This is the Atlas Topic for The Story of Fritz Westmyn.

The fanfic has been in the works since 2009, and has a large scope to it. Chapters have little things embedded in them you might not notice, characters have all sorts of layers, things aren't necessarily as you'd expect from looking at other canons, and so on. There's a lot to keep track of. This Atlas Topic is your go-to guide for the everything in the story. Although right now, it only contains one thing and. But it will be expanded in the future.

Students of Rukh's University:
Frisco "Fritz" Westmyn: UPDATED!
Pokemon on Hand - Nidorina, Tangela, Mareep, Eevee, Huntail, Vespiquen
Reserves - Five others

The protagonist, titular character, and narrator. Although a new student at the growing Rukh's University, one of many facilities that typically house older newcomers to Pokemon, he already has shown to have a competent level of experience. He said that he's been practicing on and off with them since he was five years old. Currently nineteen as of January.

Fritz is disliked by most of the faculty due to his being from Mexico, the most prominent example being Aiden Kripps - VP of Rukh's. Fortunately, the principal of the University likes and respects him, and refuses to kick him out. He's treated varyingly by his peers. The general rule seems to be the longer they've been at the school, the less they like him, but most seem to show him respect.

Thatcher Li: UPDATED!
Pokemon - Sandshrew, Eevee, Taillow, ???

A student at Rukh's University and friend of Fritz Westmyn. His goal in life is to be a Pokemon Coordinator, though his total lack of charm, charisma, and confidence are major deterants to his dream. Regardless, he certainly has their style of dress down. Besides his clothing with fanciful Pokemon designs, he often wears a black and primarily teal jacket - which he has a habit of recoiling into when frightened. He idolizes Maribel Capdevila, due to how she was able to follow her dream and become a coordinator.

Thatcher and Reika were apparently childhood friends, but the extent of this is unclear at this point. Both also have a history with one Josef Northrop, who appears to have bullied them. Thatcher holds a strong admiration towards Fritz that is only matched by his admiration towards Maribel, a stark contrast to their female friend.

Reika Easton: UPDATED!
Pokemon - Wigglytuff, Eevee, Marill, One Other

A student at Rukh's University. Her meeting with Fritz is incidental, although the two become friends.in short order. A chubby girl (described as Fritz as "not fat or curvy"), her spiteful and impulsively temperamental personality can be a bit of a load to bear at times. Even Fritz is no exception, although she eventually made it clear she truly appreciates his friendship. Reika's birthday is April 16th, and she is presently eighteen.

Fritz recognized her last name, although he didn't say from where specifically. Josef's nickname for her (Freak-Eye) comes from her hazel-colored eyes with a green luster in the light. She broke her right leg after a nasty fall during confrontation against The Beast of Abet. Though she's gotten used to it as of late, it still is a problem when it comes to stairs or long distances.

Cronus Aporon: UPDATED!
Pokemon - Cradily, Gyarados, Skuntank, Three Others

A fourth-year student at Rukh's University (his final year). Described as its "crown jewel" by the staff, he is by far the best battler in the school. Despite being a bit of a jerk at times, he is loved and well-respected by his peers. He normally has a jock-like yet understanding personality, sort of the role model and older-brother-to-all type, but he does have a temper inside him (occasionally a really nasty one). Although his core group of friends stick up for him in less-than-desirable ways, he rarely speaks out against them. By contrast, he is against other wrongdoings.

He often wears a jacket sporting the school's insignia (a stylized bird) and colors (red and silver). Aporon is around 5'7'' and has kempt brown hair, sideburns, and tiny beard.

David:
Pokemon - Poliwrath, Others?

One of Aporon's circle of friends. David is a third-year student and a self-superior preppy type in both dress and personality. Like his partners in crime, he was personally tutored by Cronus Aporon. However, Biology and sticking out don't seem to be his strong suits. Fritz can hardly remember the guy's name.

He does not like to eat processed foods.

Edgar:
Pokemon - Primeape, Others?

