Hello everyone.
I hope I'm not too late to enter the fanfiction competition.
I'm not sure if I must just post a link or put the whole story up.
I'm also not sure if i can submit something that isn't finished yet.
But I'm going to try anyway.
Here is the link: link removed- no external fics allowed, has to be posted here. ~ Aladar

And in case I have to post the story here I'll put up the first chapter.
Hope you like it.

Squirtle bounded up to the old lady and tugged on her skirt.

"What's wrong, Squirtle?" she asked.

Squirtle pointed frantically towards the baby's room.

"Oh, no, not again." The lady said, half amused. She made her way to the room and opened the door. The 8-month-old baby was on her hands and knees crawling around. She managed to get to a wall and pull herself up. She smiled at the old lady.

"Wild, what are you doing?" she said, picking the baby up in her arms. "Did you fall out of you crib again?"

Wild Child just gurgled and smiled. The old woman stroked the fuzz on her head. "You need to stop trying to walk around" she said earnestly. "You're going to get yourself in a lot of trouble. Now, shall we sit down and read a book?"

Wild Child's green eyes sparkled.

By the time she turned one she was running around all over the place. Thankfully, she was showing early signs of sensibility. She hardly ever cried, she never got in the way, and she was clever too. When Narg was cooking dinner she would climb onto the couch and watch with her eyes just above the bench.

"No, don't touch the cake, Wild. This is for later." Narg said swatting away the toddler's hand. She made her last minute adjustments and then looked at the birthday cake proudly. "That looks alright to me don't you think?"

Wild Child grinned and shook her head.

"What? You don't like it?"

Wild Child laughed and shook her head again. Narg knew this was something she always did when she was happy.

"Oh, well, Squirtle will eat it for you then."

Hearing his name, Squirtle raced over to the couch Wild Child was on and looked over the counter. He licked his lips.

"No, Squirtle, I was only joking." Narg said.

Suddenly the doorbell rang. Squirtle leaped off the couch and bounded over to the door. He reached up as far as he could go but couldn't reach the handle.

"Out of the way shorty." Narg laughed. She opened the door and in stepped Viola. Wild Child poked out her tongue.

"I'm sorry Viola, we're a bit busy today." Narg explained.

"You don't look very busy." She said. The feather in her brightly coloured hat waved around a bit.

Squirtle shielded his eyes from the bright colours and staggered his way back towards Wild Child.

"It's Wild Child's birthday."

"Oh, well can't I come in and wish her happy birthday then?" Viola asked.

Narg obliged. Wild Child pulled a face as Viola picked her up and gave her a huge slobbery kiss on the cheek. "Happy first birthday, sweetie." Then she plonked her back down on the couch. "I'd like some tea." She announced.

"I'm sorry, Viola." Narg said again. "We were just about to go out."

"You're not trying to get rid of me are you?"

"No," she said uncertainly. "We were going to get an ice-cream together."

"Oh, isn't that sweet?" Viola cooed. "But I did come to tell you something important."

"Oh?" Narg stirred the tea rhythmically.

"Yes, well." She began. "You know the dairy down the road called Juno's?"

"Yes,"

"Some body got stabbed there yesterday."

"Really?"

Viola nodded. "Only in his hand, could have been a lot worse. This place is getting more and more dangerous."

"Nonsense." Narg protested. "Hollowbrook Town is the quietest place I've ever known."

"I'm just saying." She said eyeing Wild Child who had moved onto the floor when Viola had sat down. She played with her new pokémon figures that Narg had gotten for her birthday.

"So, has she started talking yet?" Viola asked.

"No, but she can make plenty of noise when she wants to." Narg smiled, handing Viola her tea.

She sipped it carefully. "What's she doing?"

Narg looked at the little girl and then at the figures. There were two piles of pokémon. The one on the right was bigger and brighter. The one on the left were mostly purple pokémon.

"I think she separating the bad pokémon from the rest."

"How does she know which ones are the bad ones?" Viola asked.

"I don't know, she's never seen another pokémon besides Squirtle." Narg said. "Maybe she just knows."

"Clever child." Viola mumbled in her cup.

Well, you only had about a two hour window for someone to read and then nominate. Not really enough time unless you got lucky.

The story has to be posted here, linking is not allowed. Oh, and change the text color, it's hard to read as it is. And don't give up- if you keep on writing you may amass enough readers to get nominated next time.
