The Under-appreciated Pokémon Games.

(This will be updated as more people mention more games, I tend to forget things a lot so theres a lot I've missed)

Some people here may be a fan of just the main series, and some may be fans of the Mysterious Dungeon and Ranger games and the Orre games, but I've seen hardly anyone talking about two great Pokémon games (great in my opinion). I'm talking about Pokémon Puzzle League, and the more recent Pokémon Link.

Nether have battling in them, they're both... how would you explain it? Well both of them use the same kind of "match the same color" system, with Puzzle League you must match up blocks of the same type, whereas in Link you must match up the same Pokémon (or, with a Ditto).

Now many not many people on here don't like these kinds of games, but I see hardly anyone on the internet talking about them, even on here, a Pokémon-based forum.

Now I'm not saying their perfect, Puzzle League had a problem with it's difficulty setting and Link can become... well, slightly frustrating.
But really, every game has flaws so lets not dwell on that.

I only picked up Puzzle League a few months ago, I was lucky enough to find a copy in a random pre-owned game shop. It was a Pokémon game I didn't own- so I brought it.
I played it, it was very... difficult on Normal, so I had to switch to Easy. It got a little hard on that too, but the challenge of it was fun.

Link I've had since it's release over here, it's addictive, and I remember playing it over and over non-stop for weeks.

So, yeah, what do you guys think about these games? I mean, as said I don't see many people talking about them. So yeah.

UPDATE #1 Listing all the games. And what I think they come under. Sorry if my opinion clashes with yours. Feel free too post whatever you think about the games. :D

Truly Under-Appreciated Games

Pokémon Trading Card Game (GB): It was fun. Literally, that's all I can say it that it was fun. Oh, and very addictive.

Pokémon Pinball Red&Blue/Ruby&Sapphire: Not one of my personal favorites, but both games were pretty fun. I haven't played the original Pinball in years but from what I remember it was great.

Hey You, Pikachu!: Never played it as it never came out in England, possibly the most unheard of Pokémon game seeing as it's low-profile release and not making it to Europe.

Pokémon Puzzle League & Challenge: Hard too find, a little hard to play at first, but great fun. Not sure why no one really didn't get it.

Pokémon Dash: Pretty good, although it got boring after a while. Not as under-appreciated as most of the others, but still.

Pokémon Link: A damn fun game, a damn addictive game, and pretty under-appreciated as said.

Semi-Under Appreciated Games

Pokémon Snap: Not as under-appreciated as everyone thinks, but still as said in a post below it didn't get the credit it deserved. It was a fun game, and posed the option of trying out something harder in the end (getting the high-scores), one of my favorite spin-offs.

Pokémon Channel: A good game, and gives hours of entertainment. Got a little boring after a while, but really, it was pretty fun.

Games that are NOT under-appreciated
A list of games that people sometimes say are, but are in no way under-appreciated. And in my opinion, as mean as this sounds, anyone who thinks they are is an idiot, and you probably get on my nerves >_>'' (And no, I don't hate any of the games listed, it's just because they're not under appreciated, their usually almost as appreciated as the main series).

The Pokémon Ranger Series.
The Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon Series.
The Orre Games (Colosseum, XD: Gale of Darkness).
The Stadium Series.

List may be updated at random points, so keep checking back!

search on youtube, I found loads of videos on it a while ago. I thought about getting pinball too, but nto sure. Looked quite interesting, but I like pinball games.

How about Pokemon Snap? That was a fantastic, yet under-appreciated, game. It was easy to beat, but very challenging to get high scores on.

And Blockbuster had those stations where you could print out stickers of your favourite snapshots. <3 I still have all of my sticker sheets and print cards. XD

Pokemon Puzzle League is amazing and it's a shame a DS port was never made.

Aww, don't be sad. Being a lover of puzzle games, I for one actually do also enjoy playing those (though I only got to play it I think once, way back then).

I'm sure a lot of people here play those games too, but I think the reason why it's not too talked about is 'cause it's not as technical as the main games. I don't think conversations revolving around matching this color to that and chaining combos would be very interesting, won't last very long, heheh.

Pokémon Snap didn't really get the credit it deserved. Sure, it was a fun spinoff game (I spent a LOT of hours running through the same pre-set tracks, and lots of people did. That says something.) However, it was also a very creative game. There have not been very many photography games at all, and even fewer of them, if not none of them, have been any good except this one. It's a simple concept with great execution that would have worked (though it would have been less interesting) without Pokémon.

Pokemon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire is a great pinball game. Not so much a great Pokemon game.

Pokemon Ranger is incredibly hard, but really fun. I prefer the original, it has better characters, storyline and I <3 Plusle & Minun.

Mystery Dungeon is pretty meh to me.

Pokémon Trozei was pretty much ignored as far as everybody I know that owns a DS... But it was definitely epic.

Younger people don't remember Pinball or Snap and they were both legendary. The same can be said about the GBC version of Puzzle. That was by far one of the best games for the system.

I really loved puzzle league. I actually completed it 100% years ago but I'm starting it again so I can play through again.=P

I played it so much I actually beat all the difficulties including the hardest difficulties very hard mode and super hard mode which are unlockable. I'm out of practise now due to not playing it in a long time. So starting it again should be good when I have time.=)

I also have the GBC version puzzle challenge.

I don't want to know how many hours I spent trying to get the highest scoring shot of Mew. XD

Now that you mention it, yeah, there's like no photo games. Snap and... The Fatal Frame series. XD

I liked snap alot, although I never actually bought the game. My friend had it but didn't like it so he let me borrow it for a long time. I miss that game so much.

I'm thinking about buying a PMD game, but i want to try a version out to see if I like it first.

Pokemon Dash didn't get much credit either. But I think it deserves that. It was the second game I got for my DS(first pkmn diamond)and my DS touch screen was a mess afterwards. Sure, the GBA transfer was different and expanded your maps, but on Hard even people that touch their touch screen lightly can mess up their screen for First.

Pokemon Trading Card Game(Video Game)

It's a fun game for sure, especially if you don't have someone to play the real TCG with.

Isn't Puzzle League just like Panel de Pon (or, as most people know it, Tetris Attack)?

Yes, but they made it Pokémon themed and when you play the N64 version and it featured characters from the anime, which was a cool feature.

Also, I’m a little surprised that Pokémon Snap hasn’t had a sequel, especially for with the Wii as popular as it is. You would think that a point and click camera game for the Wii would be a good match.

I loved the TCG game for the GBC, and from what I remember it was pretty hard. (The fire type Grand Master looks a lot like Flannery to me.) I also got Puzzle Challenge too and put a lot of time into it.

Now that I look back Snap was very underrated, even back when I played it. Sadly, the only reason why people I knew liked it was because they could hit Pokemon by throwing apples.

Puzzle League was a fantastic game. When I first got it, I expected an actual pokemon game, so I was like "What the hell is this?" But then I played it, and I played it, and I played it some more. My sister and I were addicted to that game for a while.
