I was thinking, this game could be set 5 years after the Sinnoh Games, using this Timeline:

RBY/FRLG/RSE
GSC/HGSS/DPPt 3 Years Later
B/W/? 5 Years Later.

...or whatever. But listen further. This is how you could trade between games and access regions in Generation V without remakes of FR/LG! (Sure, we'd need Ruby/Sapphire Remakes...)

Step 1: Insert B/W
Step 2: Play until Nat-Dex
Step 3: Enter a Pal-Park-Like place.
Step 4: Talk to the person inside, who will save your game.
Step 5: Choose from: Trade, Transfer, Play, Re-Play.

Trade: Trade from DPPtHGSS by using a free cartridge for the GBA slot to select the Pokémon. You select the B/W Pokémon, which gets saved to the GBA cartridge, then remove B/W, Insert DPPtHGSS and choose Pokémon (Technically still using the B/W engine). Then that gets saved to the GBA Slot. Insert B/W. The Sinnoh/Johto/Kanto Poké goes over. Insert DPPtHSS. The B/W Poké goes over. Done!
Transfer: Pal Park.
Play: Play your DPPtHGSS game using it's own engine. It just looks more up-to-date and comes with the B/W players with their Pokémon thrown in every now and again.
Re-Play: Playing B/W, you make your way through the new, 5 years later Sinnoh/Johto/Kanto regions! Battling Gyms with B/W Pokémon, and the ability to fly back to Isshu at any time! It gives you the chance to earn all the Badges (Except Hoenn, but we'll get Re-Makes).

Please, discuss.

Won't work. How are you going to save Lucario data to a GBA game?

Won't work. Won't happen.

I still don't see how this means we don't need FrLgmakes but we need RSEmakes. Why? Because we could visit Kanto via HGSS? A region is not the same as a game. Just because Kanto is in HGSS doesn't mean FrLg is in Gen IV. That game is still in as much a need for a remake as RSE. Face it, the vast majority of arguments that apply to an RSEmake also aply to an FrLgmake. They're connected. Can't change that.

Kanto=/=FrLg

In terms of his "Trade" function, I think he means (by GBA cartridge) something more along the lines of a generic memory pack designed to plug into the DS Phat/Lite slot-2 (like the expansion pack for the Opera browser).

I still don't think it would work, though, because the Gen IV games don't have any built-in mechanism for copying Pokemon data from a non-GenIII slot-2 memory source. It needs to be able to detect the serial number of one of the Gen III ROMs and a compatible savefile in order to initiate the Migration feature.

I also don't see how any of the other suggested features would work, either. NDS cartridges use ROM memory; they're manufactured with the data already in there. They can't be altered, or updated after-the-fact.

Plus, it even mentions the age old idea of having a game with all the regions (though this one omits Hoenn). I think I've already made my opinions on that clear.

I think the G/S/C time machine will make a comeback.

At least that's the way they allowed trading between different generations on the same game-format last time.
You can trade, but the old games can't get new pokemon/moves/items in return.

But that's just me.

HG and SS are in the 5th generation era, a little after Diamond and Pearl
How eles would you explain pokemon from sinnoh and hoenn?

Because the pokemon world consists of all the regions and all the pokemon at once?

Seriously, what is the logic behind that statement?

Aren't HG/SS considered gen IV games?
aside from that, how does hoenn even fit into your statement? it hasn't been represented in about 6 years

well in one of the screenshots of B/W it showed a giant port with several ships. what if each ship lead to a different region?

Okay, so let's hypothetically say that you could go to all five regions in a game. Let's imagine how levels would be.

Forget the league. you have 100 levels and you have to raise them steadily as you fight more and more gym leaders. Let's say you cap at 60 to allow for a big powerful league.

That means that there's only a 12 level difference between the first gym leader and the last gym leader of every region. And you thought it was hard leveling up in HGSS.

I doubt there will be access to any regions since there wasn't any in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum

And that logic also makes no sense. Why restrict the next gen games because of something the previous gen didn't have? I agree that there won't be other regions, but your reasoning seems a bit odd.

spoilers you probably don't go anywhere else but isshu until the rse remake where you can go to old sinnoh

I think the G/S/C time machine will make a comeback.

if you do that, you don't even need remakes of hoenn, just use the pal park in HG/SS or even put one in B/W...still, I'd love a gen 3 remake, I'd rather have that than B/W
