The Tournament to Victory
Prologue
“And the newest tournament between champs will begin tomorrow. This tournament is supposedly the best tournament in history,” the host said on the Radio. Ritchie Hikomashi, a trainer that would be competing in this tournament, rolled over and turned the radio off. He sat up, walked over to his dresser and got dressed.

He put on a blue cap with a yellow band going around it, his brown hair coming out from underneath it. He also put on a green vest, green shirt and green pants with yellow stripes going down the sides. He then grabbed a yellow and red backpack.

Ritchie then went over and grabbed five poke balls. He opened all of them releasing Ritchie’s Pokémon. “Sparky, a Pikachu, Happy, a Buterfree, Zippo, a Charmeleon, Cruise, a pupitar, and Rose, a Tailow. “You guys all ready for the big tournament tomorrow? I have decided who will help me in the first round. Sparky, Zippo, and Cruise, you will be in the first, third and fifth round. Happy, Rose and Sparky will be in the second and fourth round. Sparky, which means it’s up to you in almost all rounds,” Ritchie said.

All of his Pokémon jumped up in agreement, and Ritchie returned them to their poke balls. Just then, a knock was heard from the door. “Come in!” Ritchie said.
Ash Ketchum, Ritchie’s long time friend walked in. “So Ritchie, I was looking at the matchups, and me and you will only battle if we both move on to the final round. That means we have to fight, right?” Ash asked.

“Ha-ha ya, we have to Compete,” Ritchie replied. He released his Sparky, to play with Ash’s Pikachu. “Can you believe it’s been six years since we met in the Kanto league?” Ritchie asked.

“It’s crazy how fast time flies, It seems like I met you and Sparky yesterday,” Ash said, smiling. He was wearing a red hat, with a green mark on the front. He also wore a blue jacket over a greenish-blue shirt.
“Even though we’re friends, I won’t go easy on you,” Ritchie said. He laughed and then stood up. “My first match starts later, so I better go get ready,” Ritchie said. He walked over and picked up Sparky.

“Ha-ha. Well, I better go rest too, come on Pikachu buddy,” Ashe said. They left the room, and Ritchie stood there. “This is it Sparky, let’s go,” Ritchie said. The duo walked off, closing the wooden door. They walked down the hallway, thinking of their first match.

Their first opponent would be Gary Oak, Ritchie thought of what Pokémon Gary would use. He knew that Gary’s best were Blastoise, Electivire and Nidoking, but you could never know. “Guess we will see,” Ritchie said, as they were arriving at the Pokémon center, known as a Pokecenter. He handed his pokemon to Nurse Joy and sat down.

here itr is!!

Chapter 1: The First Battle
“Ritchie, your Pokémon are ready,” Nurse Joy said. Ritchie walked over and picked up his five pokeballs, and walked out of the Pokecenter. He walked over to a lobby, where there were a lot of trainers Ritchie knew. Most important though, was a kid in a corner talking to a Blastoise, Gary Oak.

“Hey Gary, looks like I’ll be battling you first,” Ritchie exclaimed. Gary looked around, and then saw Ritchie. Gary walked over and looked at Ritchie.

“Yep, it starts in two minutes, smell ya later,” Gary said as he ran off into a hallway. Ritchie spun around and saw the hallway he needed to go through.

“Eh, this should be easy,” Ritchie said. He walked down the hallway, ready to fight. As he was walking down the dark, cold hallway, Ritchie noticed pictures of trainers on the cold, cement wall. One was Lance, who if Ritchie beat Gary, he would battle Lance.

Ritchie saw light ahead, so he sprinted and went through the wall of light. Cheers from the crowd came as he walked out. Gary was already there.

“And this battle between Ritchie Hikomashi from Viridian City and Gary Oak from Pallet Town should be exciting, as a guest judge today, Brock Stone! I will leave it to our judge now,” the announcer said. Brock then walked out onto the referee platform.

“Let the battle begin!” Brock yelled.