One of Aporon's circle of friends. Edgar is also a third-year student. He dresses casually in whit shirts and blue jeans, and is a bit of a fratboy. He is dyslexic, large, and VERY temperamental. Although when push comes to shove, his recklessness usually screws him over. He's very easy to egg on, and as such defends Aporon more than the others.

In-battle, he seems to have a very power-based style, although does balance it out with tricks.

Lawrence: UPDATED!
Pokemon - Venusaur, Others?

The last of Aporon's circle of friends. A lecherous nerd who, much like Fritz, was a first-year student transfered to the Tactics class due to his talent. Presently a second-year. He's quite short, has bad acne, and has thick glasses. Ironically, he may or may not be closeted, despite his womanizing nature. He's a very hard person to get a read on.

He seems to be the most disjointed of Aporon's group, but gets along with them quite well.

Muriel Palmoni:
Pokemon - Hariyama, Others?

Another fourth-year student at Rukh's University. Fritz saw her Hariyama battling an Ursaring when he was transferred to the Tactics class, where it threw its weight around to earn a victory by opponent submission. While a talented battler as a result, her harsh style and nasty attitude has garnered her a negative reputation. Even her sister can't deny it, though doesn't judge her for it. The second-best battler at Rukh's after Aporon, and on his bad side.

Muriel is quite tall, has black hair styled into a bobcut with white streaks, and cold, verdant eyes. She often dresses like a punk or a goth.

Phoebe Palmoni: UPDATED!
Pokemon - Floatzel, Others?

Muriel's sister, and Aporon's second choice for mentorship during the tournament (solely as a slight to his rival). Although their treatment of Fritz is more a receipt for his disrespect, they treat Phoebe even worse and with seemingly geniune contempt.

Phoebe is around 5'1'', has a different dress to, and a much kinder disposition than her sister, but the resemblance is clear enough. Though implied the siblings have a good relationship (at least from Phoebe's end), their similarities end with appearances. Phoebe is kinder and more caring than her sister, but is less tenacious and self-reliant. Not necessarily a pessimist, but if not that, certainly a realist.

Elyna Dragomir:
Pokemon - ???

A cold-hearted transfer-student and associate of Cronus Aporon, and apparently the best battler of the third-year students (despite not battling much). Nicknamed "The Ice Princess" for both her ruthless nature and choice of Pokemon, she was trained by the late Lorelei of the Kanto Elite Four on the Orange Islands. Some say she has the potential to be as masterful at the Ice type as her mentor. Many students fear her.

She is a cameo character, played by AiedailEclipsed.

Liane Weiks:
Pokemon - ???

A trendy blonde-haired girl with sapphire-hued eyes and shoulder-length bangs, she is an aspiring coordinator. A fan of Augustus Gabriel. While usually passive and polite, she has a short-temper towards some, acting with self-superiority and constant criticism.

Formerly Reika's roommate, by virtue of the room number (168) being her lucky number. After disagreements between them, she put a plot in motion for the theft of an expensive collector's bust in their room. Fritz managed to prove his friend taking it as impossible; Liane left in disappointment with Cinque, and returned spouting a refined rant, indirectly revealing her plan and how it backfired when someone really stole it. Sometime after that, she just got a room change.

Carlie:
Pokemon - ???

A first-year student. Girlfriend of Andrew. Tomboyish in dress and demeanor, but quite quiet otherwise. May not get out in the sun very much.

Irene Faris: UPDATED!
Pokemon - Lapras, ???

A first-year student who is a friend of Carlie and Andew, as well as Liane Weiks. With light blonde hair cut short and aqua blue eyes, she often dresses in revealing attire. Irene is quite nasty towards those she dislikes, but feels a little more normal when not in one of their presence.

Born in the Orange Islands, Irene is the cousin of coordinator Celeste Faris, and holds great respect for Elyna Dragomir. The latter coached her to her defeat Ina (being aided by Fritz) in a battle, brought on by the ditzy girl defending her former friend. Was also part of the group accusing Reika of the theft of the bust, where she repeatedly referred to her as a "fat broad". May stem from Reika believing her mother (on the staff) to be promiscuous, a fact that isn't necessarily untrue.

Andrew:
Pokemon - ???

