Title: The Tales of Osaka (Volume One)

(The first volume is in part one of The Tales of Osaka, each part has different story that relates to the others.)
Summary: A heroine isn’t always anyone; sometimes it’s the most unexpected person. This is a tale of Luna, a girl who lives in Osaka’s “early magical” period. But what’s so magical about her time? (Fiction)

Genre: Adventure/ Fantasy (and there’s some romance…)

Rated: PG

Note: EVERYTHING BELONGS TO ME! BWAHAHAHA! Except for the name Osaka, which belongs as a place in Japan... And someone also mentioned it somewhere in bmgf...

Prologue

“They say Osaka has ten moons, and each represents a battle of our protectors, but why would protectors battle?” A young boy asked a young girl. They stood in a grassy land attempting to pull out the weeds. It was an incredibly sunny day and very hot, the young blonde boy was sweating just like the blonde haired younger girl.

They both had hazel eyes, pale skin, and wore only what appears to be a dirty beige dress. They both also had an anklet that was colored red and blue and a brown swirl birthmark. The boy had his hair tied into one large braid and was much taller then the little girl. The girl had long blonde hair that went down to her back continuously hanging loosely. The girl was also short and not as muscular as the boy. They were both skinny and had lots of scrapes, cuts and dirt on their bodies.

“I bet it’s something to do with magic!” the little girl cheered. Her outburst made the boy chuckle, her happy face and famous words always did. To him she seemed to be the cutest little magic lover, yet also the most annoying.

He replied, “You think everything is because of magic Luna, but I think its balance between light and darkness!” He smiled at her as he plucked another weed and wiped the sweat off his face.

Luna looked at him with her head just barely above the tall grass, “But isn’t that still magic Leo?” Leo laughed and picked her up onto his back, her head was now resting on his shoulder above the grass.

“I guess it is, light magic and dark magic, maybe that’s a question for grandpa Gin,” Leo thought out loud.

Then they heard footsteps from up the road. There were four guys carrying wooden poles that led to a box. The box was also wooden with two doors on each side, both covered by light purple curtains. There was a female figure sitting on her knees from inside.

“Luna it’s the princess, she must be coming to see grandpa for her father’s cure, he’s been acting up lately,” Leo informed. Luna nodded and hopped off of his back and the two bowed down to the princess of Basaba. Leo looked up for a second only to see a face peeking at him through the cotton. The face had long black hair, dark blue eyes, pale skin that looked healthy, and a silver crown with blue diamond’s that were in the shape of a sun. Leo assumed it was the princess and he saw a light blush cross her face as she immediately closed the curtain.

He heard Luna giggle, “I think the princess likes you!” He turned and gave his sister a death glare as the princess’ “ride” came to a stop at their wooden house. The men slowly descended to their knees and the princess stepped out. She wore a plain light blue dress and walked into the hut. She greeted Grandpa Gin who just nodded and granted her entrance.

Leo and Luna glanced at each other with a smile, and then ran off towards the house. Upon entering they saw the princess and a grey haired old man wearing similar clothing to theirs. This man was Grandpa Gin, he was a man who made cures, potions and believed in magic strongly.

“You know I’d prefer it if I went to see your father, it would help me to know if this really is right,” Gin sighed. He held up a vase shaped drink which had a strong herb scent with green liquid.

The princess smiled politely, “He says he doesn’t want anyone seeing him, in case he has been caught by evil. I’ve been really worried seeing as everything else didn’t work, this drink of good is the last tactic. If he has been cursed, it should remove it, however if he has been caught by evil, this will kill him and the evil spirit…”

The girl looked down sadly as she lost more of her hope. She was hoping this wouldn’t be what it would come, but sadly it is.

Leo walked over and patted her back in an attempt at comfort. The girl thanked him with slight blush and teary eyes. Luna also walked to her Grandpa and whispered, “She likes Leo a lot, and she always looks that way around him…” This made the old man chuckle.

Luna turned to the princess and asked, “If you like Leo so much, why don’t you tell us your name?” This made Gin burst out laughing, as Leo and the princess sent Luna a glare.

The princess sighed, “Very well then little girl, my name is So-Ara, and yours?”

