I like more strategic parties but every now and then I try mixing things up a bit with a 1 turn party. This is a party I made specificly to focus on defence. tell me what you think. (This is for double battles with tournament rules)

Gigalith, holding life orb.
A: sturdy
moves:
stone edge
protect
earthquake
explosion

Probably the second most battle worthy on my team. his EXTREME lack of speed is made up for with sturdy and the life orb increasing damage dealt (does life orb affect explosion). I also need to say this is my favorite pokemon of all time above even blaziken.


Ferrothorn, holding big root
A: iron barbs
moves:
Leech seed
Ingrain
Protect
Power whip

This guy should be able to withstand nearly anything. Double S.E. fire type moves can be a threat but a protect along with healing from leech seed and ingrain should be enough to rejuvinate. Yes big root does effect ingrain and leech seed.


Metagross, holding ether choice band or red card
A: Clear Body (like a regi! awwwwwyeah!!)
moves:
meteor mash
hammer arm
bullet punch
zen headbutt

big physical fighter, he will probably have a choice band to power him up even more, I may also use a red card just to irritate opponents who use physical fire type fighters like infernape or blaziken. he is The most offencive on my team.


Mantine, holding cell battery
A: Water absorb
Moves:
Hydro pump
Aqua ring
Arial ace
Ice beam

To help balance my team, mantine has the highest Sp.defence yet. Because of his item and ability he is immune to 3 types, one of which is otherwise x4 super effective. Mantine is also not only immune to, but can get a super effective hit on the ground types that are good on the rest of my party.

Shuckle, holding Chesto or lum berry
A: sturdy
Power swap
Toxic
Rest
Protect

Cut opponents attack with power swap, poison target and wait it out. When faced with a poison or steel type this little guy is screwed. But metagross is good on poison and gigalith on steel.

Yes shuckle can lean power swap and with very very very very very... low atk and spatk he will cut the opponents power down signifigantly even if it just an average.

I considered blissy but decided it had little potential besides HP a skarmory might work though.

does anyone hve suggesstions for the rest of the party or is it perfect?
 
Shuckle with Power Swap can be devastating in Doubles, if its partner is uses Follow Me or Encore at the right time. I had a support-based Clefairy that I once used for that strategy and it worked to great effect.
 
you mean power trick?
if you do, then yes I agree, a shuckle after power trick in more powerful (atk and spatk) than deoxys in it's attack form. I used to use this but I found he could be destroyed with a single surf, earthquake, blizzard you name it. any multi target moves will destroy that strategy. on the other hand shucke can survive nearly anything after it is trained with HP evs. which is why toxic, protect, rest works so well.
 
-Electric attacks still hit a Pokemon holding a Cell Battery as far as I know.
-Power Swap? You do realize that only swaps stat changes, right? I think you mean Power Split, as Shuckle doesn't even learn Power Swap.
-Life Orb on Gigalith somewhat doesn't work well with Sturdy.
-Aerial Ace on Mantine is a joke.
 
I agree A Life Orb Sturdy is Kinda Pointless because YOur Oppenent could set up and you would be forced to attack losing Sturdy?
I also like Ferrothorn he is one of my Gen V Favorites but Fire Moves would destroy him even with the Healing from Leach Seed and Ingrain and if your oppenent does not let you set it yp it could be difficult. Fighting types also pose a threat to it as well Seeing as it is steel and from the different encounters My Closecombat recks them. Of course this is just my opinion and what happens to me. Other thant That I like the Idea of the Team. It is really good.

Also Aerial Ace is not a Joke on that thing as well. I have encounter some that use it as well and they do well. Just Saying.

Also one last thing Red Card is really dumn in my opinion. I honestly do not like this Item. It is kind of dumb because they hit you and switch you out at random which I find bad in most opinions. It never realy worked for me. It may for you though but I have never really needed it. I would def go with Choice Band.

Neosquid made 2 really good points. I never actually thought how life orb works with gigalith's ability so thanks for that. and mantine has no physical attack I don't see how I forgot that.

cell batery absorbs electric type moves and increases SpAtk when hit by one.

next up is Jacel who also made some good points...

not getting set up has been a problem until I dicovered most peoples reaction to protect. if you use protect to block a move once people will almost always reapeat the move that you blocked. the first turn I will have ferrothorn use protect and ether switch out or attack depending on what move was used. I saw the problem with fire types right away so I made sure to have mantine and gigalith ready when I send him out. a nice thing about close combat is that it cuts defence. wthe powerhouses like gigalith and metagross on my team, an opening like that would allow be to take out whoever was unwise enough to use it (at the expence of my ferrothorn of course) other fighting type moves may be a problem though. I will probably switch the life orb and the choice band between Gialith and metagross.
 
Yea the only thing that Will Raise Special is an Absorb Bulb and that is when you are hit with a water Attack.

Cheats? It can only be obtained through cheats (and trades with cheaters).

I dont think it would be okay to use an illigal item in battle. Awww :(
 
? Huh Idk I just got it from this Japanese pokemon this kid traded me. So it Could be hacked No idea. I just know I have one lol.
 
Yea I literally Have one on my game from where he traded me. I though they were legit since NPC's Use them in the subway I never new you could not actually obtain one in the game though. So he must of hacked it then.
