A Silph Co. blimp floats overhead as spectators eagerly await the start of the race. There is a long line drawn in the sand that participants patiently wait behind. The area selected for the starting line is deep in the heart of Fuschia city, surronded by impressive looking buildings on either side.

Professor Juniper stands next to a well-dressed Silph spokesperson, just in front of the racers. Juniper pulls out a microphone to speak: "Helloooo trainers! I hope to see you all in Unova at the top of those huge stairs! (she grins) Please try and remember that there is more to this race than being the 1st one to cross the finish line!"

(As if she can sense the tension in the air, Professor Juniper holds up a large green flag)
"On your marks, get set, and GO!" (she waves the flag) The race had begun!!

Julie Cord had just finished a jog around some streets of Fuschia City, as well as some Warm-Up Exercises. She was preparing for this big race to Unova, until Professor Juniper announced that it was starting. Luckily, she was already near the starting line - so she just trotted there calmly.

She got into position with the many other trainers competing. Then, the woman's voice rang out in her ears as a blaring signal. "On your marks, get set, and GO!"

Julie shook her head to try and shake off the somewhat unpleasant sound still ringing in her ears - causing her to lose a bit of her concentration - as her legs, as if on instinct, pushed her forward. She didn't go into full sprint right away, of course she did not. She would save most of her energy for later - there was no need to go full power, at least not yet. However, she wasn't that entirely slow either - pretty average in a way.

She smiled, the sun wasn't shining too brightly. And she hoped it would last that way throughout the whole race. A relaxing breeze blew by, causing her blond hair to sway as she ran. Fortunately, she had tied it up so it would not be of any inconvenience. Her jade green eyes looked on ahead, determinedly.

Calvin and Camille happened to be very close to the starting line, having finished heir warm-ups a long time ago, and were sitting and resting. They quickly got up and started walking when the horn blared and nearly took their ears out. Their walking speed was about equal to a power walk from years of athletic training. They weren't concerned about the other competitors unless they directly affected them in some way.

Bowie heard the signal to start but did not begin moving right away. "Well lets see now, I guess the 1st thing to do is decide on which route to take." He fired up his old school Poke-gear that he wore on his wrist. It may not be as high tech as some of the newer models but it had never failed him before.

That rumor about the super long underground tunnel sounded neat but on the downside he would not be able to catch many pokemon if he went that way. Bowie brought up a town map and after looking it over, finally made up his mind.

"My little princess, I choose you!" (Rapidash came stomping out of her pokeball)We are going to run up the bike path to Celadon city, are you ready for this?! Rapidash reared up on her hind legs and made a noise that Bowie could understand as "HELLZ YEA!"

(being careful not to burn the other racers) They then leave the starting line in a huge blaze of fire!!

OOC: Are we supposed to wait for the others to post as well, so that it would seem fairer/so they get a chance to start, then we continue on with our next posts?

(OOC: On this first day I would say sort of yes to waiting. But the final ranking is broken up into 3 categories so you are not required to wait)

Maya giggled, this race was going to be so much fun. She needed fun. She wasen`t in a hurry to get to Unova, she had thought that is where she was trying to escape, but things happen for a reason. She giggled again when "go!" was called and flipped onto her hands, then preceded to walk on then. She watched all but some competers race ahead. She had no idea how she was going to get there, she giggled as she thought off where she would go, she had brought no maps so, she relied on what she could remeber from traveling in the circus. She once again giggled, then still upside down, raced off.

Blazing a trail out of the city, the giant fireball that was Bowie and Rapidash sped toward the western exit. Bowie tried to shout to the other racers as he passed, "If you cant take the heat, then get out of the kitchen!!" But it was unlikely that anyone would be able to understand him as his words would be distorted by the wind and the flames.

Reaching the bottom of the bike path, Rapidash confidently hops onto it and begins her climb. "C'mon, you can do it! Dig deep!" Bowie yells encouragement.

OOC: I just realized I'm not good with geography.

Julie paused for moment, but not because she was tired; and definitely not because that Rapidash had somehow had an effect on her. She had slowed down to think, jogging off to the West Exit - or rather, Route 19. This was the only way she knew of to get out of Fuschia City... Unless...

She snapped her fingers, as if a light bulb had turned on. Heading over to the beach of Route 19. Here was all the sand and rather warm air.

"Charizard, I choose you!" She called out her faithful Fire-Flying type, quickly commanding for him to use Dig. Since they were standing on sand, it was much easier for the Flame Pokemon to go, go, go, and go under the ground.

As Rapidash raced up the narrow bike trail Bowie was practically standing on her back as he cheered her on. Occasionally wild pokemon poked their heads up out of the tall grass but Bowie was too focused on getting up the hill to notice.

Sometimes a bike trainer would show up to challenge Bowie to a battle. But since the trainers were always going downhill, they were never able to quite catch Bowie and Rapidash, who would always move to the side to avoid the battle.

Finally Rapidash trotted into Celadon city at the top of the bike path. Her flames were smaller than they had been at the start of the race, which showed that the climb had tired her out. After resting at the Pokemon center they would get moving again..