Gary unclipped a pokeball from his belt and threw it. A white light appeared to be pouring from the pokeball and formed a giant Kinglar. Ritchie thought hard about this, only one of his Pokémon had a type advantage, but he didn’t want to lose Sparky early. “Go Zippo!” Ritchie yelled and threw a pokeball. A Charmeleon formed from the white light.

“You don’t know much, do you?” Gary asked. He then pointed a Zippo. “Use water gun!”

“Zippo, use you speed to dodge and then get on top of Kinglar!” Ritchie commanded. Zippo rolled to one side and then ran up and jumped on top of Kinglar.

“Grab it with both claws,” Gary instructed. Kinglar reached up and grabbed a hold of Zippo. He then slammed him into the ground, over and over again.

“Grab its claws and slam it into the ground,” Ritchie said. Zippo grabbed Kinglar’s claws, and then slammed Kinglar into the ground. Thanks to Zippo’s strength, Kinglar was knocked out. Gary raised a pokeball and returned Kinglar. He then raised another pokeball, revealing a Fearow.

“Pick it up, fly high and drop it!” Gary commanded. Fearow flew over, picked Zippo up and flew into the air.

“Zippo, use your best firespin!” Ritchie commanded. Zippo sent a circling Flame out of his mouth, and it engulfed both Pokémon.

The thing is though, neither fell. As the flames disappeared, there was a Fearow and a Charizard fighting. Fearow finally landed a peck, which sent Charizard to the ground. Ritchie raised a pokeball, and returned Charizard. That left them at 1-1.

“Go, Cruise!” Ritchie commanded. The familiar white light appeared, to reveal a Pupitar. Pupitar looked at Ritchie, waiting for an attack.

“The same!” Gary ordered. Fearow swooped down, picked Pupitar up and carried him to the sky.

“Now, explosion,” Ritchie yelled. Pupitar blew up and reformed on the ground, but it fainted. Fearow also fell to the ground leaving both of them with one Pokémon.

“I guess that leaves Sparky. Come out Sparky!” Ritchie said. He threw a pokeball and a Pikachu appeared. Ritchie smiled, thinking that Gary’s last Pokémon will be Blastoise.

“Go, Golem” Gary yelled. He threw a pokeball, and the white light formed a Golem. Ritchie’s smile dropped.

“Sparky, use your best thunder!” Ritchie commanded. Sparky’s cheeks began to produce electricity, but when the attack hit, Golem just stood.

Ritchie gulped and realized golem was a ground type. “Golem! Use Rock Tomb,” Gary said. Rocks began to fly at Sparky.

“Use your speed to dodge it!” Ritchie yelled. Sparky ran and spun to dodge the rocks, then appeared in front of Golem. “Now, use your best thunder on his head!” Ritchie yelled. Sparky began to produce electricity and then yellow engulfed it. Sparky shot a beam of electricity at Golem and Golem fell.

“The winner is Ritchie!” Brock yelled. Gary ran over to Golem and returned him. Ritchie walked over and Sparky climbed onto his shoulder.

“Good match,” Gary said. He stood up, shook Ritchie’s hand and left, mad that he was defeated.

Ritchie smiled, round one was a win.

Not bad, but be sure to check for typo's and you may want to review the chapters for errors.
Good luck

Chapter 2: A new friend

After the round, Ritchie went to the Pokémon center and healed his friends. After a long, hard fought battle they deserved it. He went over and sat in a chair when Gary Oak and Ash Ketchum walked in, Blastoise and Pikachu following. “Hi guys,” Ritchie said, standing up.

“Hey Ritchie, I watched your battle and now me and Gary are discussing battle strategies. He won’t lose to you next time,” Ash said. He smiled.
“Ya, Ashy boy here is trying to train so he can catch up to us,” Gary said. He laughed and Ash smiled and put his arm behind his back, his usually embarrassed pose.
“Ha-ha, Ashy boy? Never heard about that before,” Ritchie said, smiling with the group. The three boys started laughing and the door opened. A boy ran in with a very weak looking Abra. The boy handed the Pokémon to Nurse Joy. He then walked over and sat down.
“Wait; are you Ash, Gary and Ritchie?” The boy asked. At the sound of his name, Ritchie turned around. The boy had Black hair and dark brown eyes.
“Yes, yes we are,” Ash said. Nurse Joy then walked over. “Ash, Gary, Ritchie, Lan, all your Pokémon are healed,” Nurse Joy said while handing a lot of pokeballs over.

