a region based on an EU member nation, especially since Mauville is essentially now a square, indoors version of Lumiose, complete with it's own miniature Prism Tower in the center along with an Electric gym leader, not to mention the Eiffel Tower-like towers on the top. It's like they REALLY wanted to appeal to the EU censors so they made Mauville into Lumiose-Lite just to justify the erasure of the Game Corner from the franchise. Consider this to be the game's equivalent of the Porygon incident, minus the seizures. If they're going to add the Game Corner back to the franchise (like with Pokemon-ified arcade games), they would have to do it in a way that makes them appeal to the franchise as a whole such as making it a multiplayer gimmick. Considering the Game Corner was nothing more than a way to get certain TM's and Pokemon, and now that TM's are now permanent along with the fact that the Pokemon can be obtained more easily though the GTS, it's sad to say that the Game Corner isn't really needed now and is pretty much obsolete no. If we want mini-games, we have Amie and Super Training, even though I feel more comfortable playing them in X/Y than here.

I don't think the Gym leaders are easier, I think they're the same, maybe it's just that we've gotten so good at the games since the originals that it's become instinct to know how to beat them. Yes I am annoyed by the abscense of customization, but it was taken out because of Junichi Masuda's weird habits because the customization was "a part of French culture" as if only French people change their clothing and that every other country has people wearing the same outfit all the time like some sort of cartoon character. Instead, OR/AS decided to go back to the Diamond and Pearl days by having people see the player as another trainer class rather than someone with their own unique appearance original to them.

I really think you're reaching here. I mean really, equating a regulation's board rule to the Porygon incident?????
