Since this is a "tabletop game" as well (albeit a not very well known one that was also very short-lived), I was wondering if there were any other fans or information about them . . .

That and also it isn't mentioned at all in Bulbapedia yet . . . hopefully I could help change that.

I don't know much about the Trading Coin Game except from what the case I have says, but it's basically a coin spinning game introduced in 1999 that lets players battle each other based on the spin.

I only have Gengar, Ponyta and Bulbasaur . . . but all you need are three coins per player. It looks pretty simple

I still have my coins, rulebook and charts all intact, so expect a scan later this week! I think it was made only for the first 150, because they did make a Mewtwo one, but I was satisfied with just one pack. *is totally regretting this now*

Anyone else play this, know anything else about it, or have any stories to share about this lesser-known TCG series???

I've never actually played the game, but I do have a set of coins. I have Eevee, Wigglytuff, and Jolteon. That was the only pack I ever got (I seem to remember it being a Christmas gift) but its still in good condition with the origional rules and attack chart. I seem to remember someone on these forums talking about buying a whole bunch of coins in hopes of getting a specific pokemon but I can't remember who this was or when they said it.

Awesome that you have a pack too! I'm guessing it wasn't that popular back then (despite the simple playing style and all), but at least the coins are nice-looking and shiny.

Gah, I think I wanted to get an Eevee myself . . . Have you ever played the game with anyone before?

I've actually never heard of this... it seems to be a short-lived, somewhat unpopular aspect of the franchise. >_< Be that as it may, I'm interested in learning more about it. The fact that it's not included on Bulbapedia is a real shocker, so I'd appreciate it if anyone can dig up any more information on it. And as for those scans, it would be great to get those ASAP. Thanks for bringing this up.

Aw man, I completely forgot about this. I'm pretty sure I have a Charmeleon coin around somewhere...

Yeah, it was rather short-lived, but the coins are still nice to look at. The game is rather simple in my opinion, but I'm not sure why this TCG was eventually a FAIL.

And you're welcome! I want to learn more about it too, . . . maybe to make it more known to you guys. And the lack of COIN LUV in the 'Pedia surprised me too. Maybe I could help with an article about it or something (although . . . I've never done one before)?

And the scans . . . I'll have mine scanned in a couple of hours at least. Not sure when the post will be, but it'll probably be tonight at the earliest.

I've never even met anyone who has any of the coins. I like the shiny coins and all, but they haven't really gotten much use.

I have a scanner, but is it hooked up and do I know how to use it? No...:dumb: I'm sure I can find some way to get some pictures of the coins up though?

I haven't either! That's why mine are still in decently good condition. I just took a look at them less than a couple of months ago and got curious about looking for more info about them.

I just scanned mine and the rules . . . but all the pictures are HUGE in size.

Front Cover - Back Cover - Battle Charts/Items/My Coins! - Rules (1/2) - Rules (2/2) - WTF? The Rule Covers

I hope everything's readable at least. But yeah, the last scan (and the back cover) proves that it's legit stuff. There's also an address back there too, but I doubt it'd help much to write to them now. (XD)