“So your name’s Lan?” Ritchie asked the boy. He smiled and nodded.
“Ya, I want to be a Pokémon master, but Abra and I are too weak,” Lan answered. He looked at the pokeball in his hand.
“No Pokémon are too weak, come on, I’ll help you two train and maybe catch you a new friend,” Ritchie said. The duo left the Pokémon center and headed for Viridian forest. They entered and Lan looked around, surprised by all the Pokémon. Just then, Ritchie nudged him. “See that Weedle over there? I’ll help you catch it, send out Abra,” Ritchie said. Lan nodded and sent him out, informing Ritchie that Abra’s moves were Shockwave and Teleport.

“Use shockwave!” Lan yelled. Abra sent a yellow beam of energy at Weedle, making it stumble. The Weedle shot a poison sting at Abra, but it missed. Abra used shockwave again, and the Weedle fell down, about to faint.
Now throw a pokeball,” Ritchie said. Lan grabbed a pokeball, and chucked it at Weedle. It absorbed the Pokémon and shook once, twice, three times and stopped.
“I did it!” Lan exclaimed, almost literally grinning ear to ear. He jumped up and ran over to a pokeball, then looked over and saw a group of Beedrill, attacking an Eevee. Lan, being warned about Beedrill, dropped the pokeball and ran back to Ritchie.
“Sparky, use thunder shock,” Ritchie said and threw a pokeball. Sparky appeared and attacked the Beedrill, making them run. Ritchie then ran over to the Eevee, and saw it was badly hurt. “Get in this and I’ll take you to nurse Joy,” Ritchie softly said. He pointed a pokeball at the Eevee, catching it.

The two boys ran to the Pokecenter and Ritchie practically threw the pokeball at Nurse Joy.

Nurse Joy motioned for Ritchie to sit down and he did. Lan sat down right next to him. “He can’t die, he was too young,” Ritchie said. He put his hands in his face, about to start crying.

Then, the intercom spoke. “Will Ritchie please report to the gathering place, I repeat, will Ritchie please report to the gathering area,” the intercom said.

“Will you stay with him Lan?” Ritchie asked. Lan nodded and Ritchie took off. Sparky was running quickly behind him.

When Ritchie arrived, Ash was standing there. “Hey Ritchie, heard that you won,” Ash said. Ritchie nodded and then explained everything that happened to Ash. After explaining all that, Ritchie started to let tears out.

“Its okay buddy,” Ash said. Pikachu and Sparky were running around the room. Trainers were everywhere, laughing at the two Pikachu.

“I got to go check on him,” Ritchie finally said, his voice going away. He returned Sparky to his pokeball and ran.

As he entered the Pokecenter, Lan stood up. “They say he’s not doing so well, he will have to have surgery”. Ritchie just stood there, about to cry again……TBC

Not bad, keep going.
Watch out for unneccesary capilization and typos. You have some around there.
It may be worth reading over your work again.

An interesting concept. I like the fact that the fanfic isn't just battle after battle - instead you've got bits inbetween each battle, such as the Gary/Ash/Ritchie chat in the Pokémon Centre.

There are a few spelling mistakes which should be corrected, but in time, this could become a good fanfic.

Just a slight quibble about the first chapter, though. The first time Sparky uses Thunder on Golem, nothing happens (because Golem is a ground-type and is immune to electric-type attacks), but when Sparky uses Thunder again, it hits. Is there any reason for this that I've missed, or is this just a small mistake?

Anyway, good fanfic - keep it up!

to answer your question, the first time, the electricity hit golems shell. the second time, it hit his head, Golems weak spot.

