The Tower

(Backstory here. Don't like, just skip it.)

For most people, The Tower has always been there. Standing as a beacon, not quite a structure but a world that one inhabitated. Separated into "spheres" often called floors, each had everything you would expect of a world - a land, sea, and sky. Although divided by metaphysical boundary, they were intrinsically connected. And thus, it fell upon the inhabitants The Tower to maintain their home.

They strove to make it perfect; to terraform the various environments of each floor and create a system that worked not only in their favor, but seamlessly. This was achieved. For a while, at least.

The enemy of progress is those with a dastardly agenda. One such person, harnessing the powers and tools used to make this world a perfection, succumbed to their greed, and used those tools to wreak havoc on the people of the world. They twisted the lands and people, destroyed monuments of progress, created monsters of untold horrors, and forced the inhabitants to corrall themselves in the places untouched by the assailant's deadly influence.

Before a counterattack could be made, The Adversary fled to the top of the tower; an inaccessible, unknown floor known colloquially as the Fiftieth Sphere. There, they made to replenish their power and once again attack all of those in the world below every fifty years.

The people, tired of this oppressive force lingering above them, began to select individuals who could go to the top of the tower to fight. Every fifty years, new individuals would be selected to bear the burden of travelling to the Fiftieth Sphere to do away with The Adversary. None have succeeded completely, but who knows what the future will hold.

TL;DR - at least read this part
The setting is a place called The Tower where everything's separated into fifty floors. Pretty much every floor is like it's own little world, with sky, land, cows, and other worldly stuff. The OG people made the tower good, then The Adversary made a lot of it bad. The latter ran away to a place they can't reach without magic, and more or less orbital nukes the lower floors with bad stuff since they're untouchable. So, the people started picking people to inherit magic and scale The Tower to get to the top floor to fight the douche at the top.

So, welcome to The Tower. It's an RP. RPs are cool. You play as one of the newest picks to go up The Tower to beat the big bad at the very end. As a person selected, you get access to magic - something pretty much most others in the whole tower don't have.

As far as the basic information goes, that's pretty much it. All important info is in spoilers, including the magic info and the sign-up sheet.

Rules
  • All BMGf and Roleplaying Section rules apply.
  • You can only have one of the categories of abilities. No overlap.
  • A lot of the world is free-roam oriented. Just no jumping straight to floor 50.

Magic
Magic is split into four categories.
  • Kinesis: Elementalism, energy projection, physical matter/particle manipulation.
  • Psionics: Telekinesis (sans matter manip), telepathy, mental manipulation.
  • Biotics: Healing, debilitation, buffing, debuffing, transformation/transmutation.
  • *Planar: Summoning (physical), space, time, spiritual power and souls.

* A close eye will be kept on this one. It's a powerful school, but all effects are not only localized, but wear the user down faster than the other three.

Notes
  • The younger your character is, the less skilled they'll be with their (relatively new) power.
  • No, you can't bend time and space in totality. You can mess with it in an area, but the effect will end. Don't abuse it.
  • You aren't a metahuman; no increased physical performance/defenses by default. There's a whole subfield of magic that does that if you want to.
  • Consequences actually happen here. Every action has a reaction, blah blah. Don't be a killjoy and try to make your character untouchable.

Name: Winnie Clark
Age: 24

Appearance: Standing at around 5'2", Winnie has dark, smooth skin, and brown eyes (normally accented by makeup). Her hair is dark brown, curly, and reaches to her shoulders. Her outfits tend to look effortless: tank tops, cutoff, crop tops... However, there is a fair share of planning that goes into them.

Power: Psionics. Winnie is fairly new at this, and only has a basic grasp on telekinesis. She has quite a bit to learn.

Skills: While Winnie isn't too physically strong, she has a sharp mind. She is good at plotting, and laying out traps. She is also incredibly charismatic and outgoing; this helps her make friends, and alliances, more easily. She, however, is not afraid to call people out on their poor behavior. Winnie has a good eye for colors, and designs. She owns a dog named Twix, whom she loves dearly. Twix is a dachshund.

Name: Andres Cruz
Age: 24
Gender: Male

Appearance: Andres las long brown hair that goes past his neck as well as bangs that cover his forehead. He has tanned skin and black chestnut eyes along with a thin frame and stands at 5’9 inches.

Power: Kinesis. Andres’ power gives him control of paper, he can manipulate it at his will and can reshape or modify it. However, it’s got al the weaknesses that paper has and is limited by Andres’ own creativity. He can theoretically harden or change the composition of the paper but he hasn't actually tried it yet.

Skills: Andres is very down to earth and has a good head on his shoulders, choosing to sit back and consider every situation, because of this he can be very analytical. He also has good knowledge of history as well as cultures and languages and has a lot of creativity due to his penchant for writing.

Name: Miles Jamison
Age: 36

Appearance:
eba79b962fe5f4d4624f62156438c600.jpg

Power: Biotics. Specifically, he can improve his own abilities a sizable amount. He's tougher, stronger and faster than the average man. His body can also heal wounds faster than natural. The cost of these abilities however has aged him faster than one would expect and using them too much wears him down further.

