I noticed that in pretty much all articles of Gen I-II Pokémon, there are... Pokédex entries for Pokémon Stadium 2. However, even though I haven't played Pokémon Stadium 2 in a long time, I don't think it solely uses the Gold entries (unlike what the articles on Bulbapedia would lead one to believe). If I remember correctly, if you have Gold in the Transfer Pak and access the Pokédex in Pokémon Stadium 2, you'll see the Silver entries. And if you have Silver in the Transfer Pak, you'll see the Gold entries.

I don't remember clearly what happens if you have Crystal in the Transfer Pak, though. I very faintly (with huge emphasis on "very faintly" -- as I could be wrong) remember it being based on some unknown factor -- I faintly recall that when I used Crystal, it showed Gold entries, and when someone else used Crystal, it showed Silver entries. Again, I faintly recall this. If someone else can confirm this, then that would be great.

With that said, is it even necessary to have Pokémon Stadium 2 Pokédex entries if they're different depending on what game you have inserted? And someone who has Gold and Stadium 2 is going to be confused when they use the Pokédex in that game and notice that the entries are different from Bulbapedia's. I'm suggesting that they should be removed entirely (especially after somebody does some research on the Crystal part), but that's just me.

What do you all think?

Well then there's even further research needed... remember, Stadium 2 could connect to RGBY, too. So we gotta find out what THOSE entries are (hey, maybe we're wrong, and the Red/Green entries that were in FireRed appeared in Stadium 2...), and all that other crap.

If Crystal's varies, I'd bet it's based on Trainer ID number, like everything else that varies is.

I'd bet [bp=$1]2¢[/bp] that the same might be true of Stadium 1 as well. I know for a fact that entries do vary by game pak in Stadium 2 due to owning three compatible game paks, but can't verify it for Stadium 1 since my only Generation I game pak is Yellow...

I think that Pokémon Stadium uses its own original entries, and they're the same no matter which version is used. I'm fairly certain about this, but if someone can confirm this (I only have Red, but I know someone who has Blue), that would be great.

As for Pokémon Stadium 2, I very faintly recall seeing the entries for Gold when Red was inserted in the Transfer Pak. Perhaps I should get out my N64 which is collecting dust and confirm this...

Well, I always think that the Pokémon Stadium Pokédex entries was useless, because it really like the games' entries.

So have we had any of these checked yet? I'd love absolutely to check S2 for GSC's entries, except they kinda all died.

I could check RBY... but yeah.

I know I've been very forgetful at checking all the entries, but today I remembered to do it. I have Red, Gold, and Crystal, and I know someone who has Blue and Silver, so I was able to check these five entries (unfortunately, I don't have Yellow; hopefully somebody else here does...). Amazingly, the batteries still work in all the cartridges that I used, or else I wouldn't have been able to do this.

So, basically:

- Red uses Gold's entries.
- Blue uses Silver's entries.
- Gold uses Silver's entries.
- Silver uses Gold's entries.
- Crystal uses Gold's entries.

So... there. The only one that I wasn't able to get was Yellow. I'm assuming that Yellow uses Silver's entries, since Crystal uses Gold's.

That also means that since they are different depending on version, either the PS2 Pokédex entries should be removed from the Pokémon articles, or maybe include multiple entries for PS2, with small footnotes somewhere explaining that different versions use different entries.

We can just kill the parameter.

What about Stadium, what does that do?

Hmmm, I haven't checked that yet. However, from memory, I'm 99.6% sure that PS1 uses its own original entries, regardless of which version is used. I'll double-check this, though, and will get back to you on that when I do.

EDIT: Yep, I was right. I checked both Red and Blue and it made no difference whatsoever. PS1 has its own unique entries regardless of which version you use. I'd be surprised if Yellow was any different.