Maya headed for Fuschia City, on the way she dicided when she got to the sea she would catch some water types to help her across to Cinnabar, then she would think of what to do next. She raced inside of the city only to stop for a bite to eat then headed to the shore, she saw someone take off on a pokemon, she had to hurry to get ahead, she stood on the shore and breathed in the salty air, and remebered the words of Professor juniper and pulled out a fishing rod from her backpack and casted it off into the sea, after what seemed like forever the bobber started to shake, Maya realled it in and landed a Magicarp she took a deep breath jumped into the air landed on her hands and prepared to ctach the pokemon, it was just a magicarp so she didn't need to weaken it, she took one of the pokeballs and threw it at the Magicarp she watched it shake back and forth till she heard the sucsessfull PING! Using her hands she thrusted her self into the air and landed back onto her feet, "Yes," she carefully grabbed the pokeball and put it on her belt then cast her line and waited for the bobber to move again.

Bowie decided that he needed to catch at least one pokemon before going into the tunnel. Looking around the grass just outside of Saffron city, he spots a wild Sandshrew! "Thats perfect! Poke ball, GO!" The ground type must have been bored because it did not try to break out of the ball. (Sandshrew joined Bowies lineup)

After the successful capture, Bowie headed for the Magnet train station. Inside he is greeted by an elderly train conductor. The old man sees Rapidash and suspects what Bowie is about to do.

Old man: "I don't think you need that fire horse down here youngster, unless yer looking for some kind of secret passageway."

Bowie: "So it really does exist?!"

(there is a twinkle in the old mans eye) "Heh heh, long ago they say that one of the Battle Subway masters expanded a line out so far that it winded up leading to nowhere but anyone who has been to the end of the line can tell you that there is indeed another tunnel! All you have to do is keep going until you reach it!"

Bowie asks, "I am kind of in a race, how long will it take to reach the other side?"

Old man: "Well now I dont recall anyone ever making it all the way through from one end to the other. I have a train to run you know."

NO ONE had ever made it?! Bowie was starting to have 2nd thoughts about this shortcut...

Maya pulled up yet another magicarp, but for some reason she caught it and added it to her party, "Yes," she said and leaped into the air and added the pokeball to her belt, Then sent her line out again and waited for the bobber to move, this time it happened as soon as it hit the water, with a smirk on her face she pulled with all her might and gasped at what she saw.

He had already come too far to turn back now. Bowie enters the Magnet train tunnel that leads to Johto.

Panels on the tunnel walls emit a pale and faint light. As Bowie walks further along the 2 lane Magnet train tracks, he thinks that it probably would have been a good idea to make sure that the trains were not running today. "Oh well, too late now." He thinks out loud.

It was a large Magicarp, bigger then she'd ever seen, "let's go," she flipped onto her hands and redied her pokeball, "Here we go," she tossed the pokeball at the large fish.
once
twice
but the magicarp didn't stay. "Grrr.." she pulled a pokeball off her belt and sent out Isaac, her abra, "Hypnosis." a pink beam shot from Isaac to the magicarp. the fish's eyes faught to stay open but it was only delaying the envitable, it sleep soundly when Maya threw the pokeball again.
once
twice
PING!
"Yes!" she got back on her feet, her wholw party was full.
She then walked to the nearset tree, she pulled with all her might (and abra's might too) to pull of a board. She place the board in the water and sent out the three magicarp she caught, she gently woke up the big one, they all swam around in the water. Maya then grabbed some string out of her backpack and carfully tied it around the fish, she hopped onto the board and yelled, "Let's go!" the fish, at her comand, took off, she was water-skiing with magicarp. This method of traveling made some swimers give her some weird looks, she didn't care, she would get to Cinnabar before nightfall, plus it was so much fun!

Bowie finished setting up a large bowl of fresh milk for Rapidash to drink and sat down on a ledge that bordered the tracks. They had been traveling for hours, he wondered how the other racers where doing. Altough Bowie was glad that the Magnet trains were not operating right now, it was still pretty dark and deserted down here.

The Magnet train tunnel had been changed a little since the times of Gold/Silver. Apparently they had added a stop at the bottom of Victory road at some point over the years. When Bowie passed this area he knew that he had nearly reached Johto already. But this was the easy part, he still needed to find the hidden tunnel that connected to the Battle subway.

"Hopefully the other trainers get stuck in traffic or something. Alright time to get moving again!"
"Rocky Road good job, return now!" (Bowie called back Miltank and hopped onto Rapidash's back)
"Full steam ahead! Johto awaits!!" The light from Rapidash lights up the tunnel.

"Cinnabar, she breathed in the smoky smell," she ran to the pokemon center after recalling the magicarp, she put them in her storage except the large one which she named Mobey Dick. She looked out into the sky it was getting dark, she should probably go to sleep, she would need it.

The only sound in the tunnel came from Rapidash's hard hooves clanking against the metal tracks as she galloped on. Her flames provided plenty of lighting but Bowie was starting to get tired of seeing the same scenery over and over again. It was just train tracks, walls and the occasional light panel.

Then a loud and disembodied female voice rings out through the tunnel! "Next stop, Goldenrod city!" (bing, bong)
Bowie almost jumps straight off of Rapidash as he wildly looks around for the owner of the voice! He breathes a sigh of relief when he realizes that it must have come from an automatic sensor or something.