Other than a few misspellings and grammatical errors, this is a great story! Be sure to keep posting new chapters!

Chapter 3: A New Hope

Ritchie went back up to his room and thought about the day’s events. First Lan appeared and then the Eevee, weird. He looked around and saw his window glowing pink. Ritchie, greatly confused by the glow, walked over. There he saw a Pokémon, with stars for feet and pink in color. Ritchie immediately realized this creature was Mesprit, the Pokémon of emotion. <Ritchie, I have been watching you from the beginning of your journey, my brothers have too. I know that you have made friends and suffered the loss of two friends; because of this I am going to go to Mew and ask him to grant you life of your newest friend. You must promise me that he will not get hurt, or bad things will happen to you> Mesprit thought and Ritchie heard it.

“Yes, I will do anything to save that little guy,’ Ritchie replied. He studied the Mesprit, trying to find a loophole around the whole “Bad things will happen to you” part.

<Ok, I must go> Mesprit thought and vanished. Ritchie walked over and laid down on his bed, and released Sparky. The little yellow mouse tilted his head and gave him the ‘what’s wrong” look.

“Heh, it’s nothing buddy,” Ritchie said. The then heard a gunshot and a scream. The duo ran outside and to the garden part, and there stood Ash, with a gun in hand and a couple standing across from them. The boy had a bullet hole through his leg. The girl was standing there, crying. Ritchie recognized the Duo as Gold Silverstein and Crystal Jewel. Pikachu was Shocking them as they sat, frightened.

“I said will you let me have the championship? Or do I have to convince you some more?” Ash said. He then noticed Ritchie. He swung around and pointed the gun at him. “If you tell anyone about this or even try to win that championship its over for you,” Ash continued. He let out Charizard, Ash and Pikachu climbing on and they flew off into the night sky. Ritchie ran over to Gold, and helped Crystal pick gold up.

“We got to get him to the hospital!” Crystal exclaimed. They rushed into the Emergency entrance and gave Gold to a Doctor. He was rushed into a room while Ritchie and Crystal had to wait in the lobby.

While waiting, Ritchie began to think about Ash. He couldn’t believe that Ash would do such a thing, especially to his friend, Ritchie. He had known Ash for about three years now, and he didn’t think Ash would ever do that. Just then, the hospital doors opened and Lan rushed in. “Eevee’s ok! Here’s his pokeball Ritchie,” Lan said.

Ritchie smiled and took the red and white sphere from the boy. Lan looked at Ritchie suspiciously and Ritchie just said that they found Gold in the woods. Lan just walked out of the hospital, clearly not believing Ritchie.

The doors opened again and Sparky walked in, clearly mad for being left behind. He didn’t say a word and just grabbed his pokeball, disappearing inside.
Ritchie looked over at the girl next to him; he had only seen her a few times. She was Gold’s sister, their parents separating a few years ago. Ritchie then decided to let out Eevee.

The same red light formed a brown kitten like Pokémon, Eevee. The Pokémon shook its fur like a wet dog and Ritchie laughed. Eevee climbed up onto Ritchie’s lap and started to lick his face.

Crystal looked annoyed about the fact that Ritchie could laugh when gold was just shot.

Ritchie returned Eevee and stepped outside, needing fresh air. He looked up at the star filled sky. There was a light shooting across, it looked like a shooting star, but it was blue. Then a gold line appeared next to it. Then a pink, a white, a blue, a darker pink, a green and a orange. Ritchie didn’t know how they were that colored, but it was cool. Ritchie also seemed to feel a strength coming from them. It gave Ritchie courage and determination.

Crystal then walked out and walked up to Ritchie. “Gold will be ok, the doctors said he should be healed in time to battle you in two days,” Crystal said.

“What battle? Oh ya! The tournament,” Ritchie said. With all the past events, he forgot about the tournament. Crystal smiled and walked back in. Ritchie looked back up at the night sky and saw the lines; they seemed to be getting closer. Then he realized it, they were going to land on earth. They came closer, closer, closer, until they landed.

props to anywonme that can figure out what the lights are.
