This club is for every fan of Veronica Taylor, the original voice of Ash, May, and Delia!

Club Rules:

2.You should talk about Veronica Taylor and/or the characters she played to keep discussion going.

To start off this club, here is a question.

Who is your favorite character that Veronica Taylor played in any series?

I would have to pick Ash, since he is my favorite character of all time. He wasn't the same since she stopped playing him.

Count me in! I think she's awesome. I agree Ash just doesn't seem the same since Veronica stopped voicing him. But Ash is definately my favorite character.

Agreed. Veronica is extremely talented, and she is the whole reason I got into voice acting in the first place (well, the VA switch and my love for her Ash voice). I do understand what people are saying now. Sarah is sometimes quite good with Ash, HOWEVER, Ash never seems "real" with her. It's true. And this is coming from someone who has REALLY defended Sarah in the past. But really, whenever I listen to her, I can't help but always think of the VOICE... I mean, I can't focus on what's happening really, because Ash doesn't seem real. It seems like he's just a puppet, with a ventriloquist providing some voice.

But with Veronica, Ash DID seem real. His emotions didn't seem forced. His voice seemed natural. He was Ash.

Agreed, I think Veronica literally turned into Ash, so in a way it wasn't hard for her to adapt to how Ash felt e.g. Happy or sad. I'm slightly getting used to Sarah but I still would rather have Veronica voice Ash anyday.

I agree with you completely, Ash seems like a completely different person when Sarah is playing him. It feels like Ash left the show to me. It's like he's still stuck at the end of Pasta La Vista and the next episode he was just magically replaced by someone different who is nothing like Ash. He doesn't even seem like a person at all anymore. Veronica made him sound like a true hero. Sarah makes him sound like a true idiot.

Veronica Taylor is also the reason that I would want to be a voice actor. The way she played Ash inspired me to be one. There wouldn't be a real Ash without her.

I made the same comment before in Sova. I guess when I said I was used to Sarah voicing him is the fact I've heard it so many times now that it doesn't sound natural, but I know who's speaking. Veronica did make Ash come alive but not he sounds like an entirely different person and after Veronica voiced Ash for 8 years, unless she was killed or something for them to switch on us now is just murder!

Also, it's like PUSA/TAJ just spit in her face. After all that hard work and then it's like "Well, we're just going to get someone else because they're cheaper." So as Anne Robinson would say from the Weakest Link, "Goodbye!" But it'd be more like "Goodbye, thanks for nothing!"

To put it simply, Veronica brought Ash to life on Pokemon. And it's because of her that Ash has that amazing personality. She added so much to him with her lines. And even the simple things, like Ash's laugh and his reacts, they all sound fantastic coming from Veronica. She was incredibly talented!!


Also, I'd give anything to meet Veronica Taylor. <3 <3

I wish I had some way of getting to New York Anime Festival. Curse my bad luck!! X_X

I asked Veronica how she came up with the Ash voice. She said that it was a combination of someone from Speed Racer (I can't remember which.), his Japanese voice, and her brother who was 10 at the time.

I've always wondered how Veronica came up with Ash's voice. And I never knew how she did it. Anyway, that's great! She received inspiration from several different places!

So apparently, Ash's voice is based on: a character in Speed Racer, Ash's Japanese voice, and Veronica's 10-year-old brother (at the time).

Actually he's really a she.Saw a Starz original special where the're showing the origin on anime and it's impact on hollywood,and it showed miss taylor's face.Was kinda susprised that he was a she.Same with my sister.

But it was ashame that the original VA was removed,but for some reason,everyone liked the new VA when they were introduced during the 2007 conventions after they did a demo.

I think everyone liked the new VAs because, in my opinion, Sarah has her own "fan posse" who follow her around and they proably act like she's THE BEST EVER.


And by the way, Trainer Rachel made a typo in her post there (either that or she wasn't talking about Ash's VA, she was talking about Ash, as in the character). She knows that Ash's voice is done by a woman. Also, we both know that Veronica Taylor is the original VA, and that she did Ash's voice in the 4Kids dub.

In fact, we're two of Veronica's biggest fans!! ^_^


But sadly, I've never met Veronica before in person, and I doubt that I ever will (as bad as my luck's been lately). ;_;

Remember one of the Geico commercials from a few years ago? The character she did in the Speed Racer Geico ad was Trixie, the character she wished she could've voiced in Speed Racer if memory serves. I'll have to find the exact interview from my Beckett magazine so I can give the exact details.

She did a filler character in Yu-gi-oh too if I remember right. I believe it was around the time Serenity was going in for/got her eye surgery, and the little boy who came into her room to hide under the bed was afraid of getting his shot? That was her Ash voice right there. I forget exactly what episode that was, though.

I haven't heard much of her voice since she's no longer on Pokemon. I was just wondering when Dinosaur Kids airs on 4Kids TV so that I can hear her voice live again. Ash is clearly not the same without her.
