I like Brock, I'm never one of those people who says I dislike that that character or this character. Brock was awesome in the beginning. He hasn't been a big role. In the beginning he was the guide of the crew. Ash or Misty would ask him for advice. Now, Ash has grown mature and suddenly became a mentor like to May and Dawn. What is Brock's purpose on the show? Now he's just boring.

Brock was a good character in the first season, I agree with you. He played like a big brother role to Ash and Misty, he was very knowledgeable on a lot of subjects and gave them advice like you said.

Then he was replaced with Tracey because they were afraid people didn't like Brock's appearance, and a lot of fans got upset. Tracey's character never lived up to its fullest potential, in my opinion. He didn't get half the character development he deserved, we don't even know that much about his past.

Brock came back in Johto BECAUSE there was such an outrage about him leaving, and ever since then it's been downhill. They've abused his character.

The same thing happened with Team Rocket. Butch and Cassidy were originally meant to be replacements for Jessie and James, but the fans were so upset, it never happened. Now I think Jessie and James are around for good.

He's basically the Friar Tuck to Ash's Robin Hood: An older character who knows very knowledgeable but doesn't usually take part in the main action. He's also pretty good at being Ash and Dawn's personal maid.

Brock always bails Ash and the main female out of problems, he keeps them fed and whatnot. I want to see Ash repay the debt by protecting him from Team Rocket or something someday. Maybe Brock will lose to Saturn in the final showdown against Team Galactic and Ash will step in to help him.

This was brought up in another thread but Brock and Dawn's interactions are either non-existant or extremely forgettable. Dawn and Brock have almost no chemistry together, and they honestly hardly feel like friends.

I honestly can't think of any memorable scenes Dawn and Brock shared together off the top of my head. Its like the writers aren't even trying to make interesting friendship moments between him and Dawn.

The character development has gone down in recent years.
I mean, look how many one episode characters get character development?
They shouldn't have character development, they should be allowing the main characters develop their personas.
Not to mention the amount of reaccuring characters that are not very entertaining nor interesting (if you ask me any ways, the rivals are getting better though).

There is still character development in the series, its just that Brock doesn't get any of it.

What the purpose of Brock ?! Ash will die without him...The hunger!!!...
Seriously, Brock still plays the more knowlageable character. And he is the group`s navigator after Max left.

Brock is the chef, babysitter, advice-giver, mediator, older friend, referee, and most importantly, he lives for Takeshi no Paradise.

Well its hard to say what exactly is Brocks purpose in this show, but you could say that he is somekind of mentor and older brother to Ash and Dawn. Not to mention he also cooks and takes care for them along with trying to achieve his goal.

However lately i find him boring and feel like he needs a small break from this show.Personally i would like if he gets replaced with someone more interesting like Misty(for maybe a season or two). Not to mention there is barely any interaction between him and Dawn which is rather unpleasant.

So in my opinion they should either give something more for Brock to do or replace him with someone else.

1. being funny by hitting on girls.
2. And feeding the crew, remember one of the early Hoenn episodes? Ash May and Max are starving, while Ash tells them how his pal Brock was such a good cook, and then Brock appears and feeds them. Yupz, it's true.

3. Oh, and Brock also is there to say when Ash for an instance battles a double battle against a torkoal and a gastrodon and uses water gun on the torkoal, but instead the water is drawn to Gastrodon.
Ash: wait, what?
Dawn: why did it hit Gastrodon instead of torkoal?
Brock: that's because Gastrodon has an ability called Storm Drain, all water attacks are drawn to him.
^ a scene like is sooo typical.

Anyone notice Brock's DP team hasn't changed at all since Happiny hatched? Not that I expect him to make another capture, he only had 3 Pokemon in all of Hoenn after all, but I'm surprised we didn't see Happiny evolve...so he could get Blissey by the end of DP.

I hope they rush through its middle form if it does 'cause Chansey is in almost every episode with Joy.
