Not trying to start a debate or anything, I just want you guys to post what challenges YOU think are the most difficult in video games. :p

Whether it's the Nuzlocke challenge from Pokemon or the Iron Man Challenge from World of Warcraft and many more!

Anyway...i personally think the Iron Man Challenge from WoW is pretty difficult, since you can't equip any items that actually improve your stats and you are stuck with Gray(junk value) or White(Common value) equipment. I've never tried it before, but it'd certainly be rage inducing if you die a lot attempting this challenge.

Try playing Little King's Story without bringing citizens into boss battles. Some battles (like Duvroc, Onii King and most of the Guardians) are possible to defeat in this way, but they're hard to defeat like that. Especially Duvroc, who takes hours to defeat using that method.

I think me and a friend concluded that any Disney game made from a retro system like SNES was created to be ridiculously hard. I still haven't beaten The Lion King, twenty years later.

This. Played it at a friends house before and we couldn't complete it, that game is too difficult.

I'm more of a casual gamer so my definition of difficult is probably a bit low, but one of the more recent games that proved hard was Metal Gear Solid 5. Though the main story itself wasn't too bad, the endgame missions which required you to repeat previous missions with more restrictions and more powerful enemies were pretty difficult.

On the pokemon side, most of the main series games are laughably easy, so much so that they aren't even that fun. However, certain rom hacks and RPG maker games offer a greater level of difficulty. Pokemon Reborn in particular is pretty challenging, both in the overworld puzzles as well as the battles.

The most challenging and frustrating I've come across is the side quest to get Lulu's celestial weapon in Final Fantasy X. You have to dodge 200 lightning bolts consecutively. Unfortunately I'm to impatient to have ever actually hit the 200 mark.

I think a twitch plays challenge given the game and enough people, is pretty hard.
also, a PMU fire emblem run (which means that the people on the FE reddit pick which units have to be on your final team)
they usually pick the characters with bad growth rates or crappy base stats or both.
another hard one that was JUST created, a FE redshirts run, in which you kill named unit every chapter, so by the end of the game you only have your lord to beat the final boss with.

Any acheivement that requires you not dying for your entire playthrough. Depenging on the game, this may not be too bad, but if it's a Nintendo Hard game like Shovel Knight, you've got your work cut out for you.

Also, Etrian Odyssey Untold on Expert or just any Etrian Odyssey game in general. Need I say anything more?

Like Drake, I'm pretty casual, so I may give some that others find easy, but the thread asks for my opinion, so my opinion it shall get. Shovel Knight's "Plague of Shadows" mode, I can't even clear levels one, Plague Knight's jumping with bomb burst is just too weird for me. And Nuzlocking Black, I got about halfway through, screwed up a battle, and lost everybody. Gave up after that.
Maybe by the time I'm forty I'll be able to get past the level with all the hyenas.
Wow, I'm impressed, you can reach the level with the hyenas.

I'm trying to play through all the Mega Man games without taking a single hit. It's not impossible as there are people like Roahm Mythril who have accomplished such a task, but it's something I'm trying to do and after the 110th time on certain bosses, I think I am just wasting my time. The levels themselves are not the problem, it's the bosses as some do not have defining patterns and attack whenever they want without any warning.

I will not give up! I will do this!

I don't even want to think about the X and Zero series stages and bosses, as some are brutal even when taking damage. *shudders*

at least ZX toned it down a bit.
I personally tried beating the ruby weapon and emerald weapon in final fantasy VII without healing, it was brutal.

Ok, I tried Plague of Shadows again... It's actually not as herd as I thought it was. Once I got my head around the mechanics, some parts of the game are actually EASIER as Plague Knight. And it once you grab a few arcana, and buy the right potion mods from Mona, you can skip past SOOOO many platforming sections, and be perfectly prepared to kill anything you might come across. Yeah, this mode's definitely nowhere near as hard as I thought it was. I stand by my Black Nuzlock opinion though.
