So number 151. I remember back way back in the day Mew was white. I never understood the change to pink. It rather confuses me becouse people will tell me it was always pink. But in its debut movie it was white. *however oddly enough on the cover later depicted pink. It makes less sense when you think about its clone mewtwo being white. Should Mewtwo not be pink as well?

But more importantly..

In the movie Mew is pink. Very light pink, though.

But there is an old plushie of Mew that is white. I read somewhere that the makers didn't know what colour Mew would be, so they left it white.

I remember that stadium and stadium 2 mew had pink tip on its toes and the tip of its tail.

In Pokemon Snap, I am pretty sure he is white with pink tips on his feet and tail. I think they took this to mean he's a Light Pink, but yeah... I had always thought of him as white.

I like the white with a pink hue to it better than the full pink Mew.

It was probably due to restrictions in the game's colouring. If I recall, the original games could only have two colours per Pokemon.

I agree; white Mew with light-pink ears and such was a lot cuter.
I find full-pink Mew to be a bit tacky.

Seeing as Mew was always a bit of an odd Pokémon (as in, no one knew Satoshi had programed it into the game and all) I assume no one knew what its real colour was. Here are the colours and versions I've seen of Mew:

* Pure white.
* Pure pink.
* Very light pink.
* White with it's feet and tail tipped pink-ish red.

guys, I think that mew being white probably looked bad, because it didn't take a lot of imagination to think of him as a sperm.

On Bulba's mew page in its images it had a golden mew sprite that just so happened to amuse me greatly.

....Dude, what? Since when has anyone called Mew a sperm? Yes it's body was vaguely based on a fetus, but for crying out loud, I've never heard of nintendo having problems because "parents are complaining that the pokemon looks like a sperm." I think that's just your mind. Almost everyone I've met looks at Mew as "a cute cat thing". ._.

As for the question, I prefer white/super light pink Mew. I remember noticing that bubble gum pink years ago and hating it to death. It just looks tacky and less...pure? I dunno...then again, I also thought Ho-oh looked better when it was all gold with the rainbow mixed in. When we actually saw it's real color, I hated it. ^^; XD

They keep changing it's color a bit in each game, too.

White with a pink tint in RB:

Yellowish in Yellow:

Violet in GSC:

Reddish pink in RSE:

And now pure pink in DPPt:

I personally would like it to be light pink.

There was another thread discussion this already.
It was decided that Mew is pink, peach, orang, white and purple, at the EXACT SAME TIME.

To put it simply, Mew is the colour of flesh.

Yeah, lighter mew is better, altho red and blue, I think yellow too. Didn't have real color. It was made for the original gameboy wen gameboy pocket came out

Do remember that Red and Blue were made for the original Game Boy, so the "natural" color is black and white. (My red version will by default show all the Pokèmon in a red-ish tone, while Blue they were blue, and by pressing random buttons when turning the game boy on they got in all sorts of strange colors XD Like inverted. That was fun.)
Yellow didn't have very good colors either, GSC were the first real Pokèmon games in full color.
There are limitations to what colors even a Game Boy Color could show, GBA was a bit better, and DS currently the best in the handheld Nintendo-line.

I've always seen Mew as bright pink.

Huh? White? I always thought it used to be a light pink, with dark pink tips(sometimes). It's sprites looked rather pinkish, except in Yellow, for some reason. I guess it was because of the color limitations, though, weren't the Color and Gameboy both 8 bit?

Now, it's..Dark pink.

I never really noticed that before. I like the lighter Mew better.

I still think Mew should stay a light pink, not the bright pink it is now. >_<

But they DID change a lot of pokemon colors over the years... mew is no exception. ._.