Luna smiled up at her and pushed the two outside, “Don’t get mad, and just have him back by night fall! He’s willing to walk you home and protect you but no guarantees with bugs! Oh and my name is Luna!”

Leo turned to his sister, “You need to stop being pushy Grandpa needs to teach you your…” Leo was interrupted with a small tug on his arm. He turned to see So-Ara looking at him with shy smile.

She pointed to the road, “Why don’t we head to the hill by the river, we can watch a beautiful sunset there and swim for a bit? But first can we head to my castle for my father?” Luna smirked and closed the door as Leo blushed a bright red. The princess turned to her servants, “We just need you guys for the trip to the castle.” They all nodded and placed the poles back on their shoulders, while Leo and So-Ara hoped in.

Chapter Ended!!!

Please review and rate! I know this isn't really the most exciting and it's not very long, but next chapter it will be! I promise there will be more action.

Chapter One: The Controlled King

Luna turned to her Grandpa who was organizing a shelf of potions, “Hey Grandpa, what is the difference between a curse and being caught by evil?”

The old man looked up, “If you were cursed, your soul would be slowly taken over by evil. So if you used that medicine, which is the only one for both of them, you’ll die because you’re losing your soul. Whereas if you were caught, well your soul would be caught; and an evil one would replace it. They say that in that situation, the evil soul goes away and your old good one would go back to its spot. They call the medicine the evil soul eater.”

Luna still seemed a little confused at this information, yet at the same time she was deeply interested. Grandpa Gin continued, “Actually, they say certain people are blessed with that very gift. To fight the evil beings and either kill them permanently or give them a good soul.”

Luna smiled; this she understood very well, “I want to be one of those people so badly! I want to save the world! Like the guardians of Osaka!”

The old chuckled, “It’s a big responsibility and you haft train hard AND are able to use the powers… Why don’t I just give your first task, check up on your brother and follow him to the castle, I’m unsure about that King…”

Luna nodded smiling, “I’ll do it Grandpa!”

*****************

So-Ara looked out the door to see the castle up ahead, “Leo we’re almost there!”

He smiled nervously; he still wasn’t really used to the idea of dating a princess… So-Ara hoped out with the medicine in her hand, and so did Leo. They went into the large structure; slowly they walked through the grey tiles towards the Kings room. Slowly So-Ara opened the door. The two saw the king, who had the blanket over him entirely, lying on the bed tiredly.

“Father, I got the potion for you, this should help,” So-Ara smiled kindly and held above the blanket.

His voice boomed, “I DON’T WANT IT! GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME!”

“F-Father?!” So-Ara exclaimed. The King rose from below the blankets, he revealed his looks entirely. He had brown scruffy hair, glaring red eyes, and a pale face that looked already dead. He wore no shoes and just had a beige dress on; he also seemed to have this strange dark aura around him.

“Leo!” A voice called, Luna ran into the room to see everyone shocked. She noted the king seemed to be evil now, either caught or cursed… The dark king glared at Luna, he brought his hand up and aimed it at Leo, who was shocked beyond belief. He shot a big black beam at the boy, and it hit! Leo crashed right into the wall with a whole literally through his body. Luna gasped in horror, one shot and it likely that her brother was dead, no he WAS dead.

“You’ll pay for this!” She screamed as she turned back to the King. So-Ara ran for Leo’s body and desperately called his name. Luna took the Evil Soul Eater Medicine and threw the liquid at the king, however, he dodged. Luna frowned began to wish she had those special powers Grandpa talked about.

“WHO’S PAYING THE PRICE NOW!” he smirked and aimed a hand at Luna. He shot the dark beam at her who just put her hands together and prayed.

“LUNA!” So-Ara called, ‘please don’t tell me she’s giving up,’ she thought to herself. But before the beam hit, a large yellow wall formed around the girl. The wall had a green ten pointed star on it as some sort of symbol. The dark beam went directly into the star and stay there. The wall deformed and Luna suddenly had the same dark aura around her. As if she were possessed, her eyes turned yellow like the wall.

