There is an odd lack of discussion around "that other Pokemon series" here. Let's do something about that, shall we?
So, what is Pokemon Sunday? Pokemon Sunday is a weekly Pokemon series airing every Sunday on TV Tokyo from 7:30-8:30 AM (which corresponds to the early Saturday evening American time, and around midnight between Saturday and Sunday European time). It's been on air for slightly over 4 years as of today.
The episodes consists of 4 segments. "Pokemon Revival", which has recently been renamed "Diamond & Pearl Returns" is a rerun segment showing an old episode from the anime series. As the name change indicates, they're currently showing Diamond & Pearl episodes.
The main segment of each episode is hosted by the so-called "Chief Golgo", "Professor Red" and the pop idol Shokotan, along with the Pokemon research group "Robert" and a couple guys dressed up in Pokemon costumes, the most prominent being "Director Lucario". These sequences can be about anything, though there are a couple recurring themes, like looking up some kids who are particularly skilled in a certain field, or the Robert group challenging each other in various bizarre contests. Prior to the release of new movies and games, these segments are often used to provide previews, trivia and behind-the-scenes looks of these.
"Sunday Pokemon News" is a short segment used to announce various promotional events and releases, and "Pokemon Game Arena" is a game-oriented segment where we get closer looks at new, or upcoming video games and card sets, "in-depth" presentations of advanced strategies, and game tournaments where kids can get on air and battle the hosts (with a new Platina tournament starting next week).
Most episodes have all four segments, though Sunday Pokemon News is obviously only present if there actually are announcements to make, and Pokemon Game Arena is cut every now and then, as well. Pokemon Revival was once replaced by the airing of the at-the-time all-new second Pokemon Mystery Dungeon special, too.
