This thread will be concerned with The Passage, and the stories related to it. The universe is which these stories will be set in has not been named yet, and when it does, the title of this thread is likely to change. For the Digimon, the Japanese names are used for consistency, and you can refer to Wikimon for those Digimon, as well as any general explanation, as this thread will only deal with things that appear in the stories, and the stories themselves will be in charge of explaining the concepts that are introduced in them.

As always, comments and questions are greatly appreciated in the story itself, as opposed to this thread.

Digimon Journeys 0.1

Originally, these stories were going to be in a set of 10, from Digimon Journeys 0.1, and working their way to up to Digimon Journeys 1.0. Each story was going to focus on one tamer, but continue with the one comprehensive story that the first story launched. The plot was generic and followed a "Monster of the Week" formula, although there were mini-arcs scattered around the story.

Digimon Journeys 0.1, the first in the series, featured a main character named Alex, had 9 episodes, and showcased 47 Digimon. The goal of having ten stories was to have all the Digimon make an appearance in the series. 0.1 featured all 10 tamers, and 0.2 was going to follow Max. The hope was that, by the final story, all tension will have come crashing down, and as all the characters had a share of the spotlight, their survival would no longer be guaranteed.

The series was abandoned sometime in 2009 after my interest in Digimon waned, and going through it over the years, I picked up on some story lines that I found interesting, and after some failed attempts of reviving the series, I finally published the first chapter, and renamed the first story to The Passage. While it will not feature 10 stories, as the goal of including all Digimon now seems asinine and tacky, the new series will still consist of more than one story.

The old "Episodes" will be published, eventually.

TP - Chapter Summaries

§1: Many New Journeys: After Owlmon finds a DigiTama in a battlefield, he makes it his duty to rescue it, but a certain Shutumon wasn't going to make it easy for him, and he ends up getting severely injured. Meanwhile, Mireille and Liollmon, another of Owlmon's rescues, are anxiously waiting for Owlmon, and after he returns beaten and torn, with a new companion, Mireille decides to take him to the human world for medical treatment, and to find a human partner for the new Dorimon.

Trivia:
  • The title of this chapter is a nod to the title of the original story, and the fact that this is a rewrite.
  • Originally, an Ornismon was supposed to chase Owlmon.
  • Two characters were supposed to appear in this chapter, but they were moved to the second chapter for length. One of them, Michael, gets a mention at the end of the chapter.

Owlmon

Owlmon

Gender
Male

Level
Adult [Highest, Irreversible]

History
He had come across the Digimental of Love as a Wormmon, and it evolved him into Owlmon. He tried and failed to find a goal in life, as he thought that the ability to fly was not something to be taken lightly. He met up with humans, and while disdainful at first, he recognised their value and decided to team up with them to bring peace to the digital world. His compassion for much smaller, helpless Digimon drove him to the goal of rescuing as many of them as possible from certain death, and to take care of them.

The Passage
§1
During one of his nightly routines, Owlmon attempted to rescue a DigiTama from a battlefield, and certain death. The egg started to hatch, and the noise prompted Owlmon to carry out a rash rescue. He dived to get the egg, making even more noise in the process, and managed to get a Shutumon on his tail as he tried to fly away. The ensuing chase left his wings and tail severely damaged, and he had to take shelter in a forest with the newly-hatched Dodomon.

The following night, Owlmon provided food and a quick bath to the baby, and flew back to Mireille. His wing and tail still damaged, the young tamer decided that he should go back to the human world to seek medical attention, which can be provided for him in the headquarters. Reluctantly, he travelled to the human world.

Personality
Owlmon is caring and fatherly, refusing to see any newborn in trouble and not intervening, deeming himself to be inherently bad if he does nothing. However, he also believes that everyone should be allowed to make their mistakes in life, and to stumble before finally gaining their footing. As such, he is sometimes a harsh father to those who consider him as such, and is quite headstrong. He can be arrogant at times, and has an integral dislike for humans, connecting with only the Fletcher family.

Appearance
Most of Owlmon's body is covered in armour. Red goggles shelter his eyes, and enhances his sight. Considering the fact that he is a nocturnal Digimon, the goggles also allow him to see at night, and grant him with infrared vision. His wings are brown and coated with feathers, which makes him a silent flyer. The symbol of Love is printed on his head, as he evolved using the Digimental of Love.

Family
Liollmon [Son], Dorimon [Son]

Trivia
He was the first Digimon to appear in The Passage, and the third in Digimon Journeys 0.1.
In 0.1, Owlmon was a very minor character, having only one line of dialogue.
He was the caretaker of the Village of Beginnings in 0.1.

Mireille Fletcher & Liollmon

Mireille "Max" Fletcher

Gender
Female

Age
17

History
Having grown up with tamers, Mireille knew about the existence of Digimon since she was a baby. Her parents retired from that profession after giving birth to her, opting for safer jobs. Mireille grew fond of Digimon, and decided to pursue a career as a tamer. Her parents approved of her decision, and at the age of 15, she got her own Digimon. She took care of the Popomon until he was a Liollmon, and though she kept up with her studies, she wanted to pursue being a tamer as a permanent career.

