A few months ago I came here for advice on a Doubles Trick Room team and as I prepare to enter a tournament I'm looking to make changes. Like, getting rid of one of my Trick Room users, as I was warned by a friend that having too many Trick Room users can be risky I think? So yeah, give me suggestions for new team members for a Trick Room team and maybe help me improve other team members?

~Bulk Up

  • My fast pokemon in case I can't get Trick Room up
  • That's it?

So yeah that's my team, let me know how I can make it better~

If I were you I'd make Talonflame Adamant instead of Jolly. He is fast anyway and he has priority to boot. I'd go for the little bit of extra power. Also I'm not sure but I think there is a rule against naming a pokemon after another pokemon eg: Gengar the Dusclops

I was really hoping more for suggestions on pokemon that could replace Dusclops, but hey, I'll see if I can do some more Talonflame breeding

Cofagrigus pretty much straight-up outclasses Dusclops in singles, not too sure if he'd be better in doubles though. :)

Hmm, 58/50/145/95/105/30 compared to Dusclops' 0/70/130/60/130/25. Not as Specially Defensive, but with a lot more SpAtk, and a little more HP. and hey, he can learn Trick Room AND Nasty Plot~
I guess I'll be going with Cofagrigus. Now I just need a build.

My singles Cofa is

Cofgrigus @ Leftovers
Mummy
Calm
252 HP/4 Sp Atk/4 Sp Def
~Will-O-Wisp
~Infestation
~Hex
~Pain Split

For a quick mod to a doubles TR team, I'd use

Cofgrigus @ Leftovers
Mummy
Sassy
252 HP/4 Sp Atk/4 Sp Def
~Will-O-Wisp
~Trick Room
~Hex
~Protect

but you might want to get a more experienced Doubles player's opinion on that.

Well, you could (if your willing to replace one of your other 'mons) use a Carbink/Cofagrigus and Aegislash pair with these sets (though this combo could still function if you used Talonflame insted of Aegislash):

Carbink @???
Sturdy
4 HP/252 Def./Sp. Def.
Explosion
Stalling/Recovery move
Trick room
Guard split

Or this Cofagrigus

Cofagrigus @???
Mummy (obviously)
Sassy nature with EVs the same as the above Shuckle
Hex
Will-O-wisp
Trick room
Guard split

and finally, the Aegislash:

Aegislash @ Lum berry/Leftovers
Stance change (obviously)
EVs: 4 Speed/252 HP/252 Atk. or Sp. Atk. (depending on which moves you use)
Shadow sneak
Iron head/Flash cannon
Sacred sword/Shadow ball/Rock slide/HP Water
King's sheild

The idea of this pair is to, for example, have Carbink use TR while Aegislash uses King's sheild. Then on turn two Aegislash uses Shadow sneak while Carbink uses Guard split on Aegislash, making it's Blade forme have high Defence stats while still able to do the serious damage that makes Aegislash devestating (though, as I mentioned, if you don't want to use Aegislash you can still use Talonflame).

It sounds like a good idea, but hey who should I also get rid of alongside Dusclops if I go with the Aegislash/Carbink plan?

I would replace... (20 minutes of thought later...) either M. Abomasnow or Talonflame because, while Talonflame does have Gale wings, fast 'mons don't tend to do well on a TR team or Abomasnow because Aegislash is simply better than M. Abomasnow (I know you'll then have no Mega but they are not nessesary to build a team). But, as I mentioned, you can still do this except with Talonflame insted of Aegislash. Example: Survive opponent's attack, Carbink's partner used U-turn/Volt switch to switch to TFlame, Carbink used Guart split (Trick room optional).