A first-year student. Boyfriend of Carlie. This ginger dresses in pure white in contrast to Carlie's darker colors. Seems to be more of a follower, and may be slightly fearful of Fritz.

Cinque:
Pokemon - ???

One of Liane's friends; a taller girl with no fashion sense and a grating rural accent. A little slow in the head...

Ina Nanaba:
Pokemon - Bellossom (Reedy), Glaceon (Snowy)

A ditzy, enthusiastic, bubbly girl who is generally pleasant to people. A former friend of Reika Easton's, although the details of their falling out - let alone how they could've been friends at any point - are uncertain. Ina doesn't seem to harbor any resentment, but the same can't be said about Reika. Tends to use a lot of cutesy terms and gives similar nicknames to people; also giving the latter to her Pokemon.

She is surprisingly resourceful in battle for a relative beginner. She frequently teaches her Pokemon TMs and knows/understands a few advanced techniques. However, she isn't aware of some intricacies or basic concepts, leading to a few awkward moments.

Teiko:
Pokemon - ???

Teikō's girlfriend. Fritz met both in Sciences early before school reopened; they apparently went home while the school was closed and just made it back in time. Seems to be level-headed.

Teikō:
Pokemon - ???

Teiko's boyfriend. The more excitable of the two. Fritz finds the fact that they're a couple with similar names quite amusing.

Premala Amani Yuhawlah: NEW!
Pokemon - ???

A mysterious girl who is the head of Rukh's Activism Club...and maybe more. A second year student, she is one of the school's most beautiful (if eccentric) individuals - physical and psychological traits both considered. She has some form of mental abilities, of which speaking into the mind appears to be one. Dresses in a two-piece violet robe, has green eyes, and oddly, dyes her hair green as well.

Premala has a romantic interest in Fritz (who she always addresses by Frisco), making absolutely no attempt to conceal it, but he is unsure about her motivations. May have some level of pull at the school, but seems unassociated with the principal or vice principal.

Faculty of Rukh's University:
Dean Howard Finkerton:
A greedy, yet reasonable and intelligent businessman and Principal of the University. He prefers long-term fiscal planning to cheap cash grabs. Dean Howard is a fairly straightforward man. He only judges people by two things: their money, and how they use it. Besides that, he's non-judgmental, as shown by how he doesn't care for Fritz' nationality. Fritz ironically considers him one of the few people he can trust for this reason.

Finkerton has been working hard to expand Rukh's University for the three years he's been in power. Despite questionable ethics, he's made the place huge. Perhaps mercifully for the student populace he views as nothing more than a source of income, benefiting them often benefits him as well.

Aiden Kripps:
The vice principal at Rukh's University. A man with a chiseled frame, but (described by Fritz) a caricature of a face. He seems to have a distaste for Dean Finkerton, although ironically can be identically nasty. Fritz first met him when he was being transferred to Tactics class.

Kripps is among the biggest xenophobes on the staff, and is Fritz' main detractor. He attempted to accuse Fritz of starting the fire that burned down the Rangerism/Breeding stables, but failed when a second opinion thought otherwise. Nevertheless, he vowed to do whatever it takes - including going over his superior's head - to get Fritz out of his school.

Dr. Spfogckdl:
The teacher of the Sciences class at Rukh's, which is primarily a Biology class. Of German decent, his odd name is VERY roughly pronounced Sphogkettle. But a curse on you if you actually pronounce it that way. He looks like a fun guy to be around - almost sporting a mad scientist look - but is quite dull aside from a few eccentricies. Usually seen wearing his faded, dusty (once)-yellow lab coat.

Mr. Yamaguchi:
An old-school Japanese man, the Socials Teacher of Rukh's University, and one of Fritz' detractors on the staff. 66 years old, he looks at least 106 by Fritz' opinion. Revolting to look at, although his traditional attire mercifully covers most of his boney body.

Mr. Yamaguchi may not agree with some of the choices his coworkers make, though many of the students disagreed with his assigning a missed week's work or assignments. He chose to blame it on Fritz' failing to stop the fire. At least seems willing to teach him, as long as he's willing to learn.

