Ok for every one who has seen the new poster with Ash/Hikari and the new guy, your probaly curious as to what he will be doing in the new group. He has know name as of yet, will he be entering in the Super Contests? Will he just be the background character who does the cooking? Will he be Hikari's brother? Will he be Ash new rival?

I think he will be Hikari's older brother and will be entering in the super contests, that way he's given some thing to do besides cooking and won't just be the new Brock/Tracey. Any ways go on speculate ^_^
 
I don't think he'll be doing Contests. I don't think there will be Contests at all in the D/P series.

I think he'll battle much more than Brock did though, because he looks more like a young trainer than a mentor.
 
Theory 1- Brandon (when he was a child) was transported in time to Ash's time by Diaruga, and believes Ash can show him the way home.

Theory 2- Former Galaxy Member who realizes his wrongs, and join Ash to stop them.

Theory 3- Judai, Jindai (Brandon's) son who is already a well known trainer, and Brandon asks him to accopany Ash and observe him and learn from him.
 
^ I support all three of those theories.

They all sound like good possibilities, too.

It amazes me that so many people think D&P will be darker and more story-based. :p We all know how much the writers love to shaft everything with potential.

I just hope he's in the game, actually. Anime-exclusive characters as the main cast makes it obvious how unconnected this series is with its base.
 
He looks like he could be Nanakamado's son to me actually. Or Grandson. I doubt he'll be doing the contests - having a clip of Pochama doing an appeal is a fairly good indication that Hikari is doing them.

If he's Nanakamdo's Grand/son, then I would imagine that he's joining with the group to experience the world of Pokemon outside of books. Or maybe he, like Hikari, is starting off on his journey too. Either way, I see him already having the knowledge behind him - which is why I would consider it a fair possibilty of him being related to the Prof.

You need SOMEONE to do the exposition and explain away the stunts that the group pulls in battles and he could fill that role. I'd like it if he wasn't totally relegated to the background though. A third quest for him to follow would be nice but I can't really think of anything other than, POSSIBLY, Underground related stuff.

The anime managed to make Contests work, maybe they could do the same for this feature.
 
Oh man would theory 2 be nice, maybe both he and Hikari are related to the Profeser and are cozines, too bad the new guy won't be doing Super contests. If Hikari does them some May fans will consider her to be a May clone =/
 
I can't see the New Guy doing contests.....

Unless he is really tough, and has his Pokemon act like Pro Wrestlers.
 
If they wanted to do Contests or have a mentor on the group, they would have kept May and Brock.

I don't see a reason to introduce two new characters just for them to be rehashes of May/Brock. They revamped 75% of the cast for a reason, not to have new characters do the same things the AG characters could do.

Isn't there something in the games where you have to beat Galaxy members as a goal or something? That would connect with Hikari, and the New Guy is probably just an extra battler.
 
Rumoured their may be Galaxy Leaders based off the planets.

Maybe this new guy is like a cop?
 
I'm guessing that he does the super contests, because they gave him the fire starter (May rip-off ^^).

More of an assumption. We already know one of them is named Mars, so having other named after planets is totally logical.

Zack Pluto (totally) needs to battle a lot. Hikozaru looks like it will be a really fun loving and agile pokemon.

That's what I was thinking too, he might not be as important. He could be Ash rival and is just included on there becuase he's new =/
It would be intresting if Hikari/Ash were the only cast.
 
No, it is definitely a trio. It just means that NewGuy won't have as large a role as Ash and Hikari.

That's why they make posters like this. When you have a trio, you put your main guy in front, your token female to the left, (with the suggestive pose no less), and your secondary male to the back. It implies their importance right from the getgo.

Yah too bad, it would have been better if they had the guy in some sort of compettiton so he won't become the new Brock/Tracey, oh well he looks pretty cool. I'm also still curious as to who this new rival is for Ash in the up coming D/P episode, that was random for me to say. To make his character more intresting like I said before they could just let him be Hikari's brother. Since he's older the relationship would be different from May's/Max.
 
It's the popular 2-guy 1 girl trio dynamic that Naruto has made all the rage. It's carried over into other anime series like Digimon and now Pokemon, it appears.

* Take one happy go lucky moron protagonist.

* Give him a tad ditzy, feminine, motherly girly-girly female companion

* Now add a pretty-boy, angsty rival who thinks the other two are idiots but somehow ends up forced to work with them.

Ta-da. You have the current "in" cliche anime team dynamic. The two boys get to argue. The moron gets to feel lust for the girl, the girl gets to lust after the pretty boy, and the pretty boy gets to stand off in the distance and pose as the wind whips through his hair as he broods.

Now just add in the monsters / superpowers and you're done.
 
Really Pokemon had the trio thing happen long ago, it was orginally Ash/Misty/Brock Than AG changed that to Ash/May/Max/Brock and now its back down to trio group again. So Naruto did not start that trend as far as I know. I like the part of Ash drooling over Hikari though, that would be funny to see LOL.