Skills: Miles is former special forces, and as such he has all the expected military training that comes from being a veteran of the service. From hand-to-hand combat to marksmanship to tactics... he's comfortable with it all as he lived that life for fifteen years.

Lemme know if anything needs fixing!

Name:
Orion "Ryan" Zeiss
Age: 22

Appearance: Despite a physique that seems to be made up of nothing but skin and bones, Ryan doesn't lack musculature in the slightest. However, he is quite lean, and considered to be malnourished with his utter lack of body fat. This is not due to an eating disorder of any sort - he actually eats quite a bit. The food just doesn't really go anywhere. He has very messy black hair that also happens to be quite fluffy (and sticks up quite a bit due to the sheer amount of static energy he conducts), with defined features and narrow silver eyes. He typically wears a lot of tank tops and cargo shorts, though on occasion will wear a black sweater underneath an oversized shirt if the weather is especially bad outside. He often wears several dogtag necklaces from his late parents, and also wears a classy pair of Ray Bans to see properly.

He has two major scars, both from surgery which wrap around the underside of his ribcage. He's slightly self-conscious of them.

Power: Kinesis. He has a relatively rudimentary handle on electricity and electromagnetism, though his control needs a lot of work due to his youth. However, he presently has a degree of immunity to certain wavelengths of electricity. He's able to harness lightning bolts in their raw form and other mediums of electricity, though they tend to be more minor, and his control isn't so great over them. To some degree, it makes dealing with encrypted electronics easier on him. Lastly, he, to some extent, can summon particles of iron sand, though he can't quite make them bend to his will at his current skill level.

He isn't completely immune to electricity, however. If the wavelengths are tuned differently, he could easily succumb to the pain of electrocution like anyone else. If he absorbs too much electrical energy, he would overheat and eventually explode (which, typically, is not a very good thing). The risk of his power fizzling out is a dangerous one, and is the other result of overusing his electricity.

He may have more than a trillion volts running rampant in his body, but he isn't stupid enough to use them all at once, since that would be a hella stupid idea.

Skills: He's decently athletic, though most of his mundane talents lay in technology and culinary arts. He's a tech whiz, and a semi-pro photographer. Surprisingly, his skill with photography lies more with instant polaroids, not with digital cameras. Not only is he a fantastic cook, but he is also a master in the art of guilt-tripping.

Name: Brooke Maywell
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Appearance:
83B.jpg

Power: Brooke can use and manipulate shadows. She hasn't mastered it by any means, and can only do basic shadow manipulation such as creating illusions. She hasn't learned how to do much outside of it.

Skills: While she's not the most physically strong or fastest, she can work well with numbers due to her job as an accountant for a medium-sized business. She likes to analyze everything in a situation before coming to a conclusion or judging. This keen love for numbers is actually helpful in her cooking and baking.

If there's anything I need to change, let me know okay? ^^

Name: Amelia Zedolia
Age: 35

Appearance: Amelia has long leaf green hair that she keeps usually in a braid with a lock of golden bangs hanging loose. Her skin is a nice creme and she stands at around 5'11'' with eyes to match her hair. Outfit wise she wears a sleeveless dress like outfit, with a bottom that is more like a long loin cloth. Under this she has a short pair of shorts. Her shoes reach to her knees lacing up, but the toes are open. She has a belt with pouches around her waist full of items she may need. On her right leg is a handmade knife. on her back by her waist she carries another handmade weapon that is similar to a kusarigama. She also wears a cloak that wraps easily around her neck like a loose scarf, allowing her to choose when to use it and when not to. Lastly her left legs has more pouches strapped to it, and she of course carries an over the shoulder bag. Lastly finger-less gloves that reach her elbows, though she also has a pair of fingered ones.

Power: Bionic (I think) Amelia's powers allow her to user her energy to heal or strengthen herself or another person. She can heal most non major wounds, and a few major ones. She can also help major ones, but never can she do anything about wounds that cause quick or instant death. The worst the wound the less she can do due to the fact that minor ones required almost no energy and worse ones require a lot more. She could even potentially save a life at the cost of her own. She also is able to easily give herself strength buffs to hit her opponents harder, however she still struggles with doing so on others as it takes an amount of concentration and energy to do so, and thus is more taxing than doing so on herself.

Skills: Amelia is quite skilled at hand to hand, as well as using her knife. She is very agile, quick, and flexible. Most of all though she is extremely skilled at manipulating her special weapon. Her special weapon resembles a kusarigama but instead of a blade at one end, hers has a blade on each end, and are not as curved, looking more to slice than hook. This chain has a eight foot length, allowing her to reach quite far with it. She also has extensive knowledge of plants and nature in general and there are very few she doesn't know. Lastly she can make strong sturdy weapons out of natural substances such as rocks and branches, as well as meld metal if need be.

@Midorikawa As far as effects go, what she does is totes fine. However, it can't be tied to plants - that's a Kinetic power. So, it'll only have to be energy that does it, and make sure that she isn't extraordinarily good with her powers. Otherwise, you're all good. Accepted.

@Midorikawa Then, the ability to heal and debilitate directly has to be taken out. You could reasonably do something of the sort with a plant, but it can't be the principal ability in any sense.

@Midorikawa Alrighty. Just take out the plant power and you'll be golden.
