Well, since the old one hasn't been posted in for nearly a year, I have decided to restart the debate. On Sunday night (US time, Monday morning here), a character will die on The Simpsons. On Simpsons Wiki, there is a lot of votes for Krusty the Clown to die, as well as a lot of bets on his father to die. Place your bets on now on who you think will die.

I think that Helen Lovejoy should die next, so we can think of the children.

I'm aware that's a joke and all, but it won't be Helen Lovejoy. It has to be a character whose voice actor has won an Emmy for their work on the show.

I'm having a hard time believing that The Simpsons would actually kill off Krusty. I mean, he is one of the show's longest-standing characters (he's been around since the Tracey Ullman shorts, for pete's sake) and they even considered giving him his own spin-off show at one point.

I am leaning towards Krusty or his father to die. But it could be anyone, except for Comic Book Guy as in a promotion for the episode, he is live-tweeting the funeral of the character who dies.

It would be funny if a blackout occurs, and when power is back on, it's the end of the episode and Krusty would say that they would never let them show the episode again and laughs (I got that idea from Homer Goes to College).

When looking at the possible candidates, I felt that the most predictable outcome is the Rabbi, since this character seems like an irregular that makes it an obvious candidate. I have a feeling that it's a decoy from the actual target, but chances are, it will be him.

Thanks for reading.

Sideshow Mel anyone? No? Ok.

So him is my biggest guess to be honest.

Apu sounds realistic actually.

I'd say barney because of alcohol abuse. But i think we all know that wouldnt happen :-:

Hmm interesting, I hadn't heard about this. Hmm..urh I dunno, one of Homer's friends, Lenny, Karl or Barney maybe. Must be someone who doesn't have a great deal of fans. Sideshow Bob, Kent Brockman..someone lesser liked.

Of course it might just be a big wind up like when Family Guy 'killed' off Brian last series. Might be an experiment to see the backlash :b

Who are you calling "lesser liked"? Bob's my favourite Simpsons character by several miles, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on that point. :p

(And no, definitely not Kent Brockman. Harry Shearer is not one of the show's Emmy-winners).

I bloody love Bob - he's the show's smartest, most sophisticated character, and he has the courage to champion highbrow values in a town where lowbrows hold the power. Not to mention that Kelsey Grammer always does such a wonderful job voicing him.

Whenever I realise it's a Sideshow Bob episode, I die a little inside. He was ok at first but other than occasssionaly being hit in the face with rakes, he's not great comedy value imo.

You're just making it worse for yourself

I disagree entirely, but clearly we're drawn to The Simpsons for different reasons. Personally I don't much go for the physical/slapstick humor.

Not sure about you guys, but I'm putting my money down on Grandpa dying. (Or Sideshow Bob. Either one.)

Unfortunately, this works. I long for the days when shows could tell stories and have people invested instead of pulling stunts like killing off characters for views. Sad to see The Simpsons stooping to Family Guy levels.

I just hope whichever character they kill off is killed off with some sort of dignity. If I had to guess which character would get the axe, probably Sideshow Bob or Barney. I don't know why, those two stick out to me for some reason.

But he is one of the top tier characters and Kelsey Grammer always does an amazing job. I miss the old Reverend Lovejoy and the Vietnam flashbacks for Skinner. But the tone of the Simpsons has changed drastically and it is a shame that so many characters were impacted by it.

Actually, Al Jean said that the actor who voice the soon-to-be deceased character has won an Emmy, and all the core cast members have won an Emmy (Harry Shearer won an Emmy this year several months after the plot was announced). I am leaning towards Krusty or his father though, although for me Barney is an outsider. And I hope it is not Sideshow Bob as he is one of my favourites. I don't know when the episode will air in Australia though, as I am hoping Channel Ten would fast-track the episode.

And is anyone watching the crossover episodes with Family Guy on Tuesday night (8:30pm on 7Mate for those who are interested)?