A loud roar was filled throughout the room as Luna repeated the action of the king, only she shot the beam at him and it was twice as wide. But before it hit, he fled the room, escaping through the window and the dark beam went right through it hitting nothing. The dark king was now on the loose.

Luna fell unconscious onto the floor, like she no longer had a mind or soul in her body. So-Ara noted this and began to panic wondering what to do. Some of the citizens nearby ran into the castles open doors, wondering what happened. When they saw the messy state the room was in, the boy with whole in his stomach, a freaked out princess, and an unconscious girl. They all immediately picked up the girl and boy, and told the princess to follow.

****************

Luna slowly opened her eyes, what happened? The last thing she remember was praying, but then something took over her body. If felt like the thing had ripped something out of her and replaced it with hurt… Like someone tore her soul out and put in one that was way too big for her body… She could still feel the aches o having too much pressure in her stomach.

She noted her surroundings, she was in her own hay bed, at home… How did she get here? But then remembered a horrible image that came to her mind and the pressure felt small at the thought. Her brother had probably died thanks to that dark king! ‘I need to kill that king for killing MY brother!’ she thought with haste.

Grandpa Gin walked in carrying a tray with a cup of some sort of potion. He saw Luna’s opened eyes that looked ready to kill, he sighed, “Yes Luna, I’m sorry but Leo has no soul, he’s… Dead.” Gin burst out into tears, that boy was like his son. He found Leo when he was a young boy out in the field, asking the man if he could get money in any way from him. The boy was just trying to take care of his baby sister, and they both slept in fields with no parents to help. Since that day, Gin took care of them, and they both thought of him as a grandfather.

Luna looked up at him, “Grandpa, what happened to me and Leo? I feel like something too big for my body is inside me, and I can’t remember what happened when the king shot that dark beam.”

Gin smiled at her, “That thing that’s ‘too big’ for your body is power Luna. You really were blessed by the guardians. You have a power and a destiny to kill evil. Luna, you just need training, you just need to find someone who can help you master your powers. Then it won’t feel too big for your body. You used those powers and scared off the king, he’s not here no more. Your prayers were granted.”

Luna was shocked, she was one of the guardians, a kid that was blessed and now had a job. To travel around and defeat evil, and avenge her brother. But she should probably travel for the training master first.

******************

After some food and packing, Luna was ready to go out and travel, she was honestly excited to see the world for once. She couldn’t wait! She was opened the door, said her goodbyes, hugged everyone, and told Gin not to burry Leo yet.

She began walking through the town, it felt very lonely. She was already on the verge of tears, her brother, and her best friend, the person that new who she was for nine years and took care of her throughout her life… Was gone just like that because the king had used one simple blast of darkness. She promised herself she would do more than avenge her brother, she would gain enough power to bring him to life. She was going to sacrifice herself for him once she beat evil. He deserved to live a life.

Earlier in her home, she didn’t show a weakness, she wanted to escape and get her quest done as quickly as possible. But now, she just wanted to return home, and cry it out to her grandfather.

“Where are you going young lady?” asked a voice from behind her. Luna turned to see a man dressed like Leo, only he had black hair and was chubbier. But his face reminded Luna of her brother so much, she wanted to cry.

She turned away from him, “I’m going on my quest,”

“Quest? Unless you’re the girl who made the evil king fled this village you’re not going anywhere! I doubt you’re her, so please go back home.” The man spoke sternly.

Luna sighed and turned to face him again, “I am that girl, I’m leaving Basaba to avenge my brother and kill evil.” The man’s face said he disbelieved Luna, as if it were a lie that he had heard lots of times.

“Prove it,” he challenged. Luna nodded, but she still didn’t quite know how to use her powers without actually praying. She didn’t want to disturb the guardians or ask to mush of her, and she wasn’t in any danger at the moment… She frowned and the man chuckled, “Not her right.”

Luna glared at him, “I am her, and I just don’t know how to really use my powers. Last time I used them it was an accident, I prayed to the guardians of Osaka while I was in danger. I really don’t know how to use them without prayers.”

The man gave a short laugh, “Here, want this dream catcher?” Before he showed it to her, she thought, ‘Why’s he changing the subject, not very serious.’ But when the man revealed his dream catcher Luna looked at it bewildered. The dream catcher was black with a white sticky net that was like a spider web and torn feathers. It also had a noticeable dark presence unlike the man; this wasn’t a normal dream catcher.

