This thread is for everything to do with the new producers of the animé - except the voices. You can discuss the new writers, music, etc.

And please do not flame and spam. It is very annoying. Also, if someone tries to make a good point, please don't call them a broken record.

I personally like the fact that PUSA keeps some of the old 4Kids music, because I actually liked some of it, notably the song used during some battles, like at the end of Fear Factor Phony (which was remixed just for that episode).

As I stated before, the producers are the same.

It's the dubbers that changed.

Oops. I meant the producers of the dub. I'll change the title.

The openings are still changed and the background music still rarely kept, so it's same old-same old.

The only real noticeable difference between the two dubs are the voices, some new background tracks, and a lack of eyecatches. Don't really see what's up for discussion. o.o

Personally, I hate the fact that they don't have any eyecatches.

I mean, ever since Pokemon's been on TV, there's always been some kind of eyecatch. First it was Who's That Pokemon, then it was Who's That Pokemon (again, but with a hint at the bottom), and then it was Trainer's Choice which had a nice variety of questions.

Now there's nothing, and that gives Pokemon less of an anime-like feel to it. I don't like that. I want them to make a new eyecatch, or continue with the Trainer's Choice.

About the music, I have no complaints, other than the fact that with Pokemon USA's dub, they don't seem to be very consistant. With some episodes, they use more 4Kids songs, with others they use more Japanese songs.

What they should do with the music is do what 4Kids did. I think they tried to keep some Japanese songs with each episode (like the game songs and Advance Adventure), and whenever there was silence in the Japanese version they would use 4Kids background music over those scenes.

Also, I want everyone here to know that I don't mind 4Kids' BGM. In fact, I like it. It has a nice sound to it, especially any of the BGM that they use from the movies.

I don't really dislike 4Kids' music as much as dislike the fact that its used in place of original music or silence.

Wrong. What they should do is just kept the music. That way there would be no complaints in that department. :p

The main reason I don't mind the abscense of eyecatches is because they took up time, which led to one-or-two seconds snips here and there in the actual episode. I never really minded it that much and it's a really minor thing to be concerned about, but we do lose an entire scene every once in a while. ...oddly enough, the new dub likes to add seconds to episodes. o_O

I don't mind the eyecatches, however. Although I think if they want to do them, they should just use the original eyecatches instead of making error-filled Trainer's Choice segements.

The best thing is that they took away Trainer Choice. 4Kids basically showed their stupidity when they got it wrong. Arbok evolves into Seviper? wtf?

As for the eyecatchers, I would have liked them to use the japanese eyecatchers. They were enjoyable. I like that they use their own music and keep some of the japanese as well. And I also love that they don't do pointless time cuts. That was just annoying. They freeze frame it at the end of the episode sometimes. That's what I love. 4kids music was meh, I guess that's why I don't really miss it that much...

Except 4Kids music is a constant precense in the series still...

Why do you love seeing the same frame for longer than it was intended to be shown? o.o

The only problem really is 4kids played the music at the wrong times, and were ADHD with it.

Heh.

I didn't mind that.

But I guess that's just me. XD

I'm actually not picky when it comes to the background music in Pokemon. I like both the Japanese BGM and the music that 4Kids used.

Of course, I would love it if they kept more Japanese BGM because it just sounds nicer, lol. XD

EDIT: Yay!! It's my 4,000th post!!!! :-D

I also miss the eyecatches. I tape each episode, so it's hard for me to guess when the show will be back.

Also, doesn't the guy who did Trainer's Choice, Lawrence Neves, work for PUSA now? I seem to remember that being a point of contention.

Yes, he does work for Pokemon USA.

And his name is in the credits. I think it started with either Advanced Challenge or Advanced Battle. I can't remember which season.

It says:

Pokemon Bumpers Written By

Lawrence Neves

Anyway though, you can't blame the Arbok/Seviper thing on 4Kids since a Pokemon USA employee did it.

I remember a post where Maddie said something about this topic, but I can't remember what she said......

I remember Maddie saying that Lawrence didn't start doing TC till the 8th Season, because of the Arbok.Seviper mistake and the others in Season 7.

One thing I'll give to the "4Kids is evil" crowd is that the Japanese BGM is often really good. It would be nice to see the non-lyrical music stay.

Even when PUSA said they would be keeping it, they were still going to fill the gaps of no music with 4Kids-type stuff. And that would have been fine since there is a point to it.

But, gaps of silence do have a purpose. It builds certain emotion when used right.

I also dislike how little game music is kept (outside battle themes). I mean, most US kids could recognize them since they hear them all the time.

In some cases, yes. But I can only think of one case off the top of my head where silence was used for effect in Pokémon. (When Charizard's tactic against Dusclops suddenly failed.)

I liked 4Kids music and Original music and PUSA music. They were all great.

That's true.

I mean, they only played the Ecruteak City song twice in the dub, if I remember correctly. One time was in "Goin' Apricorn", and again in "Tricks of the Trade".

Hmm... did PUSA keep the silence when Metagross KOd Pikachu in today's episode?

Ecruteak City had an animé song?!? Gotta hear it! By the way, everyone I know who likes Pokémon either likes the show and doesn't have Game Boy, or likes the games but hates the show. Plus, those jerks at 4Kids couldn't tell the difference between game and normal music anyway. [SARCASM]By the way, did anyone know Arbok evolved into Seviper? Amazing![/SARCASM]
