The Shiny Squirtle.. Will it be done?

So that means for every 8192 times I encounter a Pokemon, 1 will be Shiny.. or moreless, every 8192 times I hatch Squirtle Eggs, one of them will be Shiny.

Why has getting a Shinies been so popular? Really, I don't know. Back in the day, Shinies were just a little cool glitch where your Pokemon would be a different colour. Now it seems that shinies have created this cliche, where only people with shiny Pokemon can obtain the status of self-fulfillment.

Yet through much of my time playing Diamond(and it has been alot of time I assure you), i've found that most people with Shinies have cheated to get them or have gotten them from people who have cheated. And with that fact, I've grown this disdain for people who believe shinies are what makes the game. I do believe there are some who will cheat, scam, or simply try their hardest to get all 493 Pokemon Shiny. And I assure you, through legit means, it will never happen.

There are few people who have legit shinies... from which they have gained through their luck or their determination, as seen by Shinies through Chaining. To these people, I truly congratulate. As much as I hate to say this, even the Shiny UT Dialga I got through GTS is most likely a fake, seeing as it is a Legendary. Unless someone soft-setted the game around 8192 times, then the fact that it is legit is unlikely.

So why in the world do I want a Shiny Squirtle? Well it's my favorite pokemon, I'm on vacation right now, and I love the Diamond Version. My goal is to hatch one so that I can name it and such. What I will do with it is none of my concern yet. I'll be using this page to track my progress. In no means will I ever ask to get a Shiny Squirtle through trade.

Yes, i know that even if I do hatch 8192 Squirtle Eggs, it's still possible that none of them will be shiny, but like I said it's about having fun. I'd rather have 1 Legit Shiny Squirtle and no Pokemon in my Pokedex, than any unlegit shinies. And as much as people might say that they have a legit shiny, the only person who knows if that's the truth is the person who created it.

Wrong. It means that every time you encounter a Pokemon, the is a 1 in 8192 chance it'll be shiny. The number of Pokemon you've seen has nothing to do with it, it's random with each encounter.
 
The 1 in 8192 times is a theory of what's possible. It means you should see 1 shiny Pokemon in every 8192 encounters, but that's just a guess based on the hidden values of the game.

For example, I could flip a coin 100 times and get 50 heads and 50 tails, but that's improbable. So you really can't expect a shiny Pokemon 1 in 8192 times.
 
Yes, i am rather aware of that, but i'm one who likes to stick it in the face of probability. Perhaps I'll hatch one before 8192.

No you have misunderstood the way probability works, everytime you meet a pokémon there is a 1/8912 chance that it will be shiny. That means you could meet a million and never have it be shiny or encounter a shiny one on the first try. Many people don't seem to understand probability thats what often leads to people wasting their money away gambling.
 
Whoo, good luck with that.

I remember I tried to hatch a shiny Porygon on my Emerald once, so that I could send it over to Diamond (Diamond/Pearl weren't released at the time). I think I got just under 1000 eggs before I said "Forget this.". So hats off to you if you are able to get one, that much I can say!
 
Why not just softreset for it on FRLG (Unless you want egg moves)? I'd think that might be easier..

I remember when I tried to hatch a shiny Eevee. Gave up on the 150th egg, because I made the mistake of keeping them all in my boxes. Ugh, wasted box space.. @_@
 
Soft Resetting is saving in front of a set Pokemon, in this case, the Starters on FRLG...and continually pressing A, B, Select, and Start at the same time. (DS Soft Resetting is Select, Start, L, and R.)
 
Thanks. It sounds easier to do than hatch eggs... I'd do it although i'm currently on my 2nd playthrough of FR trying to get Entei

Unless I'm messing up my math, hatching 8192 eggs gives you about a 63.2% chance that at least one of them will be shiny. Good luck!

Haha. Well 150 down. Way too many to go.

(Yes, that's right. Hatched 150 eggs in a time-span of one day. Crazy? No. Insane? Yes.)
 
I hope you get the squirtle. I only have 1 shiny which is a swablu and it took me 42 chains to get it!
 
Thanks everyone. 190 Egged so far. Boy, that's just nuts. I'm trying to also help a friend get a certain Squirtle too(Female|Adamant). It would be pretty unfortunate if the shiny ends up being that!

i hatched a shiny squirtle about a year ago without even expecting it and i havent gotten a shiny from breeding ever since and now im tryig to hatch a different shiny but i havent had any luck :/
