The War Room Mafia

Perhaps in this game, who will be in the mafia side and who in the town side might be more obvious…
…but I wanted to try this theme out.
Feel free to guess who’s in this as a role. :p

Plot, shamelessly borrowed and edited from Mijzelffan’s first BMGf Mafia
If you want to read it, sure. It’s long, I warn you. I tried to keep it short as possible.
BTW, I know I’m horrible at writing fiction, so just laugh over things that don't make sense.

Setting: May 2011

In an alternate universe, there was a forum called Bulbagarden. There existed many sub-forums, and among them was “The War Room”. Many strategy-based games were hosted there, including “Mafia Games”. Like all other areas of the Bulbagarden, here there were a few Moderators that would watch over the sub-forum and check for any mischief. Any issue in the area, from deciding “who would host a game next” to removing rule-breaking players from the area were all duties of the Mods.
However, as we all know, power is an addictive thing. That's why it wasn't before too long until the Moderators grew corrupt, and wanted to do everything to make sure they kept their power in The War Room. Nominated by staff outside the area (or a mass staff drive), an active member of The War Room could be given a rank of a Mod; this was the last hope for a balance in power. But even this was quickly put down, as the few Moderators chose to infract all members active to prevent them from being promoted. And if they said “No, we don’t want him”, then no new Mod would be added.
As a result of this abuse of power, some of the frequent visitors of The War Room were banned from the sub-forum, unable to enter it.

The very members knew that they couldn’t let this go on. And their chance came; the upgrade of the area. The upgrading of the forums gave them an opening for revenge. Coded “Resistance”, the exiled members hired hackers and inventors to create a virtual space that would lead the Resistance to the server where new The War Room would be based on. The Resistance members, via a warping machine connected to their PCs, would leave their real world and enter this space (dubbed the “War Zone”) to find the server and un-ban themselves.
By the virtual reality system, the Resistance had powers to “lynch” any one person they find in the War Zone. This would be done by their teammates pointing to an enemy with a certain laser beam. The laser beam would cause a little damage to the target, and if “enough damage” was caused (=getting most votes), the laser’s target would be removed from the game. With this laser, even if any Mod happened to enter this zone, they would all simply “vote” the Mod to be removed from the area. With their numbers in majority compared to the few Mods, this sounded like a good back-up plan.

The plan might have worked perfectly…but the Mods found out the plan. In fact, while the Resistance members were entering the War Zone, the Mods had already infiltrated the space and while they also had the same kind of voting laser, they had their own weapon. They brought a shocking device that would be charged during the Days, and during the Night, the device would shock any one player with power equal to 20 of the voting lasers, which was more than enough to immediately “kill” the player and send him back to real life, unable to return to the War Zone.

(By all methods, being “killed” in the War Zone didn’t cause pain to the actual person’s body nor affected his/her real life, but removed them from the War Zone.)

Further, the Mods messed up the core memory of the reality system so that everyone who entered the War Zone would be given new “faces”. Even Mods themselves. It was impossible to figure out who was the real ‘player’ behind each visual mask that was given for their times spent in the War Zone.

Being natural mafia game players, the ‘players’ quickly settled this problem. There were Day and Night phases in the War Zone. So, during the Day, they will all “vote” for one person to be removed from the War Zone. During the Night there was a ceasefire and the use of voting lasers were prohibited. But this didn’t necessarily mean the Night would be a time to rest. The Mods, retaining their power to ‘kill’ (night kill) any one person from the game with their electric shock, would choose their target at Night.
Also, due to the reality system, many players were given abilities that would be activated in the War Zone.

Who would win in the end? The Mods, or the Resistance?

(JUST IN CASE: in the game, your role is the “real identity” per the plot and your username here is the “fake identity” given by the War Zone’s effects. :p)

TUTORIAL (edited from Rayne’s)

[HERE, the TWR Moderators are the mafia, and the Resistance is the town.]
There are two sides for the players. One is the “Town”, and the other is the “mafia”. The majority of the players are the town (I will sometimes refer to them as “innocent”).

Most of the town players do not know each other. Their goal is to get rid of all the mafia players.
The mafia players know each other from the start of the game. Their goal is to equal the town players in number.
As soon as one side achieves its goal, the game ends.

At every “Day”, all players are allowed to vote a person to be lynched (or not).
At the end of the day, the person with the most votes is removed from play.

Mafia attempts a kill during the Night phases.
(Just to avoid confusion; in this game, as long as at least one mafia player is alive during the night and they nominate a target to me, the night kill will be attempted.)

Some players have special abilities that can be activated at Day or Night. There may be other conditions for activations so keep those conditions in mind. They will be stated in your role PM.
Communication is the key. Some roles work better if coordinated with other actions.

