All right everyone, since the last thread was four years old and full of people who hadn't been to the site in years, I'm starting a new one!

If you don't know what beta readers are, they're like proofreaders, and they can help your stories and writing.

This thread is for beta readers to advertise their services. If you're a writer and you'd like to take advantage of their offers, PM them. Which means betas--you'll have to be able to take PMs. Make sure you can before you post your application.

Also, potential customers, if it's been a while since the beta's initial post, check their lookup to make sure they're still active.

Oh yes, and betas, say what you're more familiar with (certain characters, certain mangas, even completely different series), and what you WON'T read.


Anyway, I'll offer right out front. I specialize in reading fics about Team Rocket. Any agent, any time. The only ones I'm not well-versed in are the Special-exclusive ones. I'd prefer if the fics you want me to read are under thirty pages at a go. I'd also prefer to be chatting with you on some messenger while I read (my contacts are on my lookup).
I've also got knowlege of the Digimon tv shows (but not the games), Final Fantasy VI, and Batman: The Animated Series.
I'll read for a variety of characters, but I really don't like Ash, so keep him to a minimum.

I read almost any kind of fic, Pokemon, Harry Potter, Original or any other fandom that I like.

First of all, I'll check your fic and see whether you have potential and then it's time for betaing.

I'll focus on grammer, obviously, as well as plot and description.

So, if you're a new writer who wants help or an experianced one looking for a proofreader, PM me ;)

Jeez. Fandoms. Lessee... Metroid, Castlevania, Fire Emblem, Zelda, and Transformers are the first ones that come to mind. I can also probably handle Pokémon, although only stuff relating to the games (i.e. no anime). There are probably also a few others I'm just not thinking of, so if you're interested, PM me and I'll see what I can do.
 
I'm in to be a beta-reader. I'll read anything and everything, and I'll be big on looking things up if I don't understand them, so don't worry about fandoms or anything.
 
Hi, I'm new around the site, but I am offering my services as a beta reader. Before anyone emails me, I would like you to know what qualifies me to be a beta reader. First, off I make A's in all of my classes, and I am also in all of the AP classes. Second, I am also knowledgeable in a lot of types of anime/games/books/ and I am not afraid to look up things, however, I do not know a lot about the Special mangas, so if your fanfic is about them, you need to find someone else. Beta Reader to check for game mechanics here. In case your battles seem impossible. Other than that, I'll be glad to check your plot and description. Pokémon games and Special only plz *is shot for internet speak*.

I'm happy to betaread. For any fandom at all, I can do comprehensive spelling and grammar fixing; I'm real good at that. But for a proper betaread, I am familiar with all generations of Pokemon games, most characters in the anime, Volumes 1-7 of the Special manga and I'm good with game mech (E-team, Ice Beam is not, I repeat not super effective on Gyarados. It is not a Dragon type!!)

Other fandoms? I'm good with books, so I can beta Harry Potter, Alex Rider, Artemis Fowl and many others. Anime-wise, I can do Pokemon (as I said above), Ouran High School Host Club and Bakugan. Manga? Just up to Volume 7 of Special, sorry.

I know jack about Digimon, so don't ask me to beta that, unless you just want a spelling/grammar check.

I'm around quite often! Feel free to approach me, even if you just want to know how a particular sentence should go, or what the past perfect of a word is! ;-)

I'll beta read... anything, really. I'm familiar with Special characters up untill the end of the GSC arc, most anime characters, and understand most original characters pretty well. I, personally, specialize in stories with huge plot-twists, so I'm fine with those, too. Also good at spelling+grammer.:-D
 
I want to betaread. Grammar, structure, plot, etc are at near-professional level.
I am a master at proofreading, if I do say so myself.
 
hi! my name is kasey, and i'm interested in being your beta. ;)

i've been a part of the gifted program for language arts for four years (i'm 13 years old). because of that, i have had several experiences with nitpicker teachers...and while they've rubbed off on me i still don't like being nagged, so i won't totally rewrite your work. even if my perfectionism kicks in. i promise!
i have a ginormous vocabulary and a generally good understanding of the english language, so if you just need someone to proofread your work and spice it up a bit i'm the person you should look for.

if you want solid evidence that i'm a talented writer, i'm afraid i don't have much to show, as i can love one of my pieces at first and then feel embarrassed that i wrote it ten minutes later. but if you want me to write something for you as an example before deciding you want me to betaread for you, please don't hesitate to ask!

i'm pretty much open to anything - i have next to no morals anymore. gaudy relationships, abuse, a story filled with people who swear like sailors, plain old sex...throw it at me! however, i will not read or critique gore since i get queasy, or stories that contain animal/pokemon abuse. sorry, but you're going to have to find someone who REALLY doesn't have any morals for that.

as for what fandoms i'm familiar with, here's a list:

pokemon (mainly game-verse; for spinoffs, PMD1 & 2, pokemon colosseum)
death note
ouran high school host club (sort of)
tales of symphonia (my favorite!)
super smash brothers (brawl and melee)
and probably some others i can't remember right now.
 
I'd be quite happy to Beta anything really, gives me a chance to improve myself as well!

If you read that, you'll see that I like game based stuff a lot. I'm good with game mechanics, so I can make stuff make sense if that's the kind of thing you're looking for. I haven't played Mystery Dungeon though, and I've barely played Ranger, I have played all the main series games plus Colloseum though.

I'm also up to date with Pokemon Special right up to the end of the Emerald arc (just about to start DP) and I love it, so anyone reading something Special based, I will more than happily help out with that.

I'm not really a fan of the anime, so you're better off going to someone else with that.

I`m looking for a beta reader.

The thing is I just started writing my first fic about pokemon ever. I think it`s a journey fic (I forgot what trainer fics and journey fics were XD)- a badge/contest quest, pokemon league etc. It`s set in the anime pokemon world and I`m trying to keep it as close to the cannon in the anime as possible.

I`m using original characters, I`ve already came up with some of the rivals and I have pretty much most of the story in my head, even tiny details like the jokes! (Well, honestly not all the story but at least to Oreburgh I`ve planned it in detail :p).

Now the bad stuff:

Since I`m not a native speaker of English my vocabulary sometimes runs short...it`s irritating when you could describe a scene so vividly in your native language and not being able to do so in English when you need to...

And there are some general problems like: Did I describe him enough? Is the description interesting to read? Is there to much dialogue? Are the battles intense enough? And so on....

Oh, and the fic takes place while Ash journeys in another region so I won`t use any of the cannon characters.


That`s all folks... I`ve already written chapter one and I`m planning to post it in three days time unless someone is willing to beta read it.

Man, I forgot to say I've found a Beta 2 weeks ago... sorry...but I'll be glad if you give my fic one of those lenghty constructive critizism filled reviews...don't overcritizise, though.

Oh really? Well I was late xP Okie, and I will xD I promise not to over-criticize.
 
Haven't been around for a while, but I'm back now and I'm willing to beta one or two fics at a time. I'm fairly familiar with the TV series although more so with games; I haven't read any of the manga, so I'm useless when it comes to that. Anyway, I'm happy to read most fics; my particular strength is in grammar, punctuation, language etc, but I can help with plot, characterisation etc as well.
 
I am willing to give a good beta-ing.
I would love some original stories and Pokémon fics. If it is to be pokémon, I will only know the main series games and animé up until advanced so, I'd rather either game based ones or OC's in animé universe.
I am a grammar Nazi and have a large vocabulary so you would be in luck with my servicea

I am also looking for some betas for my fic Lessons in Pokémon. Some of the Chapters are already up on the forum.
I'm looking for a beta because I want more than one or two perspectives before posting.
