The Summer Awards Voting Thread!

Hello again everybody! The self nomination period has finished, and while we did not get that many people entering, we certainly got a lot of nominations! And due to that, it is now time for the Voting Period to begin!

As with previous voting periods, the same rules apply:
- You cannot vote for your own work in this one (even if you nominated yourself, I encourage you to vote for other people's work as well!)
- You may vote for two stories and characters per category. You may edit these nominations at any time as long as you let us know.
- Each fic and character requires two votes to make it into the next round. This rule is subject to change depending on how many votes we actually get for certain categories. As part of this, I encourage you to double check and make sure you are not nominating a fic that has already been nominated - it is nice if you want to show your support, but if there is another fic in that category that you also like and it has not made it through go for that one first.
- Nominate stuff you have actually read - should be a given but you never know sometimes And only nominate content from the list below!
- Do not ask people to nominate your work. If we find out you have done this there will be consequences!
- Judges and moderators can still vote as well.

Also, this is the period where you can nominate people for Best Reviewer and Best Newcomer! This is to recognise people that have reviewed excellently or joined the site and posted stories in the Workshop since January 21st.

Your story has already moved onto the next round.

Please double check that all: if a story is in bold, that fic has already moved on. It is fine for the story categories, as you can't really change your vote if you haven't read another story, but as there are so many characters to choose from you need to keep an eye on those: for example @MuddyMudkip, Alaska has already moved on if you would like to vote for an alternative main character, though there is no requirement that you must change your vote or anything (and thanks for the vote as well )

But mine is the only one in its category now, so does that mean it wins by default? If so, that's kinda disappointing, I was hoping for more competition. But the good thing is that I know it's appreciated a little!

It is not the only one in the category: there are still a few days left and The Passage only requires one more vote. There are three rounds: nominating, voting, judging, done in the Emmy/Oscar style. Once a fic goes bold that means it has qualified for the Judging round. You do not automatically win, and the stories are all judged and need to have some degree of competition, which has been a rule for a while now.

Honestly I think that if no one else ends up voting for it once the voting period ends then it should be moved xD at least that way there can be more of a competition between the too.

@Flaze: That is what will happen. I seem to remember once a while ago when there was still Best Shipping and only one fic got nominated, and there was a bit of discussion/debate over if the person deserved the Award or not if she was not competing against anyone. I am not sure of the exact outcome, but I think that the writer either denied the Award or reluctantly accepted. So it has always been the case that there be a minimum of two entries per category now.

Remember to nominate for Best Newcomer as well, as we have had no nominations for that so far!
