It's a bit farfetched, but shellder seem to evolve when they

latch onto slowpokes tail (in the anime appearance) I was

thinking that slowpokes tail has energy similar to a water stone

in it and when a shellder latches onto it's tail it evolves

except it's not in it's shell. Also the "shellder" on slowbro's

tail has the same evil smile. On the other hand it could be that

slowbro "shellder" is a theoretically a branch evolution of

shellder except you can't use it it's just on slowbro's tail.

What do you think?

No, that's wrong.

In the anime, when the Slowpoke evolves from the Shellder biting its tail, you can hear the changed Shellder say "Shellder".

Saying it's another evolution would be impossible. /thread

I believe that it's been established that while the shellder does indeed change form, it's merely a form of mutation, and they DO NOT actually evolve in the process

Yes. Basically like how newer Pokemon have different forms, like Castform or Shaymin. It looks different, but it is still a shellder.

Invalid: While the "Shellder" on the back of Slowbro or on Slowking's head does not look anything like a Shellder, I would like to point out that when Cloyster opens the shell, you don't see total black with a pair of evil eyes and an evil smile. You see a black ball with those traits.
