I like the idea someone posted in one of the pre-ninja Floatzel threads about one having a huge lake in the middle and the elite four are in the centre.
The whole region would be going around the lake. I really like it, perfect mix between land/sea IMHO.

What are your thoughts?

Since it could likely be the one west of Johto, access to Hoenn could be possible, allowing the chance to access good ol' Hoenn. I'd say the lake could work, though I'd like the ability to go to the Elite Four's base of operations before being able to challenge them, so they can be "oh sorry, you don't have enough badges, blah blah blah."

The Lake could be possible though, just not gigantic. We've had our fill of lakes with five in the last 2 games.

With the lake, so you mean something like this?

Just remember, the regions are based off Japan though

It'd be more like a sea if you know what I mean. Cause it'd be big. Maybe 8th gym town could be an island.
A couple of islands. 2/3 gym islands would be good.

Similar to that but more land.

I know that, hell, the regions been designed already that's just what I'd like out of it.

If this region were to be similar to Hoenn, then for the love of god, cut down on the water routes.

I call dibs on the Region being based of Shikoku

I wouldn't like that, too many water routes.

One or two's fine but not that many, I could see myself overdosing on Tenta-fucking-cruel if that were the case.

Water Routes have their place.

Why not make a route that can be crossed either on water, or on land? Like, have a bridge with craploads of trainers on it, but the alternative of going on the water to get past them all sooner?

I like the idea of Aomori a lot actually!
You could put my Elite 4 in your bay!!! (That could be twisted!)

If you like Aomori, why not just use the whole Tohuku region? The Sinjo (sp?) ruin would be there anyway so it makes sense.

If there's one thing the anime does right that the games don't, it's tech. What I want more than anything else is for the Gen. V region to be more teched out than past ones, with more than just the subtle background stuff like the box system - I want to see moving sidewalks (usable or not), more high-tech mass transit, and at least one big city like the one in the Deoxys movie. It could even be a main theme of the games: trying to find/restore a balance between nature and technology after people have built up too much tech.

That wouldn't leave much of Japan left for future generations, would it?

I don't like the idea of the whole of Tohoku.

I'd rather it just be Aomori. I'm loving that bay ATM.

I'd like that, but as long as they kept those water routes to a minimum. Gen III had too many, Gen IV didn't have enough (though any more with D/P's sluggish surfing would have driven me insane). They need at least 3 water routes... but we'd see how it goes.

They'll probably model the region after somewhere in central Japan, no?

There's always Korea and Taiwan, both of whom Japan used to own.

But World War II changed that. I don't think Nintendo would want to make a statement that those areas still belong to them... and most people in the West wouldn't get it since it's not really common knowledge over here that Japan had conquered Korea in 1905 or whenever.

Modern Japan class was last semester, details are foggy.

How the hell would that be anything even remotely resembling a "statement" of ownership? Countries don't have copyright over the shapes of their coastlines.

If they run out of room on Japan, they'll either branch out to neighboring areas, or start making stuff up. It's not like the Pokémon world is confirmed to be exactly shaped like Japan.

I can imagine people would probably start complaining that there's to much water, and it's to much water. What I would like to see is a region with a ocean to the west, with a few islands, then if they could implement scrolling region maps to include more, then heading towards the east there could be the mainland, with stretches from the east to the west into the ocean. It wouldn't be like Hoenn since the main land would be apart of a larger continent. I was thinking to the south area of the region a swamp-like jungle area with a few towns which would be more like settlements or tribe villages. Then along the coastline and near center more open plains, forests, then in the direct center of the mainland a desert area with a city in it. Towards the north there could be a transition into a colder climate sort of like the snow patches in Platinum. Then in the northernmost area there could be a combination of a snow and ice to sort of make a frozen desert with a mountain range mixed in. Next in the far east there could be a mountainous area along with a few underground paths. I was also thinking that in the north not only could there be a few cities but some research facilities, and then in the mountain area in the east there could be a few sparse forests, a few towns, long routes and a couple of rest stops to heal.

*Takes a breathe*

Then in the island area there could be a tropical theme among the islands and big block routes like Hoenn's oceans(Don't you like that idea? XD) and a few of the gyms could be here(3 or so) then a few side quests. Also this doesn't have to do with the island area but I feel that GF should implement some new environmental interactions, such as when crossing a river when you don't have surf, that you can hop across rocks, and say your in a jungle possibly use vines to swing across chasms, etc.

The region, I'm hoping, is Tohoku. It's got a good shape and a nice size. And if they run out of areas in Japan to use, well, there are other landmasses on this Earth.
