As of now we have 5 "Sagas" So to speak
OS, AG, DP, BW, XY.
The last 2 are simply rehashes of the first 2. It seems to go in a cycle with Ash starting as a complete noob where he rushes the gyms and gets his ass handed to him at the league. Then he gets better and joins with 2 trainers and a little kid where he has less starters and pokemon in general, doing slightly better but in the end still not enough due to the fact that unashamed DEM can only go so far. Then the "DP" so to speak concludes the triumvirate of sagas with a competent and less silly Ash, a serious rival and Ash needing to be put down with extreme prejudice for the cycle to begin again.
So we can predict the general outline of each region by simply subtracting the order it appears by 3. So BW since it was the fourth, is a rehash of the first, XY as the fifth is a rehash of the second.
