Something I've come to realize after my latest hiatus: my RPs die because they burn me out. I always tend to these big, dramatic things, where I envision a sweeping plot and epic tales of heroism. And I do enjoy those, and love telling an awesome story with lots of others. But they just burn me out: the pressure--totally self-imposed--of trying to hook people with something awesome and memorable just scares me straight to my bones. Even before the RP really gets off the ground. And then I end up running away from BMGf again.
But the thing is, I still love RPGs to death. And after joining an RP group in real life, I think I'm starting to understand why I do. Sure, heroics are awesome, and everyone loves a good story. But I look forward to my sessions with my friends because they're my friends. I just love the silliness we get up to, just wasting time on ridiculous things with them. College has been eye-opening.
So maybe I can bring a little bit of that new-earned self-awareness here, where my love of RPing began. The fifth anniversary of my joining BMGf is coming up, and I've been extraordinarily lucky to meet so many wonderful people here on BMGf. But I've never really gotten the chance to know them, to really lighten up with all of you. So that's what this RP is about. Nothing epic, or crazy (well, unless you guys want it). Just a chance to relax, (hopefully) make friends, relax, and (maybe) have a little fun.
Description:
Everyone loves the stories of great Trainers battling it out at the top, clashing for supremacy--the best of the best, elite vs. elite, would-be champions striving for the title. But, not everyone can be the Champion; you can go your whole lives without ever entering a League Tournament, let alone the hallowed halls of the Champion League and the Elite Four. Maybe you don't have the all-consuming drive such a pursuit takes, or the raw talent to see the best strategy at all times, or even the sheer dumb luck to succeed against impossible odds. But that doesn't discount your passion, or your love of battle. So what if you can't be the League Champion? You can still be the very best you can be--on your own terms.
Of course, if you personally can't be there, at the very top of the competitive scene, you can still cheer on those who are. Maybe they're your goal post, ever before your eyes and urging you on. Maybe they're your inspiration, a reflection of yourself and who you want to be. Or maybe a role model and teacher, someone whose steps can guide your own. Maybe it's Lance, the famed Dragon Master. Or Aaron, the newcomer in Sinnoh, or the glamorous Diantha. Or even the enigmatic, inscrutable Red. Whatever the reason, whoever it is--you're one of their fans.
And it's not just you. Everyone's a fan of someone, and everyone wants to share that experience. Maybe you'll follow your idol's rivalries, challenge their fans to settle who's best once and for all. Or maybe participate in less spirited, more thoughtful debate. Or maybe you'll just skip to the being friends bit--after all, competition engenders friendship even more easily than it does hostility.
The Trainer Fan Club welcome any and all who wish to discuss and celebrate the best--both Trainers and experiences--in the world of Pokemon. Friendships, rivalries, competitions--who knows what awaits? It's all up to you.