RULES (At least read #2.)

#1. As the host, I claim the right to add, edit, or delete rules as needed in this game.

#2. General Warnings and/or Modkills for…
- Poor sportsmanship. This is a game, please don’t take it personally. (If you want to rant, then do it privately with me. I won’t change the game anything but I can listen.)
- Mentioning who your role is based on. NEVER, both in public AND private. You can claim actions (cop, spy…), but no names.
Unacceptable hinting includes “I’m you” thing, “My role is in charge of [a section]”, “My role is playing in this game”. Please don’t ask others for such information as well.
Again, you are free to claim actions and describe what actions you can do. Players can guess the role’s name after hearing action claims or posting styles, as this seems inevitable.
If you break this rule even if the 'hints' do not match your role PM, I will be at least giving a warning. (As I may be just misreading a post or there may have been a slight mistake.)
- Revealing your role PM. Enough said. Not even among ‘mafia’ players. Not a part of it, no photos, no to anything. I will be very cruel; if this happens, immediate removal from the game. (Not equal as “death”.) And don’t try the trick, “post while the host is sleeping and edit before she sees it”.

- INACTIVITY. Strictly applied this time. Unless you tell me before absence (up to five days at most), I will replace you or if not possible, remove your role from the game. This will be a pain for me, so please, if you think you can’t remain active…you might not want to sign up.
After three phases without any posts, or contacting anyone, I shall take action for the inactivity. If you want to stay low, give me a Personal Message so I know that you’re there.
Keep in mind that if you’re leaving under my permission, you are still in the game but can be lynched or killed. And yes, I will be careful this time.
- Posting after death, informative style. I don't mind joke posts or light conversations, but if you're dead, you STILL HAVE THINGS TO DO, so don't be informative in the public thread. Elaborated in the quote below.

I will be mostly looking for role name mentions. For this game, you can post PM conversations or QT messages (or threads) if you want to. Just be aware of the consequences yourselves.

#3. I would like copies of your PMs. Conversations, planning, anything. It will help me write accurate plots and check for any mischief/mistakes. If you make a QuickTopic, please give me the link. If you use a name other than your username, tell me what name you’re using in the QT.
I still have no idea how to use IRC channel or whatever else, so I’d appreciate it if you use QuickTopic.

#4. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me via PM. Especially about your role.

#5. If you change your username, please post in the thread (and better if you let me know by VM/PM).

#6. For voting, say "Vote: [player]" or "Lynch [player]". To cancel that, just post "Unvote: [player]" and then post a new name if you want to. PLEASE BOLD THEM!
You can vote “No lynch”, but in a tie between lynching a player and “no lynch”, lynching will win.
There will be only ONE lynch per day.

#7. About night actions, you can change the target, as long as it's before I am updating it. Some night actions will take effect upon the moment that I read the PM, so keep that in mind.

Also a little bit of comment…if there is a role that is named after you…don’t take the role descriptions too personally. xD
You’re free to contact me privately to tell me any opinions, though.

UPDATES
Each phase will last for 24 hours.

12:00 PM afternoon, GMT +9.

IMPORTANT! - GAME MECHANICS

1. Death ≠ Loss
Being killed does not equal losing or being out of the game.
Thus, victory in this game will be decided not as individuals, but rather, TOWN or MAFIA.
If TOWN wins, all town players win. If MAFIA wins, all mafia players win. Regardless of whether they died or not.

MODKILLED DOES NOT EQUAL DEATH. BEING MODKILLED MEANS THAT YOU LOSE, AND IF YOU WERE MODKILLED AS TOWN, YOU WOULD NOT GAIN ACCESS TO THE DEAD'S QUICKTOPIC.
IF A TOWN PLAYER THAT HAD ALREADY DIED AND GAINED ACCESS TO THE DEAD PLAYERS' QT BREAKS THE RULES, I WILL DELETE THE QT AND MAKE A NEW ONE. THAT SIMPLE.

2. After death (I am so uncreative.)
MAFIA : continue planning like before.

TOWN : After death, will be given a separate QT. I will refer to it as “Resistance IRL”.

You MAY share any info you acquired. You MAY even talk about your roles freely. IN THE QuickTopic.

What you will do is to discuss to PROTECT ONE PLAYER during the Night. The target will be protected from the night kills of the mafia side.
Dead town players can talk freely among themselves, by PMs if they want to (send me copies of those).
BUT talking with a living townie is strictly forbidden, other than light conversations in the public thread.

3. Due to the fact that death doesn’t equal losing in the game, some roles will not have their role PMs fully revealed upon death.