Ms. Odell:
The Arts teacher at Rukh's. She was recently hired, being as new to the school as the students she teaches. She's ditzy, she doesn't dress appropriately (in Reika's eyes, at least), and is a little flirty.

She tried to use the lattermost to charm boys into teaching Art class for her, though they were more disturbed than anything else. Oddly, didn't think to ask Fritz, Teikō, or a girl.

Mr. Wu:
The Batttling teacher at Rukh's. A calm elderly man who's good at taking charge and keeping control.

Mr. Baiaz:
The Tactics Teacher at Rukh's. Not much more is known at this point.

Wendell Worus IV:
The school's Rangerism teacher, and a good friend of Mr. Zygon. Far better prepared than him for his stables being burned to the ground by an unknown individual.

Mr. Zygon:
The Breeding teacher. Wished for the school to remain closed a while, though Dean Finkerton was having none of it.

Mr. Perry Wippleman:
A tall and lanky man whose manners of speech tend to be really roundabout. In charge of student relations at Rukh's University, specifically for first-year students. Possibly in an affair with a fellow staff member.

Mr. Squibb:
In charge of course management. He was there to transfer Fritz to Tactics Class. He still remains around the school during weekends, and thus was recruited by Liane to aid in her plot to get Reika thrown out.

Mrs. Shugiri:
A long-time employee of Rukh's University, Mrs. Shugiri is the librarian and disciplinarian of the school. One of those strict-types in a hairbun, she is all-business in how she handles her career. She tends to look at the facts a lot, and does her research. She can be quite harsh and unforgiving, but as long as you don't break the rules, you're fine in her books.

Has a belief that rules and the law are absolute. She understood the predicament Reika and Thatcher were in, but remained stoic in punishing them for heading to Abet's Bluff.

The Traveling Hobos:
Mr. Gruff: UPDATED!
A kind-hearted, blustery man who, true to his moniker, has an untamed brown hairstyle and beard. Stylish in dress and demeanor even by the average man's standards, he is rarely seen without his trademark Gatsby Cap. He is very eccentric, but has a strong moral base.

He aided Fritz, Reika, and Thatcher when they were left without a place to rest for Rukh's weeklong closure, and also helped find Thatcher when he ran away. He's second only to the elder hobo in respect his fellows give.

Biggie:
The strong and silent type, and likely one of the more well-respected of the travelling hobos. A firm believer that actions speak louder than words, although his rare words are enough to get people to listen regardless.

Gumbo:
A habitual chewer of gum. In his own words, unless he is eating or sleeping, he can't help but chew gum. Disgustingly enough, continues to chew as he speaks.

People of Japan:
Josef Northrop:
Pokemon - Sceptile, Others?

Childhood bully of Reika and especially Thatcher. The large and imposing Josef is, like many youth in Japan, a trainer on a journey. He finds the prospect of their going to a Pokemon school amusing. Didn't seem to give Cronus Aporon much favor either, entering a small game of one-upsmanship with him when the two of them and Ina battled Fritz, Reika, and Thatcher.

He's quick-witted, sharp-tongued, and a little flamboyant - taking on a very joking tone with his many insults (many of which come in rhyme). He tends to back off when people verbally fight back, though. Oddly modest and down-to-earth at moments, referring to himself as a "humble success story".

Burt Garfunkel:
Pokemon - Poochyena

Moldeau Town's Chief of Police. Fritz met him two days after the fire to give his account as sole witness to the events. Described by Fritz as "the archetype of a good cop," there is no one he doesn't give respect to.

Coordinators of Japan
Maribel Capdevila NEW!
Pokemon: Absol, Mawile, Sealeo, Wormadam-P, at least two others

Thatcher's idol. Born in Petalburg City, she followed her dream to become a highly talented coordinator. One of Japan's biggest celebrities, even though she has never gotten near the top. She seems to have a talent for making fanciful outfits for her appearances, or at least knows someone who does. Has a fierce rivalry with Augustus Gabriel.

