I was looking up about the imfamous Porygon seisure episode when I realised, Porygon 2 and Porygon Z haven't been in the anime.

Now I know Porygon Z may still have a chance to show up but it got me wondering.

Do any of you think they kept Porygon 2 from the anime because of Porygons episode dilemna?
((I've checked Serebii's Animedex and it says Porygon 2 hasn't had an episode))

No, I think it's all one giant coincidence. That Porygon 2 is the only Pokemon from a previous gen to never appear isn't connected with it being related to the Pokemon that caused mass seizures at all.

Oh, wait, the complete opposite.

Yes, it's very clear that they're never going to use the Porygon line in the anime again due to sensitivity regarding the unfortunate incident that occurred in the past.

Yes. I'm wondering whether they're stopping the Porygons being shown to prevent Japanese kids or adults-now-that got affected, from getting remembered about the seisures.
Although it'd make sense because they wouldn't want complaints.
It'd be a shame cause I really like the Porygons.

I don't see why this needs to be discussed at all.

When someone in Japan makes a huge blunder, they try to cover up all evidence of it ever happening and never bring it up once more out of shame.

The Porygon incident was such a huge blunder that they won't relive the embaressment by showing anything related to the event (Going into cyberspace, and the Porygon family).

This was the episode that almost got the show canned back then. Plus the Japanese goverment made a law about strobe lights on TV after the event (Also, kids were dumb enough to sit too close to the TV at the time so that's partially to blame).

It was Pikachu, not Porygon that caused the seizure, but since they didn't want to take Pikachu out of the show, they just removed Porygon to avoid upsetting people. I think it's kind of extreme, especially considering the evolutions are gone, but that's just me.

It wasn't fair for Porygon to be blamed for this. Pikachu was the one who caused the flashes! IMHO Porygon Z should have an episode about it!

Unfortunately, we have to accept the Porygon-family ain't gonna appear in any more episodes. Bringing it back would make everyone remember about that infamous incident. The same could be said about the earthquake episode.

Barboach and Whiscash have still managed to appear after the incident. But the Porygon episode was a lot more tragic and well-known around the world; I don't remember The Simpsons or South Park parodying an incident correlated to the Barboach and Whiscash.

Besides, do we want another four month hiatus?

I'm just wondering why GameFreak keeps making up new Porygon evolutions when it's clear they're not going to get advertised as well as other Pokemon. I guess three "banned" Pokemon out of 493 isn't enough to fret over.

It would be tragically hilarious if they decide to use Porygon-Z, but end up giving people seizures again completely by accident.

I'm not sure about tragically hilarious, I just hilarious would do ;-) Honestly, they shoulda banned Pikachu for the incident! How dare it get away scot-free whilst Porygon rots away in Gamefreak's jail cell of doom, never to be seen again?!

Gamefreak doesn't make new Pokemon with the anime in mind. They just make it for the cash.

Well...the Porygon episode was such a long time ago now, and, the episodes are more carefully drawn out soo that no seizures are caused now, too.

I think they should show Porygon Z in a later on episode...I mean, it's not like the same thing could really happon again, right?

And hey hey...I wouldn't want Pikachu banned, I love Pikachu! :( And it is a bit odd that Pikachu's Thunderbolt would be red and blue...But what matter's is that they learned from that mistake, and it hopefully won't happon again.

But I guess we can't blame them for not wanting to show the new Porygons anyways....meh....

Technically they could put the porygon evos in anime, just not do what they did before. They'd never make the same mistake twice right?

Is it gamefreak who comes up with new pokemon?

No, I don't think they would...if they did, that'd be pretty stupid, because Pokemon's been on for like, what...13 years now? n.n Soo yeah.

And, I think they do come up with them...but i'm not really sure.:-/

Uh, Gamefreak comes up with everything, since they're the company that actually makes the games. :p

I understand that the family was banned for the seizure incident, but banning a Pokemon who continues to make appearances in the video games (including Pokemon Snap, which was a game that had more in common with the anime than the typical Pokemon game and didn't even have to include Porygon), the trading card game, and even got a cameo in one of the movies (which take place in the same continuity as the anime), just seems a bit counter-intuitive to me. Not to mention banning its two evolutions, which also had nothing to do with the incident.

Which one?

According to Bulbapedia, Pokemon Heroes. It was in the "World of Pokemon" thing but it still makes you think "If they're so adamant about banning Porygon, what's it doing there?"

Its only a 1-second cameo though. It still doesn't count as a real appearance.

Yeah, but it alone is more than can be said for the other Porygons. Sadly.
