Not really much to go on here as of yet, but are we all agreeing that this is probably the male PC's design?

Honestly quite like what I can see if it is. Its simple and works fine. It also seems fitting if this is a warmer region.

Edit: Ok people think this is a fisherman which I think is a fair point and agree with them. So disregard what I'm saying :p

Someone mentioned that could be a fisherman. But it does look suspiciously like Red.

Girl is gonna wear shorts. That's an easy bet.

I think the girl in the pick up truck is the female pc or close to it.

Looks like Red. It'd be cool if they let you pick player characters from all the gens for the 20th anniversary.
I strongly disagree. The player characters are supposed to have different journeys; treating them as interchangeable avatars wouldn't sit well with me at all.

Using their attires for customization is a different story.

I don't think so... it's just a randon NPC, or even Red... unless it is a kind of sequence which Red is the main character, I hope the playable girl and boy don't be so generic... Serena is kind of blonde Leaf, and Calem looks like PIXIV Red. Nothing against, i think they are pretty, but let's vary a little the main character clothes and hair style. Specially for the boys.

Don't need to be something over the top like lyra hat and Rosa ponytails, though

Female character is Sailor Moon; true story yo.
Rosa again?

I wouldn't be surprised if the default male looks something like Red.

Although I actually think it would be cool if they took an approach similar to Fire Emblem (13 & 14) or Battle Revolution, where there were several protagonists to choose from the game's different age divisions (Junior, Senior, and Master). It just sort of hit me during the direct, when they were showing all kinds of different people playing the game throughout the years.

Young adult player characters would be nice. The series has been heading that way since Black 2/White 2.

They are comfy and easy to wear, after all.

Actually if the girl next to Red evil twin is the main character... that would be pretty cool. She's in a dress, and we've not got a main protagonist wearing dresses. She resembles a bit Jasmine though

Seems pretty standard for a player character design if that is to be the player character's design, but personally I'm really getting sick of every male protagonist trying to look like Red/Ash, because it makes the male player characters all indistinguishable from each other and just seems lazy.

I really hope they keep customization in the game and not have us use Trainer classes on the PSS like they did in OR/AS, because it makes my journey feel more personal rather than be stuck with the same character model all the time.

I would love it if they did something similar to Battle Revolution and have several different characters with different body types and age groups to choose from, but I highly doubt that would ever happen since they likely will stick with the same target audience the franchise always has aimed itself towards, and would likely just have a single 10-14 year old male and female to choose from like in every generation before that.

Changing hair style and color shouldn't be such a time-consuming and expensive affair this time, either. They could make it so one of your parents is a hairdresser, so you can talk to them to change up your style for free.

Agreed, considering doing both is affordable irl. It could be like Animal Crossing, 3k.
And you could change your skin tone by staying on the beach, if there's one.
