EVERYONE: The Red Blue war

First I must admit this idea is not one hundred percent mine but about 80-90% mine. I read an article about this rumor/idea/fanfic/etc about there being a war right before the games Red and Blue. It was supported by saying that in the original Red and Blue the only males in the game(s) were elderly, children, or gym leaders. Not that interesting until you realize Lt.Surge mentions being in a war. And he isn't some old veteran. He is a reasonably young looking man who seems fresh from a fight. So essentially the article talked about Kanto just sent it's men out to war or something. I can't remember where i found the article or much else about it. But this intrigued me and sent me off imagining what kind of war Kanto went through when I remembered that the three musketeers pokemon (Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion) also refernce a war in there pokedex entries. ALthough I think their war was between humans and pokemon and the Red Blue war would probably be both Human and Pokemon together on both teams. But for a cool fanfic movie, it would be interesting to see Red's Dad and Blue's parents go off to war in Unova with Lt Surge and most likely be killed in some fight between them and Team Rocket, the obvious choice for the villains. Or perhaps Mewtwo escapes to Unova and Team Rocket rages a war to control Mewtwo and thus begin research into the pokeball that can catch any pokemon, the Master Ball. Then when they somehow temporarily subdue mewtwo and bring him back to Kanto He escapes again and is confronted by the elite four and is eventually defeated and left to live in the Cerulean cave. well, Comment or post your ideas. as you might have guessed I'm new to this.

But the Musketeer Trio went to war with humans ages before Red and Blue, or at least that's what I understood.

Good point. But it would still be interesting to see Red's dad and Blue's parents team up to defeat a super powerful mewtwo and an army of Team Rocket's poison type pokemon. Their once powerful military being reduced to the thugs they are in the games. Any other ideas?

You can try to write it if you want, but I don't see the potential in it, as it seems to be a set story.

I don't understand. What do you mean by set story? I'm still kind of new to this.

As in, there is no room for a lot of plot twists.

I see. But there is still room for discussion. i'm open to any ideas you or anyone else has about it.

There is a-plenty room for plot twists if you use Anime Physics.

And the Darkrai could make it all seem like a nightmare, a forgotten legend, so it wouldn't affect the future events in Red/Blue.

but how much plot twist do you need? Maybe team rocket starts off as the good guys and team plasma is the enemy until Team rocket gets too greedy and tries to capture mewtwo for themselves?

How is Team Plasma even related to this? How are they the bad guys if they "try" to separate humans and Pokémon, who are at war? How are they even in Kanto when they stated that they studied and learned from Team Rocket and Team Galactic?

Sounds like a good basis for a plot to me, just don't ruin it by trying to fit too many other people into the story. (eg. Team Plasma, Darkrai)

The whole theory sounds quite sensible. Perhaps you could write about Surge, Red's dad, Blue's dad and some others all fighting in a squadron together? Don't forget - the old guy in the Vermilion Gym says that Surge was his "strict CO" during the war!