The Passage
§1
Mireille was waiting in a cave for Owlmon's return, and she refused to go back to the human world when he was late. After a day has passed, she insisted that she and Liollmon go to seek him out, but the Digimon refuted all her suggestions. Mireille was unable to do anything but wait, until Owlmon returned. She requested a portal to be opened from the digital world to the human world, as well as for Owlmon to return with them in order to get properly treated, and broke up a scuffle between Liollmon and Dorimon.

Time passing differently in the human world than in the digital world, Mireille was only an hour late to her parents when she went through the portal. She handed Owlmon over to receive the medical care he needed, and vowed to find the perfect partner for Dorimon.

Personality
Having grown up with Digimon, Mireille was friendly towards the creatures as she was towards humans. She doesn't understand why the existence of Digimon should be kept a secret, but despite that, she has not told anyone about them. Mireille worries a lot, and is quick to assume the worst and make bad decisions when she thinks that one of her loved ones were hurt. She's a loud and direct person, and she often has to tame those qualities.

Appearance
Her hair is cut short for ease and convenience, and is a light shade of brown. Her eyes are dark green and pellucid. She is too skinny, and combined with her paleness, she is often noted as looking sick.

Family
Alden Fletcher [Father], Courtney Dubois [Mother]

Trivia
She was the first human to appear in The Passage, and the second in Digimon Journeys 0.1.
Her name in 0.1, Max, ended up being a nickname in The Passage.
0.2 was going to focus on her.
Her original theme colour was gold and yellow, in 0.1.
Her creation was inspired by Fujieda Yoshino.

Liollmon

Gender
Male

Level
Child [Highest: Adult]

History
As a Popomon, he was rescued by Owlmon from a battlefield. He was given to Mireille to be her partner, and the pair bonded straight away. Through her care, he quickly became a Frimon, and after some training, he became a Liollmon. Similar to Mireille, he grew up around humans, and unlike other Digimon, learned of their existence. During one of the many expeditions he took with Mireille to the digital world, he achieved the level of an Adult, and became a Liamon.

The Passage
§1
After decided to wait an extra day, Liollmon had no choice but to wait with Mireille, and had to reject all her propositions of going to seek out the late Owlmon. After his father had returned, Liollmon developed some jealousy towards the new Dorimon, and got into a slight fight with the young, headstrong Digimon that Mireille had to break up. The group returned to the human world shortly after that.

Personality
Liollmon prefers being alone to the company of others. He is mostly a quite Digimon, and his experiences before being rescued by Owlmon left him with a very blunt view of death. He is very loyal to Mireille, but recognises that she tends to have some unreasonable requests, and often times ignores them for the sake of keeping her safe. Liollmon constantly wants to prove himself to Owlmon, and has adapted many of his qualities for the sake of being considered "special".

Appearance
Liollmon resembles a lion cub. He has golden fur, and his tail resembles a thunderbolt. Red hair sprouts from the top of his head. He has blue eyes and sharp teeth. Liollman has a necklace around his neck, with an emerald hanging from it. He has large, strong paws.

Family
Owlmon [Father], Dorimon [Brother]

Trivia
He was the first Digimon to appear in Digimon Journeys 0.1, but the fifth in The Passage.
He likes stuffing himself in tight places.

Friedrich Baumfelder

Friedrich Baumfelder

Gender
Male

Age
64

History
After discovering the existence of Digimon, Friedrich decided to pursue a career as a tamer. Through his intellect and determination, Friedrich proved himself worthy of becoming the captain, and he achieved that rank after just 10 years of service. He worked with Alden and Courtney many times, and as such, he started feeling protective of their daughter when she became a tamer, and took it upon himself to accompany her on her first missions.

The Passage
§1
Having worked with Mireille's parents in the past, and developed quite a close bond to the Fletcher family, he agreed to Mireille's proposition of handing in the report the following day. He informed her that Michael was just leaving, and she could catch up to him.

Personality
He is a very lax person, opting to observe from afar than to get directly involved. Despite looking intimidating, Friedrich is a very friendly person, and is quick to make acquaintances and friends. He is quickly influenced, and even though he is the captain, he is very humble. Having no direct family of his own, Friedrich considers many of the new, young tamers to be his children; always at odds with Owlmon, but the fatherly nature is the only thing the two can agree upon.

Appearance
Friedrich is a tall man, and is always seen wearing his signature black and white suit, with a red tie that stands out against the monotony. He has dark hazel eyes, and matching brown hair, which is very short.

Family
None Known

Trivia
He is named after Friedrich Baumfelder, the composer.
In Digimon Journeys 0.1, he didn't make an appearance until the end of Episode 7, and was much less involved.
In 0.1, he wasn't named, and was just known as "The Captain".