Augustus Gabriel NEW!
Pokemon: Luxray, Bronzong, Wartortle, at least three others

Hailing from Floaroma in Sinnoh, Augustus Gabriel is a fourth-generation coordinator, much like his father, his grandmother, and great-grandfather. He always knows how to ellict a response from a crowd, be it a positive or negative one. He takes all of it with stride in the end. Shares an intense rivalry with Maribel Capdevila.

Ward Whalz NEW!
Pokemon: ???

Second-generation pupil of Juan de Maréaux. Tutored by one of his students (Wallace), Ward Whalz followed in their footsteps as being a former Gym Leader of Sootopolis City, a Top Coordinator, and Water Pokemon master. And just like them, Whalz has his own thing that makes him distinct: a line of health-care and grooming products for Pokemon.

Oddly, though coordinators usually dabble in the elegant, Ward Whalz is anything but. He's a rather large individual who's more to-the-point, but looks can be deceiving.

This is a list of all the behind-the-scenes workings and chapter details. The Story of Fritz Westmyn is FULL of little details and ironies in each chapter, and there's also a few things to comment on as well. A reference key...

DETAIL: Neat little things you might not have noticed.
QUIP: Witty pieces of irony or amusement in dialogue.
PLANNING: Notes on the planning and worldcrafting.
REFERENCE: References to whatever.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: Things that were made, but never used.
NOTES: Stylistic notes or things that happened during writing.

Part 1-1
Scene 1:

REFERENCE: The Man Called Bansi = The Man Called Sting. This also implies a Ghost trainer by his name, since it's close to banshee.
DETAIL: Use of the 24 hour clock format is just one of the many touches I gave to make the world more animate. It's used in the real Japan as well.
PLANNING: The Eevee was just something that was attributed to the RP this originated in, Knight Pokemon University. I was split on whether to get rid of it or keep it in. Eevee had a unique personality and a few moments I'd already worked in later though, and it made more sense to exist in case of students who were literally getting started, so I kept it.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: The three bullies actually were given names, although they weren't planned for 1-9, so they weren't actually going to be revealed. Similarly, the woman on-stage and Irene's mother is Mrs. Audrey Faris.
DETAIL: Fritz had the same first impression about Irene (the girl in the tank top) as Reika did about her mom.
PLANNING: I played around with various versions of the scene where Fritz meets Reika. I settled on this, as less is more felt the best. The whole Isshu/Unova thing in 1-5. was here at one point.
DETAIL: The staff apparently don't like Fritz, as revealed by 1-3. Looking back at this part, the man at the desk acting a little odd compared to how he acted with Reika suddenly makes a lot more sense. And by that same token, Fritz being given a very battle-inept Eevee is another eyebrow raiser, and representative of that theme as well.
REFERENCE: The guy who gives Fritz and Reika their Eevees is based on Dmitri Belyaev, the guy who domesticated the Silver Fox.

Scene 2:
QUIP: "A path not a lot of people have chosen to walk, it appears." - An interesting statement, don't you think?
NOTES: I tried to write the first battle so Fritz looks like he's sort of stumbling through. Which he kind of was anyway. The point was to make his unexpectedly being very talented already in 1-2 more of a surprise.
PLANNING: I always intended even as far back as the RP to make the Lake Pokemon's identity concealed for a while.
REFERENCE: The beeping tone for a bell is another one of those real-life references. My first few years in school had a bell that sounded like...well, a bell. Then I moved, and from there on out, all I got were beeping tones.

Scene 3:
DETAIL: Of course, Fritz didn't count all those desks by hand. He used multiplication.
NOTES: Sciences was called Biology in the original plan. The change was actually a typo that I worked in, just because.
DETAIL: Thatcher's outfit on this day is based on Bug Pokemon. Stylised cicada = Nincada, Caterpillars = Wurmple and Caterpie. The same applies for his other outfits.
REFERENCE: Dratini and Gyarados being two possible identities for the lake Pokemon is another reference to KPU - where a student and teacher thought the same things, respectively.
DETAIL: Aporon's reputation must precede him if Reika and Thatcher both knew about him before coming to Rukh's University.

