The Theme of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon

Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald had the Land, Sea and Sky theme; Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum had the spacetime theme, Black, White, Black 2 and White 2 had the realistic and idealistic theme, and X and Y had the Life and Death (or Destruction) theme. What do you think would be the theme for the story or plot of Sun and Moon?

For me, basing on the Logos and the names of the games, I think that it will be about Light and Darkness.
 
Day and Night themes do seem pretty obvious, maybe a little too much. Maybe the protagonist will want to cause everlasting day/night?

That said, it'd be interesting to see a strong focus on day/night cycle, and have lots of events that only happen during either time period.

Straying a bit outside the box - maybe activity and rest? Think of it - the sun is constantly active, burning and putting out light and heat. And in contrast, the moon quietly drifts alongside us, merely reflecting the light that hits it. These could be metaphors for the balance of activity and rest in our lives. When do we work? When do we settle down? How much should we do of each? Maybe that could work as a theme.
 
Black and White had a theme about how you shouldn't view things as black-and-white, as well as respecting others who have different views from you. I'd like something deep like that, rather than just the usual "hey, these things are opposites of each other, but are part of nature and work together, or whatever."

I'd like to see them go the BW route again and downplay the "lol opposites" angle, and instead have both versions work together to push a theme or narrative. Like, maybe the sun and moon represent things changing over time, you moving forward and growing up.
 
tbh i doubt it'll overtly have to do with the sun&moon/day&night. the games' themes rarely tie into their names, with the notable exception being BW1. sun and moon will probably be thematically tied to the box mascots though.
 
Maybe the theme will have to do with space? I dunno. Just that one of the gym leaders from last gen had a very celestial themed outfit, one of the routes in ORAS had a nice shot of the sky via a body of water, and the fact you go to space to fight Deoxys at the end of the Delta Episode. Now we've got Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Dunno exactly what they'd do with it, but it's something to ponder on.
 
Okay, Day and Night are the too-obvious ones. Don't see what they can do with those story wise, except a team wanting eternal day/night as pointed out...
Light and Dark, I like. But very general. Good and evil, or literal light and dark? I don't see how it can be good and evil... (we can't have a "good" team), so, what could it be about?
Sun and Moon literally... A team that wants to destoy the sun or moon....? But why?
Solar and Lunar.... I wonder what kind of things we can find from historical myths we can find for these... Akin to the Yggadrasil theory for XY...
The Sun was common for being worshipped, and many early religions were based off Sun Gods.
I've heard of the Sun and Moon being lovers too. Perhaps these two Legendaries won't necessarily be oppositions to each other, sort of like how there was no conflict between Lugia and Ho-Oh.
Something to do with solar and lunar eclipses? Perhaps that will be the final pre-E4 story event? Something relating the eclipses and the legendaries?
Maybe solar and lunar calendars? I'm almost sure there will be something to do with Moon phases in the game, at least being mentioned with something to do with the legendary... And for the Sun, maybe erratic weather? Hmm.
Something to do with Tides? Hmm don't know how this will mean anything.

Looking at the Logos, YES, it appears Space is definitely going to be a thing. Maybe we'll finally get to travel to Outer Space... Oh man this is good.... Deoxys... Oh man, the nature of Mega Evolution... All those Pokemon like Clefairy and what not, actually living on the moon... Mega Stones are found on the moon? Have something to do with the sun? Are from another planet....? AHH yes the possibilities are endless.

AHAHAH that's what made me post the New Type thread. It was EXACTLY as I was typing up that message.

Light vs dark type box mascot legendaries? I would like that. I embrace new types (I didn't for some time, but now I like the diea.)
Light/dragon vs dark/dragon?
Oh oh, we FINALLY get an original dragon, Light/Dark type, has ability basically giving it the Dragon type.
Okay, getting off topic, but yeah.

Or it could be Light/Fire for Sun Legendary Pokemon and Dark/Water for Moon legendary Pokemon.

I was actually one of the minority or 1% who wants GF to add Light-type to the main series games, so Sun and Moon gave me another hope, especially the types of the mascot legendaries (here am I assuming again :ROFLMAO: ,) although I'd still choose Pokemon Moon.

Anyway, on topic, if the theme will be day and night, I can already see two villainous teams trying to destroy the sun and the moon respectively. :p
 
Fairy/Fire and Dark/Ice also can work for Day and Night theme imo.

But.. I still though Fire/Flying or Fire/Dragon to represent Sun and Fairy/Water or Fairy/Ice for Moon

But for obvious reason, Moon Legendary maybe turn out to be a Rock type Pokemon.
 
Seasons. More specifically the Equinox or Solstice. Maybe some sort of Eternal Summer/Eternal Winter thing could e going on, in relation tobthe eclipses.
 
I want to say the Sun and Moon could represent the passing of time, and since they're both located in space. . . . the "theme" would be space/time, but gen 4 already did that ;_;

So yeah I'm thinking the theme of the titles is just day/night. I feel like the overall theme of generation is going to dig deeper than that though. Given how kalos was given the theme of "beauty", I'm going to guess that whatever region we have for these games, are going to have a theme of "celebration".

So we kind of ARE Getting Pokemon Sun, Moon, and Earth.... Interesting.... Other than the curved line, notice the outer space background too... Don't think it's a coincidence.

EDIT: Whoaaaa that's cool how it posts pictures like THAT now... I like it.
 
Other theme can be 'Creations' and 'Destruction'

or just simply 'Hot' and 'Cold'
