The New Girl: Is This the End of Kris?!

Recently, new artwork was revealed which strongly suggests that Kris, Gold's female counterpart in Crystal Version, will not reprise her role for HeartGold and SoulSilver.

There are at least two possible explanations for the female character depicted in the new artwork:

• This is a new character meant to replace Kris for reasons unknown, possibly because Kris was not in Gold and Silver, and these are not Crystal remakes.
• This is, indeed, Kris, simply having dyed her hair (or perhaps before she dyed it blue?) and wearing an attire which renders her barely recognizable.

Who is this girl? And what shall become of Kris if she has, indeed, been replaced? Let the debate begin!