Part 1-2
Scene 1:

DETAIL: There's really subtle foreshadowing in how Fritz, Reika, and Thatcher sit by themselves.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: Fritz was originally going to get whiteout that he left in his dorm, but I changed this when I made a map of the place, and ended up putting the dorms and lake on opposite ends.
REFERENCE: Fritz tries to lure out the lake Pokemon by throwing rocks over the lake. In the RP, it appeared when he was doing just that (aiming practice with his Houndour)
NOTES: In the original story, Fritz fought the lake Pokemon with Tangela. Here he fights it with a Mareep.
DETAIL: There's also a bit of more obvious foreshadowing: Fritz asking Mareep to see what it can do pretty much reveals that he recently obtained it, before outright saying so in 1-4.
PLANNING: Having the lake Pokemon move over to shallow waters was part of crafting the logical nature of the world. The boomeranging never made sense to me.

Scene 2:
PLANNING: The bad/spoiled food thing was recycled from an earlier version of the script. I re-added it to give more conversation points, and for an amusing excuse in 1-3 as to why Fritz might not have been able to go to the washroom (since they'd be all tied up with sick people).
NOTES: I actually made myself hungry when writing the description of the sandwich, and had to stop partway to eat myself.
DETAIL: "How can you even make art with a Pokémon?" - Fritz doesn't know about Smeargle.
REFERENCE: Thatcher uses all five contest types in his description of a Coordinator. For the record, contests are closer to the Anime style in this in practice, although as always, it's blended together.
PLANNING: The conversation Fritz, Reika, and Thatcher had went through a number of iterations. A few of these included Reika and Thatcher talking about their dreams, them talking a bit about their past at Fritz' request, them just catching up, etc. I chose to shuffle it all around and just keep in Thatcher's bit about Coordinating, however.
DETAIL: A fairly obvious one, but it's really easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Reika and Thatcher aren't used to exerting themselves, whereas Fritz is. HMMM...
PLANNING: Tied into the above two, a specific reason for Thatcher's lack of stamina was given, but had to be removed once that detail was removed from that scene as well.

Scene 3:
DETAIL: Fritz also is way calmer than his friends. Whereas they freak the hell out over a Gyarados, he basically just doesn't care. HMMM...
NOTES: The Gyarados scene was the first one that I completed. Gyarados and Cradily were in turn made the first two Pokemon I wrote a description for. I really got to play around in a fun way with them.
DETAIL: When describing the Gyarados, Fritz mentions it might "only yield to hard bludgeoning". He uses such a strategy when he battles it; specifically Tangela repeatedly using Double-Edge on it
DETAIL: Yes, I do know the rings on its face aren't actually Cradily's eyes. Fritz doesn't, though. It's just another detail of his character and the narration style. Following a similar logic, since its lower half is below the surface, you don't get a description of that until it's knocked out of the water.
NOTES: The first really-obvious almost-present-tensing is seen here when Fritz has no idea what Cradily is supposed to be.
REFERENCE: If Gyarados was aiming for Cradily's head with Hyper Beam, missed by 20 feet when it ducked, and we assume Cradily is its height of five feet as in the games, it would make a 14.04 degree angle. Although sizes, of course vary (esp. because your Pokedex-sized one would barely be the size of a two-storey house), a Gyarados who has, for instance, around 15 feet of its body out of the water would be around 40 feet away. This was all a sanity check.
PLANNING: "Cronus was beatened?!" was originally a typo. I kept it though, because it fit the panic better.
NOTES: It was hard to write the exchange after Aporon captures the Gyarados. There was going to be more after the "fish food" comment, but I decided to end it there.
NOTES: I never decided whether Aporon really does believe Fritz and Reika are a couple, or if he was just saying it to try and piss him off.

Part 1-3
Scene 1:

QUIP: "Or no one else making an enemy at the school on day one." - Forgetting Reika already, Fritz?
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: I actually wrote out the first little bit of Dean Howard and Mr. Miedere's conversation, just to get things going. This can be scene in the extra exchanges. (not up yet)
PLANNING: I was going to reveal the reason for Fritz being disliked by the teachers in full right here, but I decided to play it down for a while, hinting at it and introducing it later at the part's end.
PLANNING: Fritz was originally conceived with short hair. I changed it to long hair in-planning after I realized that given something in the narrative, it didn't make sense.
QUIP: Although Dean Howard does cite a few questionable methods for attracting students, he also says high cost does not equal superior product, brings up inefficiency, and mentions expanding the school. Really, his interests coincide with what's debatably the best.