“Do I look stupid, that thing is evil, and you better get rid of it!” Luna exclaimed.

The man smirked, “I know it’s evil, I wouldn’t give this thing away, I was just testing you, go on ahead. Apparently you are the girl who scared the king off. Just be careful, you should head off to the next town, Goreano (Gore-E-An-No)” Luna was dumbfounded, well he wasn’t evil… Or is he?

She ignored it and immediately started walking off towards Goreano. She didn’t want to be home anymore, the feeling returned, no more memories please! As she walked through the forest she couldn’t help it, the grass was high and it reminded her of earlier. Everything seemed to remind her of Leo…

Then a growl disturbed her thoughts as she froze. She turned around and saw two dark red glaring eyes meeting her frightened ones. It was an animal with a dark aura, she had to fight or run. The animal jumped out from the darkness and came into clear view. On all fours, there, standing right in front of Luna, was a wombery.

The wombery looked like a wolf with long dark wings. It was naturally a dark creature that used dark powers and had sharp vicious teeth. It had a ten pointed star, similar to the one on the wall earlier, only the star was dark black. If had a look of hatred and evil on its face; and lunged at Luna. She jumped out of the way just in time, and immediately turned to face the creature.

‘This is it,’ she thought to herself. She held her hands together trying to calm herself down to gain energy. She was going to run, even if she had no chance, it was at least safer rather than getting beaten badly by this creature. She turned around and ran as fast she could. The wombery followed her close behind as it flew after her, but then she fell and her foot got stuck in a large strong root. ‘How am I going to get out of this?’ she asked herself.

“Dark Shield!” A voice declared. Luna looked behind her, a boy stood with his hands up as if to block a move. Instead, a large dark shield appeared in front of him, protecting him and the girl from the wombery. The creature went right into the shield, as if it were water, only it was now trapped and a part of the boys power.

He turned to her and stated, “Not much people come out here in this place, not unless they have a reason.” Luna looked at him that was sort of a statement and a question.

She ignored the thought and tried to slip her foot out of the root. It was in awkward squished position under the root and it was throbbing. The boy’s curios expression turned into a sympathetic one. He knelt down next to the root and looked at her foot. He pushed the heavy root up so Luna could move it out. She smiled, but her foot still hurt.

The boy smiled at her, “I’ll start off less scary, my name is Ren, and yours?” Luna pushed herself up into a sitting position and smiled at him. She finally noted his looks. He had brown hair that was in a braid, he wore shorts and a tank top that were beige. He had kind brown eyes, peachy torn skin, and a wide smile on his face. He must’ve been a traveling peasant from either Basaba or Goreano.

Luna refocused her thoughts onto his question, “Call me Luna, I’m traveling to Goreano to find someone who can help train me!”

Ren looked oddly at her, “Train? What do you want to train for?”

Luna smiled, “I have these powers but I don’t really know how to use them. So why are you out here?”

Ren frowned at her, he didn’t like to relive or retell why he was out in the open. But he decided to tell her, “I was kind of an outcast in my town. All the kids thought I was weird. I trained my powers with a man called Hongeo, I learned all about magic that way. But then one day I accidentally hurt a little kid and everyone thought I was a bully. So I ran out here where there’s no civilization. Now I roam the forest floor freely and battle other creature as a way of training. But if you run into the dark creatures, you haft to battle them and kill them.”

Luna felt bad for the boy, “Can help me get to Goreano?”

The boy smiled at her, “Sure! Besides I don’t think you’ll do well if the dark creatures see you limping around here.” Ren held his hands out and pulled Luna back to her feet. She smiled at him and leaned on her left foot, the one that wasn’t throbbing at the moment. The two smiled at each other and started walking through the forest. Little did they know they were being watched by several dark angry eyes.

Chapter Ended

Yes, more action will come when Luna knows how to use her powers. Why? Because she’s a beginner so most of the stuffs just one hits. But now that they’ve both used their one hit, it won’t be one hit KOs next chapter.