Scene 2:
PLANNING: Basically this scene was just written as a quick transition. I actually was going to have Fritz find his friends here, but it made more sense from a logical standpoint for him to be unable to.

Scene 3:
NOTES: I decided to have Reika describe Ms. Odell, for no reason other than a change of pace.
DETAIL: Fritz implied that he comes from a warm climate when he told Thatcher that he didn't know what hot is. Meanwhile, Reika implied angered jealousy.
DETAIL: Since Ms. Odell skipped to the left side of the table, and Fritz is on Thatcher's right, she must be standing beside the latter. Which is why Fritz and Reika reacted as they did to the "bounce".
PLANNING: Ms. Odell's flirtiness was originally a little more clear.

Scene 4:
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: There was a dropped scene in Part 1-1 where Fritz explains to a random person just what Mr. Wippleman meant when explaining the Eevee. I moved it to here to fill space out.
NOTES: This is where it's made fairly clear that the differences between Pokemon aren't necessarily psychological.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: Just a note: Fritz' estimate on Eeveelutions isn't necessarily wrong in my fanfic. Amusingly enough, I overestimated just to cover all hypothetical bases, and then Sylveon came along. Piece of shit that it is.
DETAIL: Reika's reply to what she'll evolve her Eevee into implies she already has a Grass-type and a Water-type.

Scene 5:
PLANNING: The description Fritz gives is mostly the reason why I drew up a map of the grounds. I didn't make a similar one for the city. I tried to, but then figured it was pointless.
DETAIL: Fritz didn't want to think about the teachers disliking him, for obvious reasons. His not thinking much of Reika is more questionable. It's almost as if he's slightly evasive throughout this scene.
DETAIL: It seems that Fritz didn't come prepared for a circumstance like this one.

Part 1-4
Scene 1:

NOTES: Part of the point of this chapter was to give readers a good read on Fritz' personality.
DETAIL: We really don't get a chance to see Mr. Wu much, but from his mood, he's sad to see Fritz go.

Scene 2:
PLANNING: Originally Fritz described the Tactics class specifically as a high school gymnasium.
PLANNING: "The other trainer stood with agitation, almost desperation." was a line recycled from the second draft of the story.
NOTES: I decided to put the first battle in to pad the chapter out, and as a way to introduce Muriel before she is brought up proper. Her opponent, on the other hand, was a throwaway character whose features were literally determined by random.org. Seriously.

Scene 3:
REFERENCE: Hariyama used a big step, often used by larger professional wrestlers.
DETAIL: Given this and the later scene, it seems Mr. Baiaz is very punctual with when his class begins and ends. And not very good at introductions and goodbyes.
NOTES: Just like 1-2, I made something of a typo instead of correcting it. In this case, I gave Edgar dyslexia. "Talking you to" and "comsequences/nessing" were not unintended! Considering his random "consider that one a freebie, kid", he may also not know what a few phrases actually are.
NOTES: Live and die by logic. With no magical rock materialization in my world, I changed up the effects of Secret Power to be adaptable, in this instance summoning rocks for Primeape to use.
BEHIND-THE-SCENES: The battle changed a bit when I changed Fritz' Nidorino to a Nidorina. Namely, it uses Double Kick after the jumping kick instead of Fury Attack. Everything else remained the same...

Scene 4:
NOTES: ...except after the battle, where I used the chance to give her a little more personality. In the end, I liked the change.
DETAIL: Thatcher's admiration of Fritz truly begins at this point. You can also see the differences between him and Reika: he implicitly waits for Fritz to arrive before he eats, while Reika digs in right away.
DETAIL: If you were to look at the map of the school (not up yet), you'll know the "cool break room" was made up. Instead, there's a study room and a practice area.
DETAIL: It's made clear here that Fritz' reactions to Aporon and co. doesn't necessarily represent his actual personality.
